We deeply regret the ratification today by the Libyan Parliament of the so-called Libyan-Türkiye Memorandum of Understanding on the delimitation of maritime jurisdictions in the Mediterranean Sea.
We recall that the EU’s position on this matter was clearly stated by the European Council in 2019 and remains unchanged. This agreement infringes upon the sovereign rights of third states, it does not comply with the Law of the Sea, and is null and void.
We reaffirm our solidarity with Greece and Cyprus.
We reiterate the EU's well known position against any outside interference in Libya.

1. Ανάγκη επίδειξης ευελιξίας από πλευράς Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης για τη λήψη περαιτέρω εθνικών μέτρων σε σχέση με την αύξηση του κόστους ενέργειας, αλλά την ίδια στιγμή αναστολή εφαρμογής του ETS2.
2. Χαιρετίζουμε τη νέα πρόταση της Ιρλανδικής Προεδρίας για το Πολυετές Δημοσιονομικό Πλαίσιο, που χτίζει στην πετυχημένη πρόταση που υποβλήθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια της δικής μας Προεδρίας. Ανάγκη να ενισχυθούν νέες πολιτικές προτεραιότητες της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης όπως η Άμυνα και η Ασφάλεια, η Ανταγωνιστικότητα, το Μεταναστευτικό, αλλά όχι εις βάρος της Κοινής Αγροτικής Πολιτικής και της Πολιτικής Συνοχής από τις οποίες επωφελούνται οι Ευρωπαίοι πολίτες.
3. Σε σχέση με το Μεταναστευτικό, οι ενέργειες της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας τα τελευταία χρόνια έχουν οδηγήσει σε πέραν του 90% μείωση των αφίξεων και αύξηση 180% σε σχέση με τις επιστροφές, σε σύγκριση με το 2022. Οι πρακτικές που ακολουθούμε μπορούν να αποτελέσουν πρότυπο σε ευρωπαϊκό επίπεδο. Ταυτόχρονα, στηρίζουμε τη δημιουργία ενός ευρωπαϊκού μηχανισμού άμεσης ανάγκης, ειδικότερα όταν παρατηρούνται φαινόμενα εργαλειοποίησης μεταναστών από τρίτες χώρες.

We marked the anniversary in the presence of friends, colleagues and compatriots, having concluded a successful Presidency of the Council of the EU. The real legacy of the Presidency is what comes next: using the experience, confidence and capacity, for our common way forward.

Στο Λουξεμβούργο σήμερα για τις εργασίες του Συμβουλίου Δικαιοσύνης και Εσωτερικών Υποθέσεων της ΕΕ.
Προσερχόμενος στο Συμβούλιο,
🔸 Αναφέρθηκα στην ένταξη της Κύπρου στον χώρο Σένγκεν. Από τεχνική άποψη, η Κύπρος είναι έτοιμη να καταστεί πλήρες μέλος του χώρου Σένγκεν. Είναι πλέον αναγκαίο να επιτευχθεί συμφωνία σε πολιτικό επίπεδο τους επόμενους μήνες.
🔸Επανέλαβα την αλληλεγγύη της Κύπρου προς την Ισπανία σε σχέση με τη Θέουτα και τόνισα την ανάγκη να ενεργούμε συντονισμένα, για να διαφυλάξουμε το έδαφος της ΕΕ και τον χώρο Σένγκεν.
🔸Επεσήμανα την ανάγκη βελτίωσης των δυνατοτήτων έγκαιρης προειδοποίησης της ΕΕ για την αντιμετώπιση μαζικών παράτυπων μετακινήσεων.
🔸 Εξέφρασα τη στήριξή μας για ενισχυμένη συνεργασία με τρίτες χώρες για αύξηση των επιστροφών. Αν κάποια τρίτα κράτη δεν συνεργάζονται, θα πρέπει να λαμβάνουμε αυστηρά μέτρα.
