As a Christian, the response to the elections should not be "our country is doomed, these people are evil" - it should be "I'm praying for our newly elected leaders"

Tonight’s outcome isn’t about placing faith in Democrats or socialist principles; it’s about holding Republicans accountable for betraying their promises. All Republicans had to do was: 1. put Americans First 2. not start another war 3. prosecute sex traffickers

There are plenty of reasons to oppose the NDAA, and this is one of the most important. We should not be integrating the U. S. military and the military of any other country. Remove Section 1217 (formerly Section 219).
"Section 219 creates a multi-generational technological relationship with one partner that would be very difficult to rollback once incorporated into U.S. development and acquisition systems. It is a pure political maneuver with great risk to the U.S.; it is not necessary and is, in fact, dangerous." "At this point, to protect sensitive U.S. technological development and to ensure congressional oversight is not further abdicated, the House should make clear it won’t vote for an NDAA that comes out of conference if it includes this provision, and the Senate should remove or amend its corresponding Section 1217 from the FY27 NDAA." - via Responsible Statecraft

The American ideal was once the man who could play football, quote Shakespeare, understand Newton, appreciate architecture, debate Aristotle, and sing in church. Now we demand that 12-year-olds specialize in one sport and spend their adolescence building college résumés. We used to cultivate men. Now we manufacture applicants.

Quite amazing how American boomers can be shortly described in this one image

The world ended in 1918, WWII was its death knell, and we live in the post-apocalyptic ruins of a much greater civilization than we can even fathom. We still hear the echoes of the knell and have no language to describe it. We call it late stage capitalism, Weimar conditions, whatever it is — it’s the bell that tolled the end of our world and we feel the grief of our ancestors as they lost the Great War, and their pain is still in our blood and we have no way to excise it.
Which opinion about history will get you like this?

I'm disgusted my country didn't immediately put this criminal in handcuffs.
JUST NOW: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrives in New York ahead of a high-stakes address to the United Nations General Assembly. Netanyahu will take to the world stage as Israel faces intense international scrutiny over its ongoing conflicts in the region, with protests expected both outside, and also possibly inside, the U.N.

Modern bad anime sucks, but not in a way that's fun or cool to laugh at. With old anime you would get hilarious errors when they ran out of money, or the plots would be insane & make no sense. Now it's just like: I guess we're doin "guy stabs a goblin & levels up again" huh?

Pope Leo’s doing a pretty good job if the most common criticisms against him amount to little more than “he’s not bitter enough.”

If one understands the way the Roman world viewed gender, economic, and ethnic relations, It becomes clear that St. Paul was a radical egalitarian.

I have bad news for fantasy authors. You’re gonna have to figure out how not to skinsuit recycle elves, dwarves, and orcs for the BILLIONTH time.
Critiques of modern fantasy literature here focus on everything except the fact that the genre has been deprived of its mythopoetic power.
