Kent County Council should test whether bus franchising would give Kent a better network.
Constituents write about bus services including cuts to services under the @KentTories in Wouldham, Burham and Eccles.
The Bus Services Act 2025 gives KCC same franchising powers that Greater Manchester has used.
In Greater Manchester’s first franchised areas, bus journeys rose by 14% in a year. Punctuality there rose from around 66% to regularly above 80%.
Time to seriously consider franchising in Medway too!
Kent County Council should test whether bus franchising would give Kent a better network.
Constituents write to me regularly about their bus services. They tell me about cut routes, few evening and weekend buses and real difficulty reaching hospitals.

Alongside fellow Kent MPs Sojan Joseph, Mike Tapp, Jim Dickson and Tristan Osborne, I have asked the Council to:
• Publish how the current bus partnership has performed against its own targets.
• Compare that with a costed assessment of franchising.
• Set a timetable and consider the findings in public.
For many people across our constituency, the bus is a lifeline. You can read the full letter below.

Reform running through council leadership in Staffordshire…
Could you imagine this chaos here in Medway.
They loath each other; and we will all pay the price.

The Football Club is absolutely devastated to announce the death of former Gills Captain, Doug Loft.
Doug died suddenly following a medical emergency over the weekend. He was 39.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Doug's wife Laura, their children Freya and Amelie, along with his friends and family at this very difficult time.
