The biggest scam in the UK is that we have normalised being fucking skint every month while working full time.

RIP Patrick Stewart. What an actor. I still can’t believe he agreed to do this scene. And he didn’t even mind when I ruined every take. Legend.

Brilliant questioning here from @NazShahBfd of Professor Ilias Trispiotis: she forces him to concede that - yes, ordinary parental conversations with their children will fall under the scope of this Bill and they will be criminalised

This puts into perspective. You can see average income growth over a 60 year period. This decade by the far the worst. Even worse than in 2010s which, at the time, were the worst in post war history.

I used to enjoy the pantomime of the Commons chamber. I still think on balance the Punch and Judy of PMQs etc is a good thing for political engagement and given it's such a part of the institution's history. But such is the dire state of the country for the first time in my life I found myself no longer enjoying it when watching proceedings today.
It all just seemed absurd - total lightweights so devoid of any understanding of how to improve things or even the extent of their power that 100 quid off energy bills is their idea of big and bold. How can they not see how unsustainable this all is? You simply cannot continue paying people to sit at home on benefits when they can work. You cannot continue paying half a million civil servants to work from home 3 days a week doing bugger all.
It is really not difficult to tackle this stuff. All it requires is political courage

🚨NEW: A UK bank chief executive, reacting to John Healey's decision to raise the bank's profit surcharge said:
"Taxing the engines of growth to reduce VAT on gherkins is end-of-Rome level of stupidity"

This is astounding. The government's own figures show working-age welfare will go up by £60 BILLION by 2030, yet the Treasury has to rush out and correct the Chancellor to say there is no timetable for cutting the benefits bill. Looks like foot in mouth syndrome is spreading.
John Healey couldn't even find £10 billion to get defence spending to 3% of GDP - the thing he quit over.
Don't let anyone tell you this was a 'do no harm budget'. In doing so little, Labour have harmed our economic security and they've harmed our national security.

We're going to raise people's taxes to give money to people who can't afford things because we put up taxes on things.
This will be co-ordinated by a task force. Which will be funded by taxes.
Once AI fully kicks in there are hundreds of 000s of DEI,Lanyardist quango,State employees,NHS Admin and civil service employees we can save £BILLIONS on....
Uh oh… after John Healey clearly promised on @BBCr4today that the benefits bill will be cut before the next election, @ChrisMasonBBC tells listeners the Treasury have since been on the phone disputing he said this and that he wasn’t putting a timeline on welfare reductions.
