"President Isaias Afwerki stressed that respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is a fundamental pillar of international law and the global order."
Sputnik Africa interview with President Isaias
In an interview with Sputnik Africa, President Isaias Afwerki stressed that respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity is a fundamental pillar of international law and the global order.
In the interview, which focused on relations between Eritrea and Russia, regional and global developments, Russia’s relations with African countries, and global challenges hindering strategic partnership, President Isaias said that partnership cannot be nurtured unless independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected.
President Isaias said that enhancing strategic partnership requires, first and foremost, addressing global obstacles, particularly those related to the global financial system. Otherwise, discussions on trade, investment and economic cooperation would be meaningless.
President Isaias also stressed that conflicts, tensions, political pressure, sanctions and policy limitations are obstacles to strategic partnership and must be addressed beforehand.
Meanwhile, the Third Russia-Africa Summit, which President Isaias Afwerki attended, concluded.
At the Summit, held at the Kremlin Palace under the theme “For Peace, Security and Development,” discussions focused on Russia-Africa cooperation in the areas of economy, investment, trade, energy, food security, agriculture and security.
The two-day Summit was attended by Heads of State and Government from over 50 countries. #Eritrea

"Eritrea’s strategic location and its resilience in overcoming orchestrated conflicts & external pressures, & its success in nurturing a self-reliant and resilient nation ensures that it will remain an irreplaceable stakeholder in the future of the Red Sea & the Horn of Africa."
#Eritrea’s Coveted Geopolitical Location and Irreplaceable Strategic Role in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa
Research and Documentation Division
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
29 October 2026
*"...Eritrea’s geopolitical significance and strategic role is deeply rooted in its geography, history, and the resilience of its people and statehood. From the earliest human migrations and the development of ancient civilizations to the emergence of the modern international system, the territory of present-day Eritrea has occupied an important position at the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East, and the wider world. Its strategic importance, already considerable in antiquity (part of this history is covered in the book ‘Periplus of the Erythraean Sea’), has assumed even greater significance in the modern era...".
*"...For countries such as Eritrea, the central challenge is to safeguard sovereignty and national security while navigating an increasingly contested geopolitical environment. The ability to withstand external pressure and maintain an independent foreign policy is consequently a significant dimension of the country’s regional position".
*"...Against this background, Eritrea’s self-reliant stance; independent foreign policy; resistance to alien/colonial occupation, sanctions and external pressures are important elements in understanding its contemporary geopolitical posture. The country’s political trajectory has been shaped by a determination to defend its sovereignty and preserve its independence under difficult regional and international circumstances".
*"...Eritrea’s contribution to regional stability must therefore be assessed in terms of both its strategic position and its conduct. Its constructive engagement with neighboring countries, solidarity with countries and peoples facing complex nation building challenges, support for peaceful settlement of disputes, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, and opposition to destabilizing external interference all contribute to a more secure regional environment".

#Ethiopia:
Abiy Ahmed signed an MoU with Somaliland, then ran to Türkiye begging to restore the very relationship with Somalia he had BEFORE signing it. 😂
He poured UAE money into endless ZERAFs and RATs war threats and propaganda against Eritrea. Now he's knocking on Russia's door to help him make peace with “Isu”, “Wedi Afom” - PIA himself, the man with dynamite balls.
Threaten today. Beg tomorrow. Repeat.
This boy king creates diplomatic disasters, then outsources the cleanup.
What kind of CHARLATAN politics is this? 😂
I listened years ago in which @danielkibret teaching bible with words "In Ethiopia devil is to take the control", it's fact that in such a devil controlling leadership He is part of it.
The Orthodox Christians continue to be killed.
#Ethiopia is not lucky!

Just as a note of human history of cultural exchanges and in appreciation of the efforts being made by the young students, I happily shared with them a model to emulate for building a bridge of communication between people-to-people implemented by a young musician (soldier) from Eritrea, I.e. (Major) Ghirmay Hadgu, who served in the Korean War as a soldier (1951 - 1953.) He brought back home with him, i.e. to #Eritrea and #Ethiopia, the popular Japanese musical genre which is characterized by sentimental, melodramatic ballads that blend traditional Japanese music called Enka and harmoniously blended it with the local modern music of both countries in his life-long carrier through various cultural means.
Ghirmay built a very successful living, bridge between #Eritrea #Ethiopia #Japan through music.
Today, I was happy to attend and learn from the presentation made by the young students of SEISA International high school on a similar efforts of building a bridge for various cultural exchanges between Japan and Eritrea. Wish them all good luck and Ganbate! エチオピア エリトリア

Eritrea Accuses Abiy Government of Escalating Hostility and Threatening Regional Peace
NEW YORK ― Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam, following discussions with #China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Fu Cong, accused Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government of waging a sustained three-year campaign against #Eritrea while advancing territorial claims over the strategic port of Assab through nationalist rhetoric and alleged disinformation.
She stressed that Eritrea had exercised restraint despite what she described as repeated threats of force and explicit declarations of war by Ethiopian leaders, refusing to be drawn into a dangerous escalation.
Amb. Sophia Tesfamariam also challenged the international community over its continued diplomatic, financial, and political support for Addis Ababa, warning that shielding the Ethiopian government from meaningful accountability risks emboldening further aggression.
She cited #Ethiopia’s severing of diplomatic relations with Eritrea and the expulsion of Eritrean diplomats, including representatives accredited to the @_AfricanUnion and the UN Economic Commission for Africa, as evidence of the deepening crisis.
She warned that allowing political objectives to be pursued through threats or force undermines the UN Charter, rewards brinkmanship, and sends a dangerous message that powerful or strategically favoured states can disregard international law without consequences.
Held discussions with H.E. Mr. Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of #China to the @UN. In addition to UN80 processes, elections, we discussed recent developments in the #Horn of #Africa and the importance of sober, objective analysis grounded in facts and an appreciation of the region’s complex historical and political realities.
On #Eritrea–#Ethiopia relations, explained that the Government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has pursued a three-year-long campaign targeting the State of #Eritrea, its Government and institutions. This has been accompanied by an increasingly aggressive campaign to claim and annex the #Eritrean port of #Assab, exploiting fabricated historical connections and disseminating misinformation and disinformation to inflame nationalist sentiment and galvanize public opinion in #Ethiopia.
Underscored that, despite persistent threats of force and explicit declarations of war by #Ethiopian leaders, #Eritrea has exercised maximum restraint and refused to be drawn into an escalation fuelled by provocative rhetoric and threats.
Further stressed the responsibility of an international community that has extended diplomatic, financial and political support to the #Ethiopian Government, often shielding it from meaningful scrutiny and accountability.
I also highlighted #Ethiopia’s decision to sever diplomatic relations with #Eritrea and expel #Eritrea|n diplomats, including those accredited to the @_AfricanUnion and the @UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA).
Such support must not embolden the dangerous illusion that political objectives can be pursued through force, whether against neighbouring states or #Ethiopia|s own people. Such an approach is neither sustainable nor conducive to peace. It rewards brinkmanship, emboldens further provocations and weakens the deterrent effect of the @UN Charter's prohibition on the threat or use of force.
It also sends a deeply troubling message to other states: that compliance with international law is expected of some, while others may enjoy exceptional treatment because of their strategic value or political relationships...

The @_AfricanUnion will always be remembered as a stain on the continent's history. For 63 years, it has never influenced/changed/initiated or defended the continent in any positive manner & instead, has become a front for subservience & diplomatic lunch-ins...
It's time is up.
Replying to @FevenYemaney
There comes a point in time where enough is enough.
The African Union is an embarrassment to the continent & should be managed correctly elsewhere.

ITALY ― 🌱Eritrean farmer Ms. Rozina Mebrahtom has earned international recognition, being named one of the FAO 100 Women Heroes 2026 in Rome, Italy, on October 16, during World Food Day celebrations.
Selected from more than 600 outstanding women across 131 countries, Rozina is putting #Eritrea on the global map through determination, environmental stewardship, and sustainable farming.
Her achievement is nothing short of remarkable: she transformed rugged, barren, saline land once considered unsuitable for cultivation into fertile, productive farmland.
Through organic farming, natural resource conservation, and sustainable agricultural practices, she is helping strengthen food security and improve livelihoods.
She turned barren soil into productive land, and hard work into global recognition.
A proud moment for Eritrea and a powerful tribute to the resilience, innovation, and contribution of Eritrean women farmers.
