In 2018, at the height of the MeToo movement, I was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison, including at HMP Dartmoor, despite having maintained innocence from the moment of arrest I am finally able to speak publicly about my case, and what I see as the ideological capture of the British justice system in reference to allegations of 'New Culture Crimes'. Magnolia Graffiti, my 12th book, is both a lived-experience memoir and a critique of that system - from police conviction targets, to 'courtcraft', to media-justice system collusion Published in association with @EmpowerInnocent, @FACTukorg and the Falsely Accused Support Organisation (FASO), and edited by the wonderful Felicity Stryjak Available in paperback only (for now) here: amazon.co.uk/dp/B0HHRHHQBH?s… Watch a podcast with me and Dr Michael Naughton of Empowering The Innocent/University of Bristol here: youtube.com/watch?v=OYs2cP9V… #magnoliagraffiti #IamJohn @jeffreyketland @Aguirre115622 @PhilMitchell83 @TheRealMenToo @AFAF_freespeech @Suffragent_ @Jay_Beecher @LucyTCWife @BenGunnEx @ShipleyWrites

The disparity between the attention given to misogyny & women’s adversity, & the attention given to misandry & men’s adversity is so huge that it acts as evidence as one of the clearest examples of neglect for men, boys & their wellbeing

Brilliant but - ‘It is hard to see how the commission will not be swayed by Carney-Gannon’s findings, especially under its new leadership.’ If I was a betting woman I’d put money on them finding a way. I truly hope to be proved wrong though.
Brilliant work from the Guardian. Full link below 👇👇👇 @shattenstone 👏 At trial, ballistics expert Malcolm Fletcher stated that every shot had hit the target area, saying there were “25 hits out of 25”, indicating that 25 bullets and 25 empty cartridge cases had been found. The prosecution argued that Bamber – a skilled huntsman – had to be the killer, because Caffell was insufficiently experienced with a rifle to have a 100% hit rate. The defence argued that Caffell did have limited knowledge of handling .22 rifles because she had grown up on the farm and attended rural shoots. The bullets identified by Carney-Gannon imply that the shooter was less skilled than has been suggested. After all, not only does Carney-Gannon suspect that some bullets missed June Bamber, she believes June probably moved around for some time after being shot. Carney-Gannon’s findings support a forensic investigation the Guardian commissioned from the prestigious forensic physician Professor Jason Payne-James, earlier this year, into whether or not a silencer was used in the shooting of Caffell. The silencer in question was found three days after the massacre, in a downstairs storage cupboard at White House Farm, by relatives who went on to inherit from the Bamber estate. This silencer was crucial in the case against Bamber. The prosecution argued that Caffell’s arms were not long enough to kill herself had the silencer been attached to the rifle, and, if she had shot herself, she would obviously have been unable to replace the silencer in the downstairs cupboard. At trial, it was stated that blood belonging to Caffell was found inside this silencer. Mr Justice Drake told the jury that if they were convinced beyond reasonable doubt that a silencer was used, then Bamber was guilty of the murders. Minutes before they convicted Bamber, the jury returned to ask whether the blood in the silencer definitely belonged to Caffell. The judge told them it did. In fact, it was merely her blood grouping, which she shared with Robert Boutflour, who regularly used the guns. Payne-James concluded that a silencer had not been used, and that the two shots to Caffell’s neck and chin were either contact or close-contact wounds. This dismantled much of the prosecution’s case against Bamber, and is consistent with Carney-Gannon’s view. It is hard to see how the commission will not be swayed by Carney-Gannon’s findings, especially under its new leadership. After all, the new evidence regarding stray bullets that were shot at the bed; June Bamber sitting down and walking around after being hit by an unskilled shooter; and, most importantly, the blood stains suggesting that Sheila Caffell shot herself, turns the case on its head. theguardian.com/uk-news/ng-i…

Having witnessed a number of males , go to prison for historic charges which turned out to be false, their lives ruined by it too, I am always nervous of any trial for historic crimes, which they have no Proof of being a true complaint at all.

Time to put faces to this ridiculousness. 41 member countries but here is the Executive Director, Sima Bahous @unwomenchief The UK representative, Dame Barbara Woodward appears to have taken a back seat on X - @BWoodward_UN and @UNWomenUK Come on ladies, do you really subscribe to this nonsense? How about making it stop? UN Women is becoming (has become) a laughing stock. @seanbwparker @DianeNolan1 @lizyeld
Conflict places more of the care burden on women and girls' shoulders. #Peace and security require more than their unpaid labor. Women and girls must be at the heart of peacebuilding. 🔗 See more on the @UN Secretary-General's report on #WomenPeaceSecurity: unwomen.org/en/articles/expl…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Men/boys are the large majority of combat deaths in conflicts — omitted. Boys also do care work — omitted. Saying women & girls must be “at the heart” of peacebuilding is prioritisation, not equality. Higher unpaid care ratios occur because men are dying or fighting. justsecurity.org/104722/gender-… ukraine.un.org/uk/download/20…

There is something in M's posts that appears to be open to learning. This isn't intended in a patronising way, but difficult for it to sound not The @ccrcupdate IS a part of the justice system, is NOT independent, and is in fact the opposite of this: empowerinnocent.wixsite.com/…
But CCRC is not part of the justice system. It's outside it which has no power except to fwd csses to judges to make them have a second look at cases based on new evidence Decisions to accept appeal still is with CoA.

'The system also has the remedy' Peter Sullivan - 40 years later Andy Malkinson - 17 years later Jeremy Bamber, Robin Garbutt, Jonathan King, Sean Parker, Lucy Letby, thousands more - still waiting Thank goodness for the @MoJGovUK's inbuilt remedy! @EmpowerInnocent
That's why system also has the remedy, it allows apeeals if new evidence is found. Problem is due to no control on the matter, pure bad luck it can take

Need to start listening, all. Why? Because we are expected to care. Don't care, and one day when you need it, there will be none for you either. Simple as.
One of the most disgraceful chain of events in Jeremy’s long battle. Non disclosure of evidence and then the CCRC wouldn’t pay to have the photographs developed. The Guardian 👇👇👇 A bundle of crime-scene photos was disclosed to Bamber’s defence before the 1986 trial. Fifteen years later, in 2001, a second bundle was disclosed to his new team, to prepare for his appeal. Finally, in 2011, following decades of legal battles and multiple court orders regarding non-disclosed evidence, Essex police handed over 406 crime scene negatives to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), the body tasked with investigating potential miscarriages of justice. When the CCRC refused to pay to have the negatives developed into hi-res photographs, Bamber’s supporters paid £2,295 to have them developed.

A problem with rape and sexual assault trials is that the jury is often directed to decide whether the defendant reasonably believed consent had been given Despite any evidence and 'witness testimonies', the jury need to pretend/try to read the accused's mind

Talk about speculation influencing the Russell Brand trial! Lucky for Lucy Mac that the judge has ordered the jury not to look at social media (which would mean the onus for not being influence is on them) 'Very real crime' indeed. No Lucy, very real allegations
Replying to @FASO880221 @MetroUK
It is a very real crime with a very clear evidence trail, I'm sure it will be easy to prove or disprove

If a jury is deliberately led towards the conviction of an innocent person, then something criminal is happening and it is not the person who goes to jail who is the real criminal. Those responsible are presumably so wrongly programmed that it doesn't touch them, but what I would say is they should never imagine that they are not seen and known for who and what they really are. Worth a thought perhaps, but wasted on those who gave up any feeling decades back from now. One wonders what it will take to re awaken them, and how they will feel exactly, when they fully appreciate what they did, however much they were never held accountable. There's a problem here, but perhaps one that some simply don't subscribe to. Assuming there is an "After life" and a God who wants it for everyone of us, then accountability won't be optional, and there are worse punishments than prison, I fear. I hate the idea of punishment. I don't like to think of it being inflicted on anyone and I found it a useless device as a teacher. But I do believe in consequences and I do believe in the fundamental philosophy that if it be Heaven we seek, where we can finally be at one with all those we have loved in our lives, then there can be no automatic passage. That, like everything else worthwhile, has to be earned. Not in any way at all for me to speculate who has earned it and who hasn't, but it seems fairly fundamental to me that those who injure and destroy others for no deserved reason (Is there ever?) than to prosper themselves, is maybe not on quite the road they need to be. Not wanting to preach to others. Just a reflection, take it or leave it. Sometimes it is so much easier to see how others need to turn a corner than for us to identify how we ourselves need to.
In refusing #LucyLetby permission to appeal, Spencer relied heavily on Evans’s experience, supporting experts and cross-examination. Yet Evan’s experience was generalist and out of date, many supporting experts didn’t read the medical records, and the jury was in no place to judge the medical theories at cross-examination.

But if you think about rape rape versus neo rape this isn't a problem. Someone who breaks in or dons the ski mask has no reason whatsoever to imagine there is consent. The issue only arises with neo rape where people are just guessing and the whole thing is a shambles.

yup, in date rape as they call it, etc but violence, stranger rape etc, doesnt normally have that problem, with regard to Russel Brand, I think he was an idiot, not sure he is a rapist though! Getting Justice in that situation, is gonna be a hard one.
