The Indian Express got the data. Between March and July 2026, nearly 1.95 lakh blocking orders went to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.
That's around 1,275 every single day. One every 68 seconds.
A year earlier, the same Home Ministry portal sent about 6 orders a day. Six.
And when the story came out, the government's own "clarification" made it worse. It said the real number was nearly 2.98 lakh.
One order can cover hundreds of posts and accounts. Meta has plugged its system straight into the Home Ministry's portal, so flagged posts can disappear without any human even reviewing them.

There are essential medicines for cancer for which MRP is ₹27000 and PTR (price to retailer) is ₹2700. That’s absolute rampage and carnage and broad day light dacoity with the patients. How can a patient be cheated for a medicine which the manufacturer sells to the retailer at ₹2700 and MRP is printed at ₹27000? It is surprising that the authorities who are supposed to take a decision on this are absolutely silent. We need not spell out the reasons for that: Supreme Court

महाराष्ट्र FDA चीफ तुकाराम मुंढे ने अस्पतालों के consumables की कीमतों पर उठाए सवाल
महाराष्ट्र में अस्पतालों में इस्तेमाल होने वाले consumables के एक सर्वे में IV infusion set का trade price ₹11.05 पाया गया, जबकि उस पर MRP ₹325 थी, यानी 2,841% का अंतर
एक syringe ₹6.75 में खरीदी गई, लेकिन उसकी MRP ₹57.20 थी। वहीं ₹29.41 में खरीदे गए catheter की MRP ₹310 थी
तुकाराम मुंढे के मुताबिक, ये ऐसी चीजें हैं जिनकी जरूरत मरीजों को इलाज के दौरान पड़ती है और उस समय उनके पास कीमतों की तुलना करने या विकल्प तलाशने का सीमित मौका होता है
उन्होंने कहा कि Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 के तहत scheduled medicines की कीमतों पर सीमा है, लेकिन ज्यादातर medical devices और consumables इसके दायरे में नहीं आते
इन findings की समीक्षा और trade procurement price तथा घोषित MRP के बीच अनुमत अंतर को लेकर स्पष्ट guidelines बनाने की सिफारिश Department of Pharmaceuticals और NPPA से की गई है
