Hi friends, (1/2)
I’ve been a bit busy recently, started a new course which will run for the rest of this year, so apologies for not posting as often.
BUT, I had a fantastic suggestion from @DarkDes2004 to start a discord for Associate Cricket discussions.

Imagine playing a qualifying league consisting of 144 ODIs, with each team playing 36 ODIs, just to qualify for the CWC Qualifier, only to then qualify for another Qualifier in the name of the Super Series.
This is not a pathway. More like a punishment for being an Associate.
What's even more sad is that Namibia, who's literally co-hosting the WC, has to go through all of this.
Shame on you, @ICC.

THE EAGLES HAVE SPOKEN! 🦅🇳🇦
Namibia 🇳🇦 131/5 defeat Ireland🍀 129 to claim a memorable 3 - 2 ODI series victory against a Full Member nation!
Create as many hurdles as you want, ICC. The Namibians are hungry and are serious contenders for the WC.

Meanwhile, the Eagles 🦅 keep their eyes on what they CAN control and let their performances do the talking! 🔥

Huge congratulations to the team on topping the @icc CWCLA .
This team is playing at an international level and is a great credit to the island.
Good luck in the World Cup qualifier playoffs in Nepal in Dec

We'll start to talk about accumulated fatigue soon - worth looking at this chart. Cummins has been a machine across series, staying as effective throughout, but Starc & Hazlewood have generally dropped off in 4th Tests. We're only in the third, but with both over 35 years old...

Kuwait 🇰🇼 will be getting ODI status after qualifying for the CWC Qualifier Playoff with their win over Kenya today. After being in the lowest tier of ODI WC Qualifying in Division 8 in 2010 (qualifiers for the 2015 ODI WC)
Amazing stuff.

I've bought Mets and Jets caps, retro Penny Hardaway jerseys and a Liverpool "Candy" shirt.
Nearly 20 years working in cricket, and I own almost nothing from the sport I'd wear out of the house.
From London to Mumbai to Sydney I keep seeing Yankees caps, Lakers jerseys and, weirdly, a lot of Las Vegas Raiders. Most of those people couldn't name the second baseman or the starting tight end. They bought it because it looks cool.
Cricket has almost no answer to that. Odd, for a sport that has reinvented its clothes more often than almost any other.
Earlier in my career, part of my job at ICC World Cups was shutting down the knockoff jersey sellers outside the ground. You cleared one tarpaulin and two more appeared at the next gate. Those fans had cash in hand. Demand was never the problem.
So what would it take for cricket to dress its fans as well as it dresses its players?

Looking back on this game, it's remarkable how far PNG have declined in 50-over cricket. They led the last WCLC for a good chunk of the comp and were in contention for a place in the Super League until the last leg.
Today they got hammered by Qatar, by 9 wickets inside 15 overs..
Fairly sure the previous highest team total at ICC Academy Ground 2 was in fact Hong Kong's 323-4 back in 2017, incidentally the very match where the Netherlands are cheering for here, as Hong Kong closed out the win to seal NL's place in the SUper League:

Maiden international ton for Cedric de Lange, and in brutally hot conditions in Dubai. Has been a remarkably testing introduction to international cricket for the youngster over the last few tours, but he's adjusted quickly. Lot of runs to come in Orange one imagines.
