Ask qwen about tiennamen square. Then ask it about the massacre.
I don’t give a fuck about China having my data or nudes. I do at least want my AI that can help or harm people to be locally aligned.
I could understand this point of view six months ago. But AI is actually useful now.
An agent can use a calculator now. That wasn’t really the case in the recent past.
I resent all these fucking effective altruist fucks for making a cool technology at the expense of ruining society and printing fake money.
Sam Altman changed his name on here to Ram Altman because he made the moral panic up himself this last week.
The leaders make all the bad points.
When Dario and Sam turned more into Alex and Elon it didn’t help.
Nobody in that space has a spine and it sucks because the technology can help people. But today it doesn’t help the average person.

It’s because if you don’t work in a technical field, your only daily experience of AI is crappy AI generated food pics on menus and annoying customer service bots. Who wants more of that?!
The differing perceptions of AI are wild. The country just voted against data centers on 40+ provisions nationwide and hates AI. (Plenty of legitimate gripes.) But most of those people are just unaware that AI is finding a new cancer cure or treatment weekly, going through decades of peer reviewed data and uncovering mountains of errors, that its correcting, throughout every academic field. Replacing billions of man hours of drudgery. Closest thing to a “miracle” I’ve ever witnessed. When I talk to people outside of tech/VC, they’re just unaware of all of it.

The era of “Our hands are tied” are over. Now hold yourselves accountable time to ALSO keep your elected officials accountable. Just because one side doesn’t have control doesn’t mean we just all go back to brunch and do nothing. Do something. You gotta do the ground work.
Is having a child a side project?
Is having a social life a side project?
Is doing creative work a side project?
Is taking care of a family a side project?
Is having a loving, caring, social circle a side project?
Is travel a side project?
Is fucking your mom a side project

We want to clarify what we announced today about our education services. Today’s announcements give schools more choice, not less. Here’s what we announced:
- Gemini, Gemini Notebook, and Search will be OFF 🔴 by default. This is based on K-12 schools asking for more control over student use of AI services.
- Schools are in control: They can choose to turn ON 🟢 one, two, or all of these services individually.
- We are also updating Search for schools to make it better for learning. Specifically, AI Mode and AI Overviews will offer step-by-step guided learning through problems, so that students don’t get quick answers to schoolwork.
We know there’s concern about students using AI to shortcut schoolwork, and schools have told us they want control. That’s exactly why we are making these changes today to address the feedback we’ve heard from educators in recent months. And we’ll continue to engage deeply with educators to ensure we are giving schools more choice, more controls, and improved Search for learning.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Google's own VP of education, Chris Phillips, told reporters that Search and AI are "deeply integrated": schools that disable AI entirely will lose access to Search itself, not just get a non-AI version. There is no way to turn on Search without AI Mode/Overviews. cnn.com/2026/11/03/tec… techcrunch.com/2026/11/03/goo…
Google search is, and has always been, an AI product.
If you’re deciding to not use Google because they force you to use AI you don’t have to use it. Even schools.
Google isn’t a god given right. You’re just blind to any alternative.
