Nigerian vendors in the diaspora never let go of expired goods even if when visibly moldy or rotten on the shelves, they will leave it there until an unsuspecting buyer takes it home. They want to grind every ounce of profit from each product because throwing it away means they are throwing money away. Some wipe off mold with a towel. They just won’t let go!
We bought this Indomie from a Nigerian African store, but something about the expiry date looked suspicious. I checked properly and found the original expiry date had been changed. It expired in August, but we bought it in September. This one is Canada 🇨🇦, just imagine what they are doing to Nigerians in Nigeria.

Poverty of the mind is really bad. Some also lack common sense. Nigerian leaders are part of the problem but too many stupid people in that country also.

I read Wangari Maathai’s story to my daughter last night, and she returned from school this afternoon asking me if I have more stories of her. Well, it’s time to tell you stories of great women around the world. 😊
As I pay close attention to my kids’ classwork, I tailor their homework to their individual strengths and weaknesses. I printed out several assignments from a learning platform for them to practice at home. When Mama returns from school today, she will read this short story and answer the questions for me. She’s been reading me a chapter of her favorite book EVERY morning before school. I believe that continuously reading will make pronunciations easier. She’s in grade 1 by the way. Feji will work on equivalent fractions since they are already doing that at school. The assignments are one grade level higher, just to challenge them a little. How do you ensure that your kids continue to learn after school without overwhelming them?

You know, Steve, I was brought up in 50s. We dressed in a totally conservative manner - blouses buttoned, skirts down to shins - & guess what? We still got sexually abused & raped. We don't need to be told how to dress. Men need to be told how to keep their dicks in their pants.

Breaking: Scores Feared Dead in Market Shooting South of Jos, Nigeria Scores of civilians are feared dead following an evening attack on a busy market about 52 miles south of Jos, the Plateau State capital. At least seven people were hit by automatic gunfire, with local sources reporting only two survivors. The attack occurred at the weekly Friday vegetable market in Mangu town. Witnesses said armed men launched a surprise assault at about 8:30 p.m. as traders and buyers were preparing to close. Photos shared by locals from the scene suggest indiscriminate targeting, with both male and female victims sustaining gunshot wounds to the abdomen, legs and knees. The attack comes just hours after a local development association in Mangu raised the alarm over continued threats, stating that more than 750 of its members have been killed in terror attacks in the past three years.

Who would have guessed that a young boy who was shot dead needed an autopsy to confirm that he died from a gunshot wound. ‘Don’t believe your eyes, believe what I tell you.’

The Nigerian army denied killing anyone at Lekki Toll Gate in October 2020, despite video and forensic evidence from CNN. To date, no officer is in prison for murdering hundreds of innocent protesters. Today, over 30 children were murdered in Niger state, and no one is in custody. Nigeria is a crime scene.

Never let anyone write off your child when you strongly believe they can do better. Yesterday, my son’s teacher texted me his math quiz score and asked me to sign it. I was shocked. I asked her, “Was he asleep during the quiz?” She admitted that she was surprised too because he had never scored that low before. I turned to my son and asked what happened. He explained that he didn’t understand the questions because he was struggling with the concept. I immediately texted his teacher and pleaded with her to let him retake the quiz the following morning. Thankfully, she agreed. That evening, I sat down and tutored him on the topic. We practiced several questions, and I pulled up YouTube videos to explain the concept in different ways. My husband took over while I prepared dinner, and they practiced again before school the next morning. When I arrived to pick him up, his teacher was standing at the door with a big smile. She said she had laughed when I asked if he had been asleep during the first quiz. I asked how he did on the second attempt. She said, “Good!” He had added 50 points to his previous score. That was good enough for me! I hated math in primary school, and that fear followed me all the way to college. I never fully understood the concepts, so every question felt overwhelming. I often wished I had a private tutor who could explain things in a way that made sense to me. In first year of university, my math professor allowed me to take every exam twice and kept my better grade. He extended the same opportunity to a few other students who struggled in his class. I excelled in almost every subject except math. He said he realized that some student had a poor foundation in math. I do not want my children to carry that same fear, so I make an effort to review their classwork and help them understand whatever they find difficult. I am not competing with anyone, but I want my children to do well in school for their own good. Sometimes, a poor score does not mean a child cannot do the work. They may simply need more time, a different explanation, and someone who refuses to give up on them.

So nobody has photos or the names of people who arrested and killed these boys in Niger? Is everyone just going to run with the story that all 67 of them suffocated in a room? Which room? Has anyone inspected the room? What does it look like? How long were they there? Una too like story.

I went to secure bail for my sons, but they demanded I pay 500k for each of them and we did not have the money. Now that our children have died, we are asking for their bodies so we can bury them. We don't want our children kept in the mortuary, we are Muslims. Please release their bodies to us for a proper burial — Account of one of the victims' fathers.

Twice, I’ve asked my son what he wants to be when he grows up, and both times, he said he wants to become a firefighter. I’ll ask him again when he turns 15. If his answer remains the same, we’ll begin helping him build a path toward that career. The only thing he owes us is a bachelor’s degree in any field. Just become a graduate, after that, you’re free to pursue whatever career makes you happy.

A bachelor’s degree will always be a safe spot if your dream career didn’t work out, you can always fall back to something. Most well paying jobs require you to have a college degree.
