Following their historic landslide victory, the BC Conservatives have secured a majority government. Yet beyond the legislature, the NDP continue to control nearly every public body, from ICBC to BC Ferries, filling key positions with their own appointees. Without holding government, the NDP still command the state apparatus. They have never been the province's 'natural governing party', but if allowed to maintain their institutional footprint, they will come to be seen as the norm rather than the exception. If the @Conservative_BC intend to undo the last decade, they must purge these partisans, shrink the government payroll, and reform the public sector. Policy is essential, but political power is decisive, and without broader institutional control, the new government will be left managing a hostile bureaucracy. There are more and more divas in the NHL with every passing year.
Breaking: The Detroit Red Wings have suspended Dylan Larkin without pay after he informed the Red Wings he will no longer play for them, the team announced.

'Since 1952, the right has governed B.C. for 52 of 74 years. Before the NDP’s narrow victory in 2017, that share was about four-fifths. Whether under the banner of the Social Credit Party or the B.C. Liberals, and now the Conservatives, the anti-left coalition has been the natural governing force. The long history of progressive activism in Vancouver has given rise to the conceit that this beautiful province is the “Left Coast.” Rather, the protest movements and labour unrest are part of B.C.’s real political centre of gravity: populism, which decidedly leans or lurches to the right. Suspicion of Ottawa is very real here, as is a latent frontier spirit that is not yet extinguished. People still want to come here, whether to share in this ethos or to try to control it. Those in the latter camp usually fail'. My latest for the @nationalpost - Link Below

East Van and West Van, with their mayors dressed exactly as you would expect, which is not a dig at either.
Had an opportunity to catch up with fellow mayor-elect @PtFry today to reflect on our campaigns and on the issues ahead. Great to see him.

There is only one reasonable way to deal with Orcs, and Tolkein made this very clear.
[NEWS] “Marnûkh is a character meant to challenge long-held perceptions of Orcs. He’s such a departure from past depictions that within the production, Marnûkh has picked up the catchy nickname, “the Orc with an arc.” #TheRingsOfPower

We shall never forget our people who did not return home.

With all due respect, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that letting Mao Zedong defeat Chiang Kai-shek will set the bar for American foreign policy failures.
Brazil going the way of Venezuela would be the biggest foreign policy disaster in American history. It’s literally too big to fail. We must intervene, if it comes to that.

Until Trump’s second term many of them refused to wear Canadian flags on their lapels, ignored Canada Day & avoided the term “British Columbia” in communications

These types are poised to keep dominating the BC NDP. They must never dominate the province again.

Thanks to freshly elected Conservative MLA Caroline Elliott (@NVanCaroline) for coming on @CANADALAND with me to discuss whether she’s part of the conservative normie revenge in B.C. politics, how her incoming government plans to clear the uncertainty around Indigenous land claims, the partner B.C. now plans to be to Alberta, and how she feels about Trump celebrating her win. So proud of my colleague and friend @BenWoodfinden for his enormous contribution to Canadian conservatism.
Last night British Columbia elected a majority Conservative government for the first time in a century. British Columbians wanted change, and voted for it in a big way. Playing a part in this campaign as Director of Communications has been one of the coolest things i've ever done. An incredible team that had to be put together on the fly, and pulled off a truly remarkable accomplishment. I'm so proud of so many people. The future looks bright for BC.
