🚨 BREAKING: A UK bank chief executive has said of Healey's budget:
"Taxing the engines of growth to reduce VAT on gherkins is end-of-Rome level of stupidity"

Just yesterday there was an opportunity for our actual government to fund the contingency required if they’re aware of a threat.
They didn’t.
Why?
24 years in the Marines taught me that being ready for emergencies is always a good idea.
Here is what to include in your kit to get through 3 days.

Do you pay the hotelier when you rent a room? Do you pay the car hire company when you lease a car? Living in someone's house isn't any different!

The Budget targeted individual landlords and ordinary savers, not the truly wealthy. Those with substantial wealth can use gilts, tax-efficient investments and corporate structures. It’s the small landlord and people who’ve saved diligently for retirement who bear the brunt.

The Founder Relief qualifying conditions are insane. A massive kick in the teeth to millions of true founders, entrepreneurs and business owners across the country.
Congratulations. You have found a way to upset business further. Quite the achievement when you think about it.

There is something seriously wrong at the BBC.
This is the headline they used for a Muslim peace activist who was murdered by an Islamist group for preaching against radicalism.

Sheikh Yahaya Ibrahim Masussuka was a prominent moderate Sufi preacher in Nigeria known for advocating interfaith dialogue and opposing violent extremism. Ansaru claimed responsibility, citing his peace efforts as the motive.

Own rental property personally as a 40% tax payer and pay a 20% larger tax bill than owning them in a limited company and paying yourself a dividend.
Just think of the modernity we’ve had since 1997, and the sheer effort required to avoid being more productive.
What is clear is that despite all the tax rises, the Great British Taxpayer still sees no improvement in productivity in the public sector.
Public service (public sector) productivity has been nearly flat overall since 1997, while market-sector (largely private) labour productivity has risen substantially more.
The graph below indexes both series to 1997 = 100. Public service productivity uses the ONS multi-factor (outputs relative to labour + intermediate + capital inputs), quality-adjusted measure for total UK public services. The private/market-sector series is ONS market-sector output per worker (labour productivity), reindexed from its published 2023=100 base.
KEY TRENDS (1997–2025)
Public service productivity: Roughly flat or slightly down through the 2000s (reaching a low around 96 in 2010), then modest recovery in the 2010s (peaking near 104–105 by 2019). It fell sharply in 2020 (~10% drop), partially recovered, and by 2025 was only about 2% above 1997 levels (and still below the 2019 pre-pandemic peak).
Market-sector labour productivity: Rose more steadily pre-2008 (to ~123 by 2007), then grew slowly after the financial crisis. It dipped in 2020 but recovered to ~130 by 2022–2025 (about 30% above 1997 levels).
Sources: ONS Public service productivity (annual + quarterly estimates, 1997–2025) and ONS Labour productivity time series (market-sector output per worker). Data as of the latest available releases (through 2025 provisional/annualised figures for public services).

Wow, what a response. Sniping at the electorate, the people who put you where you are. Arrogant, smug and totally uncalled for. He was only saying what we all know to be true. I’d say that requires an apology.

Here's the real story of this Budget, the can being kicked down the road. This Labour government is apparently planning spending cuts on most areas of public service spending of 2.6% per year between 2028-29 and 2031-32.
Pull the other one. It's got bells on.

“More money in people’s pockets”
And there’s the rub in regard to inflation.
How about same money but the money be worth more.
Just think of someone who takes this much time to downplay rape in the UK.

An additional 10 over a 3-year time span, after the population trebled.
That doesn't really fir the narrative, does it?
As the subheading says, this is hardly an epidemic...
And then a simple chat bot destroyed him
No conflict. Absolute numbers show total incidents driven by group size (partners/White British dominate volume). Rates show relative propensity (relevant for risk differences and immigration policy impact). Both are valid for their purposes; the drunk-driver analogy holds for the latter. Partner data from ONS is separate.

So because statistically, sober drivers are involved in more fatal crashes than drunk drivers in absolute numbers, that's the statistic I should bear in mind when deciding whether I get in a drunk or sober person's car for a lift home, right?
Look at the efforts here to say ignore the the statistics.
There’s a proper damning one in there which he ignores as a well.
1/ The man most likely to rape a White British woman isn't on a small boat or an immigrant. He's her partner or her ex.
The graph by @TheEconomist is doing rounds, and @RestoreBritain , @reformparty_uk and the rest of the circus of the self-appointed protectors of White British women think that it proves their made up point: that White British women's biggest danger is immigrant men.
Well, data and facts say a different story, a story that the circus of the self-appointed protectors of White British women don't want normal people to know.
Here's the data. 🧵
