Here it is finally!! In our game you run a pet rescue for people that want to adopt a pet! 0424-1970-3421
We literally did non stop work since they announced these cute little guys and the creature callout. Insane potential for sidekicks in game and we've got so much more to add in the near future for them!
Quite useful. Good job Epic. Crash rate is important on client end, need this info for sure. Lower than .1% here. Nice.
Track your island’s performance across platforms and Fortnite servers with new dashboards on client crashes, hitch rates, CPU usage, and more.
Spot stability and performance issues earlier, correlate them with releases, and use UEFN's profiling tooling to tune up your island.

Using the sponsored row is like when Yellow Pages calls me (this is a real story) and asks if I want to advertise with them. I ask if they have analytics on where they serve up these ads and there's silence on the other end and then, "analytics of where and who? what's that?"
Good points made.

I want to make it clear that these are genuinely great, well-made games. Many of these creators built their success entirely on their own, long before receiving any special support, and they absolutely deserve recognition for that.
But my issue is with Discover itself.
Roblox is constantly evolving. New trends, new games, and new creators regularly break through. Meanwhile, Fortnite’s top creators remain largely the same year after year.
And when newer creators do break through, it often seems to involve significant promotion, established connections, or opportunities that aren’t equally accessible to everyone.
Having 4 games released in the last 6 months isn’t the same as having 4 new creators break through. Discover doesn’t seem to give upcoming creators the same opportunities to become successful.
9GB unneeded and unwanted. This should be completely optional in an ideal world. I never have and never will play this mode. It should work like a creative map does, just DL it when I want to play it.
This.
I'm already bored with the Top 10 games.
Tell me about some other fun games.
It's so annoying, it's the same ones every day.
That's why you guys can't beat Roblox.
@FNCreate @FortniteStatus
now that's a fun trailer, to the point, shows features and ends clean
Summed up well. The top 10 is the most egregious of mistakes Epic has made in discovery. Literally just a money printing row for maps that have been money printing for 3 years or more. Not to say anything about quality or work put in, but this top 10 needs to rotate.
As a player, I am enjoying Roblox more for finding new things to play.
Roblox’s Discover experience is far superior to Fortnite’s, and it all starts with what players see when they load in.
Players open Roblox to:
• Recommended For You - A couple of ads and recommendations based on their play history.
• Continue - Their recently played games.
• Standout Games - Their equivalent of Epic’s Picks, which rotates daily.
If players scroll down, it's more recommendations. Players have to click Charts to see the most popular games.
That actually gives players a chance to discover things before force feeding them what’s already popular. Not to mention Roblox keeps the search bar easily accessible and visible at the top.
Players open Fortnite to:
• A massive promo - A full screen of what Epic WANTS you to play.
• Continue Playing - Their recently played games.
• For You - Supposedly based on your play history, yet the first three games are the ones Epic is already heavily promoting.
• Top 10 - The same games Epic has been force feeding players through all their Discover “improvements.”
Instead of actually fixing Discover, all @FNCreate did was make a more complicated and less user friendly version of the same thing we have had for years.
Basically, an overwhelming experience the moment players launch Fortnite.
If Epic can’t figure out that improving Discover takes more than constantly changing its UI, I am afraid they will never become a UGC platform capable of competing with Roblox.
This is concerning as I am afraid UEFN will continue to lose creators as Discoverability continues to be an issue.

In case anybody is wondering if that's a legit claim, here's a book I helped write on Flash amazon.ca/Flash-NET-Gerald-Y…
Tim and I are about the same age, grew up with the same tech, same SLOW process of reading magazines and copying out of those to create stuff in the beginning. Then the meetups, LANs, internet on dial up etc etc. He went on to build a massive piece of software (which is amazing) to which I played Unreal Tournament on endlessly (good memories).
Now he's at this point of asking computers to do that job while highly educated engineers (himself included) watch on and monitor and guide and probably fix. It's the evolution of the "developer". Hand typing out now like it is the 80's and 90's that started as looking at a magazine and typing it out manually is simply old tech. For lack of a better metaphor, there is no need to copy/paste anymore.
I see what he's doing from a different standpoint I think than the younger crowd, kind of like how a carpenter might look at a pneumatic nailer when he started out with just a straight handled hammer. Where it all came from to where it is now is a straight line in my brain and I can appreciate the path.
I really respect Kenney and believe the same, make what you want, be creative, have fun, don't let people "bully" you for anything, let alone on the "how" to create. That said, while I definitely advocate to my kids to read books and write "reports" for me to see if they grasped the concepts, I'm very well aware that there are MUCH faster ways to learn. Reading gives a different perspective and an appreciation of time it takes to learn, but when that can be automated and attention can be put elsewhere then I do know it's time to adjust. This will work VERY WELL for many people I think, some will wait and that's ok, but many are moving with the times and it's important to pay attention to the industry for it.
There's value in both and always just keep doing what you want to do, stretch yourself when you can, watch the industry and most of all enjoy your time. If you're learning, you're growing and you get to choose the pace, go fast, go slow, just keep going.
Replying to @KenneyNL
This is bullshit, Kenney. I’m the same tech tree following optimist who moved from C to C++, from 2D to 3D, and from closed source to open source. I run a company. I write code. I contribute to published papers. I’ve upped my expectations of AI. Up yours!
You might see some weird error in your project in UEFN 42.40 update like: Supplied candidate api does not match expected api: Differing redirectors. Solve this by right clicking the folder the item is in and selecting "Update Redirector References".
New Epic launcher is nice, but what is this project count I have for UEFN?? I don't even know where all these are... 273?? Best change ever is that I can open fortnite now while UEFN is open and vice verse. Epic launcher no longer combines the two it seems as one service.
In Adopt A Pet (0424-1970-3421), our players had a pain point of sorting their pets. We have 440 in here! To fix that a complete refactor was needed here to add sorting by type along with the style and adoption time. UI can be flashy or look basic, functionality is king though.
Epic, please get rid of this or give a checkmark to "NEVER EVER EVER SHOW AGAIN" or something like that. Since you guys messed up loading data on pushes and it's weird now, full cooks are necessary to get previous data, verse reloads wipe it @FNCreate
There was a survey from epic and in it was the question that boils down to "what pisses you off the most that we do?" (biggest friction) it's this: They create a thing, say to use it, it's bugged, they know, don't fix it... I hate this to the ends of the earth forums.unrealengine.com/t/us…
To balance out my complaining this morning, I will say that I'm always impressed that somebody from Epic will always respond to my bug reports. I get that some can't get fixed due to the massive project that Fortnite and UEFN are, but the comms from Epic are incredibly good.
I have been watching closely as many UEFN devs leave the Fortnite ecosystem for Roblox or standalone games or just completely new jobs not in this field. There is a lot of writing on the wall in both directions with UEFN and Fortnite maps and it vividly reminds me of this book:
When I was a young lad living in Japan, this book came out called "Who moved my cheese". I was lent the book by a coworker and it changed my life some. It was written to be digested quick and easy at first and encouraged to be reread to take it all in after that first pass.
I've always been versatile and ready to move, learn and grow in life, but as time goes on, there is kind of a mental roadblock that grows naturally but is important to fight on a regular basis of "being comfortable where you are".
Something I think about often is that growth comes at the expense of comfort, but comfort comes from the reward of growth.
So I thought I'd post the online version for all that might find it as good as I did. It's a short read and well written, probably less than an hour, but you might read it twice...
