I write code and build infrastructure so computers can do the important boring stuff. Taking “we do this manually” a little too personally.

Hot take: Every King Von song just has the same cadence as Faneto by Chief Keef.

AI regulation does not really make sense to me. If anything, guardrails on closed weight models really hamstrings blue team.

Looking to find some good people to build something with. Got an idea you’re excited about or a project you could use an engineering collaborator on? I’d love to hear what you’re building, who it’s for, and where you could use help. Reply here or DM me.

RED TEAMING MY COFFEE MAKER: I tried to clean my coffee maker. Apparently that requires an app. We put a computer and a network stack in a box that heats water, and somehow made cleaning it harder. Fine. It’s a computer now. Let’s see what it’s doing on my network, what the app talks to, and how much infrastructure we apparently need to make coffee. Live findings and dead ends below 👇

Bluetooth pairing wasn’t enough. the coffee maker wanted application-level authentication too. found its existing pairing key in my own account, derived the eight-byte secret, and sent it. the status read that previously said “not permitted” now returns 40 0c 00 00 00 00 6b 00.

BLE auth works. pressed the physical button and got capsule reading and brewing notifications. then it disconnected. telemetry: working. coffees started by my computer: zero.
