The deer have declared war on our front yard here in North Bay, Ontario, and they’re winning.
So I’m building my own AI-powered deer deterrent completely in public:
• Battery-powered
• Day/night vision
• Motion-triggered camera
• AI that recognizes deer (and ignores people, pets, etc.)
• Wolf sounds
• Flashing LEDs
• Wi-Fi connected
• Event logging and notifications
I’ll be sharing the hardware, software, CAD files, code, successes, failures, and everything I learn along the way. Follow along if you’re into AI, embedded systems, computer vision, or just want to see whether humans can out-engineer a determined Canadian deer.
