A year ago god whispered in my ear and saved my baby's life. It was a Saturday morning, lots to do around the house as our scheduled induction was a week away. I noticed that I hadn't felt baby move so I tried eating sugar and moving him around, but no response. Just to be on the safe side I decided to head to the hospital to have him checked. Wasn't nervous though as I'd had over a dozen ultrasounds, including just the day before. They reassured me he was growing great and there were no issues they could see. Even estimated he was over 6lb already. On the way to the hospital I started feeling a few little kicks and flutters and figured baby had just been sleeping. I put on my blinker to do a U-turn, but then I heard a small voice telling me to keep going. Very unnerved, I proceeded to the hospital where it was quickly determined that over the last 24 hours all of the amniotic fluid had disappeared and it was necessary to induce me immediately. After a rushed drive to Spokane and a traumatic birth (at one point his heart rate dropped so low they wheeled me back for an emergency C-section), he was born. It was instantly clear that he was not, in fact alright. 4 lb 14 oz at full term and the placenta was falling apart. If we had waited even another day he likely wouldn't have made it as we had no clue anything was wrong. A year later you'd never know he was ever tiny or sick. He's a big, rambunctious boy and I'm so incredibly thankful to God for his smiley little self.
