BREAKING: Brent crude oil has been flushed 3 to 4% at midday New York time on each of the last three sessions, every time on a headline about US-Iran negotiations, with Iran rejecting every one of them within hours.
Bloomberg is now calling it a "VaR shock" strategy, noting the headlines emerge "right around midday ET, when liquidity tends to thin during US hours."
Iran has rejected four separate reports on negotiations in six days, each time saying the coverage is aimed at manipulating the oil price.
