We must expose bigotry without assigning collective blame, confront intimidation without surrendering our humanity, and turn condemnation into sustained action. Individuals can learn to recognize antisemitism, anti-Hindu hatred, racism, and other forms of bigotry; challenge stereotypes; and amplify credible voices from affected communities.

Global Indian Diaspora Foundation (GIDF) strongly condemns the alleged mass-shooting plot targeting a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois.
We urge federal, state & local authorities to strengthen protection for Hindu temples, synagogues & all minority places of worship.

GIDF urges @GovPritzker @FBIChicago @ILStatePolice @RepBillFoster to coordinate enhanced protection for Hindu temples, synagogues and other vulnerable places of worship across Illinois.
We need proactive security assessments, timely threat intelligence and accessible security funding—not action only after a tragedy.

The Global Indian Diaspora Foundation is deeply concerned by reports of an alleged plot potentially targeting a Hindu place of worship in Aurora, Illinois.
We appreciate the coordinated response of law enforcement and the vigilance of those who brought these concerns to the authorities. As the investigation proceeds, we encourage community members to remain alert, vigilant, report potential threats, and stay connected with local law enforcement.
During Navaratri, our thoughts are with families gathering in prayer and celebration. We stand with all communities in rejecting hatred and affirming mutual respect, religious freedom, and peaceful coexistence.
Every community deserves to worship and celebrate its traditions in safety and dignity. We welcome continued cooperation among public officials, faith leaders, and community organizations to uphold this shared commitment.
We respectfully appeal to the Governor of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to issue a public statement reassuring Hindu families and all communities of the state’s commitment to their safety, religious freedom, and right to worship without fear.

On the anniversary of 7 October, we honor the victims and stand with the families whose grief endures. Terrorism has no justification, in any form. May remembrance strengthen our shared resolve to reject hatred, confront terrorism and uphold human dignity.

On Gandhi Jayanti, let us honor Mahatma Gandhi by choosing compassion over hatred, dialogue over division, and non-violence over conflict.
In a world yearning for peace, his message remains a call to action beginning with each of us.

My salute to the Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar for his extraordinary bravery.
Despite being stabbed and seriously injured, he fought back, resisted, opened the cockpit door, and enabled passengers and crew to overpower the attacker — preventing a catastrophic mid-air disaster.
He saved the lives of 174 people, including Israeli citizens and other nationals.
I wish Captain Machchhar a speedy and full recovery.
He is a true hero.

On September 11, 1893, Swami Vivekananda stood before the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago and shared India’s timeless ideals of universal acceptance, friendship and fraternity with a global audience.
Exactly 133 years later, another meaningful civilizational gesture carried India’s wisdom across borders. In New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a 2026 Russian translation of the “Thirukkural”Thiruvalluvar’s timeless collection of 1,330 couplets on virtue, governance, love, friendship and the art of living.
This is more than a diplomatic gift. It is most thoughtful ancient Tamil wisdom of speaking to the modern world in the Russian language.
One translation of Kural 782 beautifully observes:
“The friendship of the wise waxes like the crescent moon.”
At a time of global uncertainty, such gestures remind us that enduring relationships are sustained not only by strategic interests, but also by mutual respect, cultural understanding and shared wisdom. India did more than host BRICS, it allowed the voice of Tamil civilization to travel from New Delhi to Moscow, in Russian.
Because wisdom transcends borders and needs no visa.
