Sometimes you just have to read someone's QRT from your own post, click on the replies, take a deep breath, then close it and go on your merry way lmao.

Genuine question lang & I'd like to be enlightened. Pag may mga turistang dumadayo sa mga Cebuano regions at hindi marunong mag-Ingles, Tagalog/Filipino lang & their own mother tongue - which is common among elderly Pinoys - paano ang komunikasyon? Ipapa-Ingles niyo rin ba sila?

we’re not going to speak cebuano in manila yet you guys expect us to speak to you in tagalog in our cities… dyk what that is and what that implies? laugh out loud

My question is related to this OG post which is where this whole discourse started ha, nothing more. Kasi if ayaw niyo ng Tagalog/Filipino, but not everyone speaks Bisaya and English, papaano? nitter.cf/mymusingsat22/status/2…
English & Filipino are official languages, if you would hate a person who doesn’t speak your dialect, you’re nothing but a moron.

How do I go at mag-apply para maging book cover artist dito sa Pilipinas? Dumadami na kasi ang mga AI book covers sa National Bookstore, lalo na sa mga local releases. WTF. What's stopping publishers from hiring local artists ba??? 😭

Ano bang gusto niyo, aralin ng lahat ng Pilipino lahat ng major languages sa Philippines para lang magkaintindihan tayo? Filipino being the national language seems to be an issue para sa mga Cebuano lang. Because wala namang problema yung mga Ilokano, Kapapampangan, Waray etc.
why are nationalists pushing people to love filipino as a "sariling wika". Its literally not to a significant number of us πŸ’€ maybe idk the reason why some cebuanos are agressive about it is bc they love their "sariling wika" too much, which is surprise- not tagalog

Hindi ko talaga gets kung bakit hindi nila maintindihan na in order to unite a country, kakailanganin ng isang unifying language din. *LINGUA FRANCA* nga ih. BRIDGE LANGUAGE. Would we even have this discourse today if Filipino was based on Bisaya instead of Tagalog? Hmm. πŸ€”
Every successful multilingual nation needs a unifying lingua franca to anchor nat'l identity & cooperation, much like Indonesia did with Bahasa. Valuing a nat'l language doesn't mean erasing regional ones, they can thrive side by side.

i recognize tagalog as utilitarian tool to bridge communication gaps sure, but the fuckass nationalism the comes with it πŸ’€ and some wonder why there's still pushback up to this day. giving a language "national" prestige over others in a multilingual nation is forever a mistake

I agree that there's nuance to be had but why are we moving the goalpost when this argument came from Bisaya speakers outright saying "don't speak Tagalog when you visit Cebu you either speak to in Bisaya or English"?
"maybe putting too much national prestige on one ethnic group's language has fucked up regional dynamics" randos on twt: "so what you prefer english huh you dayuhan licker?!?!?" nuance is absolutely dead lmfao

This is a genuine question for clarity (OP has their replies turned off so I had to QRT) kasi I think this whole discourse has blown out of proportion nanaman and it's turned into "muh Tagalog superiority" when in the first place it started with that damn post lol

A national language acts as a constitutional bridge, not a tool to erase regional identities. Loving a mother tongue (like Cebuano) & valuing a nat'l lingua franca (Filipino) can coexist w/out negating each other.
