Let DC Rise!
I am Ciprian Ivanof. I saw DC needed reform and I ran once for Shadow Representative.
DC still needs reform, and I am running again.
What can I do for DC as an ordinary person?
I was born in a one-party state and saw the aftermath of corruption, incompetence, and distrust. I have also seen how the legal system fails when the people at the top no longer pay attention to the struggles of those at the bottom. I was not just in an orphanage (very low priority in getting resources) but was an enlisted soldier.
Problems exist and a spirit of skepticism helps identify them a lot better than the cultivated over-optimism of many establishment figures.
Experience with being at the bottom helps avoid the hubris of those at the top.
What can I do for DC as a Shadow Representative?
The role has persuasive power, not formal power. If you want Democratic Party rule but want reform, you
don’t lose that by voting for me but do send a signal reform needs to happen.
My most valuable contribution would be just using my legal education and training to ask questions to see if the people trying to use the people’s money understand what they are talking about.
In my first week, I promise to visit the MPD cadet program and push for larger classes. The people of DC
should have police from DC who understand the situation and want to keep their neighbors safe. DC cannot thrive when people are in fear and MPD needs more men and resources to do that mission.
I will inspire Washingtonians to think big and expand the ranks of the Cadets to 100 per class instead of the handful of Cadets that are currently recruited. I will sound strong support for major investments in MPD and the presence of resource officers in every public school across the city.
I promise to request full financial information on WMATA’s budget woes and distribute it in the Wilson
building (sliding it under doors if people don’t want to see it). DC cannot afford to lose the workers, customers, and money that comes in via mass transit.
I plan to visit UDC and investigate what it would take to expand trade school education and the Congress Heights campus. DC has unique opportunities, and education needs to be more visible as a way for people to succeed.
What I can do for DC by being a Republican?
DC has become dependent on the Democratic Party and that has caused serious problems. While some
local elites benefit from close personal ties to the Democratic Party, the result of the dependency on the Democratic Party has been that Republicans are (rightly) suspicious of DC local government (a situation not helped by the out-of-control crime and attacks on congressmen and staffers). DC needs political diversity to earn the trust of adherents from the rest of the country.
The DC Democratic Party will not correct itself until it loses elections. The lack of serious debate will continue until the people find other voices.
As someone who is not beholden to Democratic Party power structures or assumptions,I can be honest about what programs and ideas don’t work.
To confront a one-party ruled system, we recognize that we must mobilize early. We must begin organizing volunteers, spreading the word, and engaging with every voter across Washington.
I have one question for you: Are you ready to LET D.C. RISE?
What if there was a teaching tool so good that people forgot they were learning instead of playing? Would that still count as work?
The reactions to this joking tweet reveals that there actually is a lot of hunger for practical (but extreme) legal hypotheticals from the public.
Remember, legal hypotheticals aren't just educational tools, they are also fun riddles.
Lawyers and teachers of legal traditions should use more of them.
Never forget that Hezbollah doesn't just sponsor lies in American politics, they also fund themselves through drug trafficking in Latin America.
Hezbollah releases a statement declaring, without evidence, that Israeli security service Mossad engineered Tuesday’s attacks.
The group falsely claims that Jews disproportionately survived the attacks and were told not to come to work.
In fact, Jews disproportionately died in the attacks. Jews comprise 2.4% of the U.S. population and about 15% of those who died in the attack were Jewish.
Chess is easier with pieces on both sides of the board.
There were rumors that a faction within the KGB had gambled on backing erratic groups within the Rightwing camp in the US in the 1970s-1980s to disrupt the increasingly effective coalition against the Left. Specifically, Willis Carto was mentioned as having been aided secretly.
As Carto became more vocal, he drove many to the Left in fear and disgust and attracted some in the Right to fantasies instead of the practical work of saving the country.
Just because someone adopts Rightwing labels does not make them reliable for the Right. Allies have to be judged based on actions.
The political alliances of the drug smugglers are probably the clearest case where Massie is working for the Left and against the principles he claims to uphold. Most people don't know about Massie working with Ro Khanna but that shouldn't be a huge surprise.
Massie probably started out as driven by ego and the tactics for co-opting someone driven by ego are increased with online bots and the skilled flattery designed in academia and offices.
But now Massie has made it undeniable he is a willing participant in the effort to subvert American security, not a sincere believer in small government or law. And he is no longer a dupe but a participant.
I just read Massie's articles of impeachment against Hegseth and they're actually WORSE than what is being reported:
- Massie is accusing Hegseth of deliberately killing civilians based on the debunked lie that the Air Force bombed an Iranian school.
- He's accusing Hegseth of "extrajudicial killings" for blowing up Venezuelan narco boats in the Caribbean. Rand Paul was similarly going to bat for cartel members months ago. What is it with lolberts and defending violent criminal syndicates?
- He's accusing Hegseth of "suppressing free speech" by investigating Democrats like Mark Kelly who are trying to foment insurrection in the armed forces.
- And finally, the most hilarious of all, Massie accuses Hegseth of "kidnapping" Nicolas Maduro and bringing him to the U.S. to stand trial. Even libertarians I know who turned on Trump over the Iran war said the Venezuela op was a well-executed and morally defensible operation. Why do lolberts love foreign communists so much?
In any other era, a congressman like Thomas Massie would be expelled from office and thrown in prison for sedition. What a grandstanding little weasel. I remain unconvinced that libertarians aren't a fifth column within the Republican Party.
Thank GOD the voters showed Massie the door.

BREAKING:
The Telegraph writes that the leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland will meet in Cardiff tomorrow sign a deal on starting cooperation breaking up the UK.
They will demand the right to independence referendum, or in the case of Northern Ireland, on the right to become part of Ireland.
After Plaid Cymru routed Labour in the last Welsh election, separatist parties are now for the first time in power in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland at the same time.
The three first minister will also meet in Cardiff with Mary Louise McDonald, the President of Sinn Féin and leader of the opposition in Ireland.
The new drive for independence referendums comes after UK PM Andy Burnham spoke about what’s needed for a new independence referendum in Scotland and made a parallel to the Good Friday Agreement mechanism in Ireland which requires the UK government to consider a referendum in Northern Ireland if public opinion clearly changes.
Previous UK PMs had completely shut the door on a new independence referendum in Scotland, saying that the failed independence referendum in 2014 had closed that issue for decades.
If Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland were to leave the United Kingdom, leaving only England, the remaining country's population would decrease by 15.5% and its GDP would decrease by 13.5% compared to the current total United Kingdom figures.
It would also create a number of geopolitical and geoeconomic dilemmas:
1. London would lose the physical home of the UK’s independent nuclear deterrent.
The UK's entire fleet of nuclear-armed submarines is permanently stationed at HM Naval Base Clyde on Scotland's west coast.
There are no alternative deep-water ports in England that are geographically, politically or logistically suited to house nuclear submarines and their warheads within the foreseeable future.
2. Losing control of the GIUK Gap.
Geographically, Scotland provides the UK with naval and aerial positioning to guard the North Atlantic and the so-called GIUK Gap (Greenland-Iceland-United Kingdom).
It’s a vital maritime choke point for tracking Russian submarine activity entering the Atlantic Ocean from northern Russia.
3. Destruction of the Defense Training
Estate.
The British Armed Forces require vast expanses of uninhabited land for live-fire combat training.
England is too densely populated to accommodate this scale of preparation and the Ministry of Defence relies heavily on the Scottish Highlands, the Sennybridge Training Area in Wales, and the Abercorn facilities in Northern Ireland for multi-domain military training exercises.
4. Loss of North Sea oil and gas.
An independent Scotland would get ownership over the vast majority of the current UK’s northern waters, with England losing direct geopolitical control over the bulk of the North Sea oil and gas reserves, as well as massive offshore wind-generation territories located in Scottish and Welsh waters.
5. The emergence of a new "Western Flank"
For over a century, the UK has operated under the assumption that its western border is entirely secure.
If Northern Ireland reunifies with the Republic of Ireland, and Scotland and Wales depart, the Irish Sea becomes entirely surrounded by foreign nations.
While a unified Ireland or independent Scotland would likely friendly Western democracies, they might opt for strict military neutrality (similar to Ireland's current geopolitical stance) rather than joining NATO.
This would create a massive security vacuum right on England's doorstep and would require London to reconfigure its military defense plans.
Stuff like this is why Somaliland is valuable to the US.
They know who the scumbags in the old Somali regime were and can trace the networks and insider communication in ways that regular Americans cannot.
Those who are willing to lie to prop up a genocidal regime are also willing to lie to defraud Americans.
I want people who will be able to identify the fraud and point it out to us.

At Ground Zero, after the last living person was pulled out, the search dogs stopped eating.
So the police did something nobody had written down in any manual.
They climbed into the rubble, lay down, and pretended to be alive.
More than 300 dogs worked the World Trade Center site. They came from every corner of the country, on trucks and in cargo holds, with handlers who had been trained to do one thing. Find people who are still breathing under the ground.
That is what a search and rescue dog is built for. Not bodies. Life. They are trained on live human scent. When they find it, they bark, they dig, they light up, and the handler rewards them, and the whole thing means something.
The last living person recovered from Ground Zero was a woman named Genelle Guzman-McMillan. She had been buried for 27 hours. A dog found her.
She was the last.
After that, the dogs kept going out on twelve-hour shifts, across sixteen acres of smoldering steel, at temperatures that burned their paws, and they found nobody.
Nobody.
Day after day.
The handlers noticed it first. The dogs were changing. Their tails were down. They were not eating. They would come off the pile and lie flat and not look at anyone.
A veterinarian named Cindy Otto, who spent ten days there working night shifts to care for the animals, put it plainly. The dogs had been sent to find life, and every day they were finding the opposite.
It was breaking them.
An NYPD officer named Famiglietti described what happened next.
They pulled everybody off the rubble. Then they asked for volunteers.
The volunteers, police officers, went out into the debris and hid themselves. Under beams. In voids. Curled up in pockets of concrete. They were told to lie down like they were hurt. Then the handlers sent the dogs in.
Picture that.
A grown man with a badge, a man who had spent the last week pulling friends out of that same pile, lying down in it on purpose. Face down. Holding still. Waiting for a dog.
And the dog comes over the top of the wreckage, and catches the scent, and barks, and digs, and finds a person who is warm and moving and alive.
And the handler says good girl, good boy, and the whole team celebrates.
They called them mock finds.
They did it for the dogs.
They did it so the dogs would remember what they were for.
One of those dogs was a two-year-old golden retriever named Bretagne. She came from Texas with her handler, Denise Corliss. It was her first deployment. They worked ten days at Ground Zero. They found no survivors.
But firefighters would come off the pile, stone-faced, not speaking, and see the dog, and something would break open in them. They would kneel down. They would put their face in her fur.
One day a man walked up to Bretagne and started petting her. He told Corliss his best friend loved golden retrievers.
Corliss asked where his friend was.
The man pointed at the pile.
"He's in there somewhere."
He kept petting the dog.
Bretagne went on to work Hurricane Katrina and Rita. She retired at 10. She was the last known surviving search dog of 9/11.
On June 6, 2016, at age 16, she was carried into a veterinary office in Texas to be put to sleep.
Outside, a dozen firefighters from her fire department stood in a line in their dress uniforms, in the heat, and saluted as she went past.
They draped her in an American flag on the way out.
Three hundred dogs went into that pile looking for the living.
They found one.
And when they could not find any more, the men they worked beside laid down in the rubble and let themselves be found, so the dogs would not lose heart.
That is the whole story of Ground Zero, really.
Nobody could save the dead.
So they saved each other. 🇺🇸

I took this photo in 2015 at the very underrated (and sadly shuttered) Newseum in Washington, D.C., which had among its many wonderful exhibits this 9/11 remembrance featuring a broadcast antenna recovered from the World Trade Center as the room's centerpiece and 9/12 headlines from newspapers around the world lining the walls.
I really don't want to do one of my "You naive Americans" speeches.
Let's just say that a rational person would be highly skeptical of Mamdani and ask how someone with his ideological associations would be entrusted with the role of mayor in one of the most strategic cities in the country.
25 years ago, terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people, including 2,753 New Yorkers.
As we remember that terrible day, let us also remember the first responders, office workers and strangers who ran toward danger to help each other. Let us remember the extraordinary compassion, resilience and bravery that carried our city through its darkest
day.
Today, New York remembers. We will Never Forget.
911 - HE WAS THE JANITOR🔑
And on September 11, 2001 the key in his pocket suddenly became one of the most important keys in America.
His name was William Rodriguez.
He had worked at the World Trade Center for roughly 20 years.
That morning, Rodriguez was in the basement of the North Tower when American Airlines Flight 11 struck the building.
Chaos erupted.
A badly burned man appeared.
Rodriguez helped him.
Then he could have gotten out.
He went back … Because Rodriguez had something almost nobody else in that building had:
A MASTER KEY 🔑
It opened the stairwell doors throughout the North Tower.
Firefighters and police were rushing into a building thousands of terrified people were trying to escape.
Rodriguez knew the building.
And he had the key.
So he went UP with the rescuers.
Floor after floor.
Door after door.
Unlock. Open. Keep moving.
People were coming down.
Rodriguez kept going up.
He reportedly made it as high as the 39th floor before firefighters ordered him to turn around.
Think about that.
The building had been struck by a passenger jet.
Smoke was spreading.
People were desperately trying to get OUT.
And the janitor was climbing farther INSIDE.
Rodriguez eventually made it back down and survived.
But approximately 200 people he knew at the World Trade Center did not.
25 years later he still carries the memories of that morning.
And he still has the master key.
We remember the firefighters.
We remember the police officers.
We remember the passengers who fought back.
🔥We should also remember the janitor with the key.
William Rodriguez wasn’t carrying a badge.
He wasn’t carrying a weapon.
He was carrying something much simpler.
A key.
And when America was attacked, he used what he had to help save whoever he could.
Never forget William Rodriguez.

Windows have been shattered across the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center by the blast a few minutes ago, and workers in the South Tower report feeling physical heat from hundreds of feet away. There is even smoke in the South Tower.
Nevertheless, public address announcements are ordering workers not to evacuate and return to their desks, as the fire only concerns the North Tower.

Twenty-five years after 9/11, this is still how terrorists talk about the attack. Here we have a graphic celebrating September 11 as “The Day the Crosses Were Broken and the Americans Were Humiliated” and “The Blessed Manhattan Raid.”
It describes the hijackers as “soldiers of the Most Merciful” attacking the “soldiers of Satan,” and presents 9/11 as proof that a small group of mujahideen could expose the vulnerabilities of the U.S. and show that they were capable of fighting a global war.
Then it makes the point even clearer: “We will celebrate and rejoice on every anniversary of our victory.”
That is the part we cannot lose sight of. For Americans, September 11 is a day of mourning and remembrance. For jihadists, it remains a victory narrative. They continue to use the attack as proof that a small number of committed terrorists can penetrate a much stronger adversary, create mass casualties, and change the course of history.
That is why 9/11 cannot be treated only as history. The attack still has value to the enemy. Remember parts of the original plot, like the Capitol target, are still treated as unfinished business, and 9/11 will continue to inspire the next generation of terrorists.

Fairfax County Public Schools ordered teachers to “leverage a critical lens” when discussing 9/11.
If they want to provide the proper “critical lens” on 9/11, explain to students the horror of watching 3,000 fellow Americans being executed on live television for the sole crime of being American—including the loved ones of many of your students.

ACARS message that went out in the New York airspace on September 11, 2001.
25 years later, this remains one of the most emotional, descriptive, and painful messages ever sent to an aircraft.
Deep words that captured the horror unfolding in the sky that morning.
25 years ago, 3,000 Americans were murdered. America was targeted because the Islamists who conducted it feared the power of the US and the way Islamic societies were shaken by their own presumption of power being shown to be false.
They believed that their ideology would result in being rewarded with material riches and they found that they were outshone by America.
Freedom made America rich and, when other countries had grown too weak to preserve their own freedoms, called on America to defend them.
The line between good and evil goes through every human heart but some good instincts and some evil instincts get hardened into ideology.
America was founded on the reaction against a growing autocratic mindset in English governance and enshrined Freedom and other good instincts.
Islamism enshrines envy, lust, and the assumption that the power to destroy is the same as the favor of God. In practice, it harnesses the resentment of the Islamic world to fuel its desire for power.
America has threats from within. A new ideology of resentment has arisen with "Democratic Socialism" (which acts more like an alliance of aggrieved aristocrats than genuine believers in individual rights or due process) who excuse the murders committed by the Islamists.
The "Red-Green" axis is puzzling to some but is the inevitable response of resentful people having the same enemy. Success breeds envy. Freedom is what made America a success. But when people have freedom, some people will fail, make bad decisions, or argue.
Millions of Americans went to war after 9/11. Life changed. The debate about if America is safer with secretive government bureaucrats or an alert public remains.
But it is hard to fight if one doesn't understand the enemy or what one is fighting for. Many blunders occurred.
Many successes occurred. Arguably, the demise of the Iranian regime will result in the vast reduction of Islamist threats once hoped of.
But the once open society America experienced was shattered on 9/11. We now see a madness excusing the terrorists who perverted the trust of an open society against it.
There are fools in every society. What protects societies from decay is the sane people speaking the truth. There are always those who resent family, stability, logic, or order. There are not always those who reveal that such resentment is a path to self-destruction.
The Freedom that made the attacks shocking also gives the best defense against the ideologies of resentment that made terrorism attractive. We are free to show the world that those who hate us are fools, not wise.
And we must do so if we want to preserve the success that America is.

Lindsay Clancy Juror Traumatized by an Exercise Band on a Water Bottle
This is one of the fundamental problems I see with this jury.
They didn’t just find the evidence disturbing. They seemed to want to avoid the visceral reaction that came with actually thinking through what happened to Cora, Dawson, and Callan.
Part of the evidence addressed how the exercise bands were placed around each child’s neck and how long those actions would have taken. That evidence was uncomfortable because it forced jurors to visualize the killings in concrete terms.
That evidence was central to evaluating her actions and state of mind.
In this interview, this male juror seems appalled, almost traumatized by seeing an exercise band wrapped around a water bottle during deliberations. Framing his actions as though something was wrong with him.
I understand why that image could be disturbing. What I struggle with is the apparent shift in perspective.
The discomfort shifted the jurors away from what Cora, Dawson, and Callan experienced to Lindsay's trauma from the act.
And when the lone juror continued focusing on the brutality of their deaths, his inability to simply “get past it” became a source of frustration for the jurors.
But maybe the problem wasn’t that he focused on the evidence. Maybe the problem was that the others didn’t want to give that evidence the same weight.
Several jurors have said the holdout didn’t focus on evidence like the others did. But that does not mean he ignored the evidence. By their own accounts, he was focused on the actual manner in which the children were killed: the bands, the sequence, the time involved, and the brutality of the acts.
That is evidence. They may not have liked the conclusion he drew from it, but that is very different from saying he wasn’t considering the case.
What I keep hearing in these interviews is frustration that he would not move past the killings and toward the framework the majority had accepted.
But in a murder trial, the killings are not something jurors are supposed to emotionally bypass because they are difficult to think about.
The discomfort is part of confronting the evidence.
Cora, Dawson, and Callan were not secondary. What happened to them was central to determining Lindsay’s mental state, intent, and criminal responsibility.
If there is another trial, the prosecution needs to understand this dynamic. They need to introduce Saathoff’s reasoning earlier and reinforce it throughout the trial.
There were time constraints. Lindsay made decisions. She moved from one child to the next. She did not hesitate when they struggled, and she did not stop.
The defense gave jurors a framework for viewing those actions through psychosis. The prosecution needed an equally clear framework for why the sequence, persistence, decision-making, and response to resistance could support a different conclusion. nitter.cf/itskikidanger/status/2…

#BreakingNews - DC CFO Glen Lee warning DC finances and revenue getting worse … Lee speaking to DC Chamber this morning. He says he’ll take action if necessary to protect balanced budget and credit ratings.
Remember, Charlie Kirk was murdered because he was successful.
By murdering him, evil revealed what it fears.
Civilization must be fought for in every generation.
The autocratic aspirations of Imperial Germany had to be fought. The totalitarian atrocities of Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan had to be fought. The subversion from Communists had to be fought.
And when people thought that the fall of the destructive Soviet regime meant that people could relax, Islamist terrorists showed that the openness of free societies could be used to murder.
But fighting the overt forces of totalitarian ideologies is not the same as effectiveness against subversion by believers in such ideologies at home.
It was only growing awareness of the thuggery of Fascist Italy that caused the Legal Realist movement to stop pushing for replacing our legal traditions with their interpretation of "reason". It was the awareness of how a lack of legal and moral restraint led to atrocities in Nazi Germany that stiffened the spine of those who sough to resist replacing evolved traditions with wishful thinking turned into policy.
There are always people who seek power over others. There are always people who have some wishful thinking that they think will make the world better. And there are always people who will use the promise of a better world to berate and beat those who are skeptical.
Civilization requires that we stand alert to the temptations from outside powers and the temptations that come from the human heart that would destroy the means by which we can trust each other.
The mindset that led to the Nazi mass murders, the Soviet starvation plans and gulags, and the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11 is the same than drives those who celebrated the death of Charlie Kirk.
Kirk sought to persuade through debate. Those who fear debate cannot win because they have already sacrificed their ability to consider alternative arguments.
So when those who lust for power cannot win through genuine persuasion face one who seeks to persuade, they will lie, cheat, steal, or kill.
The tolerance of fraud, tolerance of redefining words (one thing the Nazis and Communists did a lot of as well), and reveling in the sense of power that comes from murder should shock us.
But we must fight for civilization. We do not always need to use force of arms but words, ideas, love have their place. When our fellow citizens go insane or lust after self-destructive ideologies, we must use persuasion.
Charlie Kirk was killed because he was effective.
Islamism is under strain because Muslims now encounter many more ideas and can debate the credibility of them. Communism died when people could compare notes about the effectiveness of the regime. Nazism was a bureaucratic mess because pointing out the contradictions was dangerous.
In the war for civilization, truth is our greatest defense for a house built on sand cannot last.
And our task is to talk to our neighbors in a spirit of love and truth.
DSA network organizing in DC are getting more worrying. They have ties to the Cuban embassy and routinely retail Marxist propaganda.
However, they are not merely talking theory and holding signs. They are trying to organize political infrastructure to oppose the Federal government.
Most notably in the screenshot is their choice of targets. Mere opposition to the National Guard presence in DC or opposition to immigration enforcement does not explain the listing of the DSS (Diplomatic Security Service) as an enemy.
I suspect there is a larger issue at play.
Normal electoral politics can include a high degree of hyperbole and even hatecraft. It rarely selects minor security organizations with little public footprint.
