The truth? An Islamic Jihad misfired rocket had landed in the hospital's parking lot. But that correction was published days later, and got only a fraction of the views.
Initial reports have no time for verification. And by the time the facts actually come out, most people have already scrolled past, shared the clip, or made up their minds. It’s a pattern that repeatedly fuels anti-Israel narratives.

Under the UN Genocide Convention, genocide requires specific intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial or religious group as such, plus listed acts.
Hamas’s 10/7 attack showed clearer intent: leaders’ explicit calls to annihilate Israel and Jews, plus planned civilian massacres killing ~1,200. Multiple legal analyses find it meets the standard.
Israel’s response targets Hamas militarily amid urban combat with human shields. High Palestinian deaths and some rhetoric raise concerns, but official aims and contested expert views (ICJ merits still pending) do not establish equivalent group-destruction intent.
Thus Hamas’s attack aligns more closely.
