ZIMBABWE MUST BE ALLOWED TO MOURN
The tragedy on Lake Kariba has left families grieving, communities wounded and our nation carrying a burden of sorrow.
Behind every life lost was a human being — a mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, friend and neighbour. Behind every name is a family whose life has been changed forever.
There comes a moment after great national tragedy when a country must stop. Not because life has ended, but because the lives that have ended deserve to be remembered.
We therefore call upon Zimbabweans to observe *Friday, 28 August 2026 as RIZPAH DAY* — a National Day of Mourning and Moral Witness for those whose lives were lost in the Kariba ferry tragedy.
This will be a peaceful and voluntary national act of mourning and solidarity with the bereaved families, survivors and affected communities.
Wherever you are, participate according to your conscience and circumstances.
⚫ WEAR BLACK.
🏠 STAY AWAY.
🙏 PRAY.
🕯️ REMEMBER.
Let us mourn peacefully.
Let us stand with the bereaved.
Let us show through our collective compassion that *every Zimbabwean life matters.*

Imagine those properties being accumulated by a side chick. Our fathers before us (whose example we’ve unfortunately not found repulsive) had side chicks too, but they maintained them with honest, hard-earned money. In most cases, the only “cost” was buying groceries. There was no grotesque distortion of the village economy. What we are witnessing today is on a completely different and far more destructive scale. It is vulgar.
I can almost stand the idea that we live among thieves. What I cannot tolerate is the way stolen wealth has been used to suffocate the future of young, decent, hardworking professionals. The prices you see in the market are not real; they are artificial, inflated by looted public money and criminal greed. That is why land, housing, and basic property have become impossible for ordinary people to afford.
This is not just corruption. It is economic sabotage. It is the hijacking of opportunity. It is the deliberate destruction of a generation’s chance to build wealth through honest work. The long-term consequences of this kind of greed are devastating, and if we do not confront it head-on, we are normalizing a system that rewards theft and punishes integrity.
We must call this out, resist it, and fight it in the name of justice, fairness, and the future of this country.

#LetFreedomSing The Long Game for Leaders by Brian Tamuka Kagoro
Leaders who live only for the next election, business deal , photo opportunity or applause become custodians of chaos — sprinting from crisis to crisis like hunters chasing shadows, mistaking motion for progress and noise for strategy. They mistake social media likes and retweets for affirmation . They often forget that crowds are fickle and their opinions fleeting . Such leaders govern by adrenaline, manage by improvisation, and through barking strategy void instructions. They pray and hope that luck will cover the debts of their laziness and lack of substance, foresight and coherent strategies. In boardrooms and cabinets alike, short-termism and hyper informality are the silent assassin of both institutions , innovation, and visions. It flatters you with urgency, seduces you with so-called quick wins, and blinds you to the slow, patient architecture of real power. That is how empires collapse: not through enemy brilliance, but through leadership that cannot think beyond lunchtime.Every long journey demands reserves, navigation, and a vehicle that won’t die at the first pothole. Yet many leaders carry ambition like a leaking jerrycan — heavy, noisy, and empty. They mistake charisma for competence, hope for strategy, and improvisation for innovation.General Adams warned us: hope inspires, but hope is not a strategy.
It is the hymn you sing before , during or after you have done the hard work and heavy lifting . As the Shona say:
“Chara chimwe hachitswanyi inda” — one finger cannot crush a louse.
Leadership without foresight, structure, and alliances is just a finger poking at destiny. So, whether you lead a nation or a company, stop sprinting through the fog. Build the long game. Or be outplayed by those who already have one. Don't walk naked in the storm hoping not to get wet and muddy, that is foolishness!

On 7 July 2026, the President assented to Constitutional Amendment Act No. 6 of 2026, completing a process that SUNGANO YEVANHU –UBUMBANO LOMPHAKATHI says violates both the letter and spirit of Zimbabwe’s Constitution. Despite months of petitions, public hearings, court approaches, and appeals to Parliament and the President to hold a referendum or seek the Constitutional Court’s opinion, those calls were ignored. As a result, Sungano announced it is transitioning into the Constitutional Restoration Movement* and launching the Restore the Constitution Campaign.
The campaign will run on two pillars.
Pillar One:
Restore Through Justice – Sungano’s legal team will immediately file proceedings in the Constitutional Court to challenge the validity of Amendment Act No. 6 and seek appropriate relief, urging the Judiciary to uphold constitutional supremacy.
Pillar Two:
Restore Through the People – a nationwide program of peaceful, lawful civic action based on Sections 58, 59, 61 and 67 of the Constitution. This will include civic education, dialogues, petitions, prayer gatherings and peaceful demonstrations, with consultations underway with churches, labour, students, women, youth, veterans and other stakeholders.
Sungano also announced plans for coordinated nationwide peaceful mass action, with dates to be communicated after consultations. The movement stressed it rejects violence and aims to become the broadest constitutional mobilisation in Zimbabwe’s democratic history.
In the Harare Declaration on Constitutional Restoration, Sungano called on all Zimbabweans and institutions, and on SADC, the AU and the international community, to support peaceful restoration of constitutional democracy. With the motto _“Restore the Constitution: Justice in the Courts. Sovereignty with the People. Peacefully. Lawfully. Together.”
signed by Rev. Dr. Kupukwashe Mtata,
the movement framed this as a struggle not against the country, but to restore the constitutional covenant.

To the Progressive Forces of Zimbabwe, Our Comrades in the Struggle, and the People of Zimbabwe
RED SALUTE!
I extend my deepest gratitude to every comrade, organisation and citizen who stood with us during our more than two months of incarceration at Harare Remand Prison.
Your solidarity, unwavering prayers and tireless advocacy—especially on social media—kept our spirits high. Knowing that Zimbabweans were demanding our freedom reminded us that we were not alone in this struggle. The walls of the prison could not extinguish the light of our collective resolve.
Our time in detention reinforced an important truth: the system we confront has little regard for the rule of law or democratic principles. Our continued detention on baseless charges revealed not strength, but fear. Fear of a generation determined to defend the Constitution and to claim its rightful place in shaping Zimbabwe's future.
Those in power seek to silence young people because they understand that we are the architects of the Zimbabwe we want. They know that an informed, organised and determined youth movement represents their greatest challenge.
Yet what they intended as punishment became a source of renewed purpose. They did not break our spirit; they strengthened our resolve.
We came to realise that the prison walls around us were merely a reflection of a much larger prison confronting millions of Zimbabweans every day—a Zimbabwe trapped by poverty, corruption, unemployment, inequality and injustice. A jail cell is a prison, but so too is poverty. So too is unemployment. So too is a future denied.
To my fellow young people and all progressive forces: the struggle to defend the Constitution and secure its full implementation continues. We return to that struggle with renewed determination, greater clarity and an even stronger commitment to democratic change.
To those who seek to extend a mandate without the consent of the people, hear us clearly: Zimbabwe's future cannot be decided by silencing its youth. The voice of a generation cannot be imprisoned, intimidated or wished away.
The people must be heard. The Constitution must be defended. Democracy must prevail.
Forward with the Struggle!

There's nothing bi-partisan about the CAB3 voting. For a start, the majority of opposition MPs who voted yes are a product of the deliberate decimation of the genuine alternative. In short, they're ZANU PF MPs who were imposed on the opposition

‘You Can’t Distort Representation Then Claim Legitimacy’: DCP Rejects Zanu PF’s Two-Thirds Majority Claim
The Defend The Constitution Platform (DCP) has dismissed claims that Zanu PF commands a legitimate two-thirds majority in Parliament, arguing that ongoing recalls have skewed representation ahead of the Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 vote.
🔁 `Follow and share change Radio WhatsApp Channel in every group!` whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb6…
DCP Convenor, Senator Jameson Timba, said: “The Speaker knows it. You cannot first distort representation, and claim constitutional legitimacy for decisions taken by that distorted representation.”
Timba argued that the wave of recalls initiated by Sengezo Tshabangu since late 2023 has removed elected opposition MPs and Councillors, replacing them through by-elections held under disputed conditions. According to DCP, that process has artificially boosted Zanu PF’s seat count and cannot be used to pass far-reaching amendments.
CAB3 seeks to extend terms for the President, MPs and Councillors from five to seven years and replace direct presidential elections with a parliamentary vote. It requires a two-thirds majority in both Houses to pass.
“The Constitution demands more than arithmetic. It demands legitimacy,” Timba said. “If you use recalls to engineer a majority, then use that majority to amend the Constitution, you poison the entire process. The product of an illegitimate process cannot be legitimate law.”
Parliament is set to continue debate on CAB3 this week, with a vote possible by tomorrow. Civic groups backing DCP have called for the Bill to be withdrawn until by-elections are held to fill all vacant seats and until the recall mechanism is reviewed by the courts.
