Am afraid that is the consequences of having a First Minister who has no regard for the rule of law and who has said she is proud of her actions and for the PSNI no longer able to protect those who legally had the right to walk a short distance down a public road.
It is deeply frustrating that the NI executive will not be represented at the important meeting on economic growth with the PM tomorrow. I understand feelings are running high but it must be in the interests of the people of Northern Ireland that everyone gets round the table.

It is both interesting and welcome to note the phrase 'reckless and irresponsible' has finally entered the First Minister's vocabulary, but regrettably not about herself.
💥BREAKING: Statement from First Minister @moneillsf on the "blocking" by deputy First Minister @little_pengelly. ⬇️Statement: "The deputy First Minister has decided to block representation from here at major political event, which would include meeting with the First Ministers of Scotland and Wales, and the British Prime Minister. "It is for the people to decide who represents them as First Minister. Not the DUP." 🎤Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 will have more from Stormont today.

Hey, so your dog being uncomfortable in a bat costume this Halloween isn't worth the very mediocre Instagram photo 😌 Instead of forcing your dog to wear a costume could be quite uncomfortable for them, why not pick out a spooky bandana or themed collar? 👻

Israel is the tiny blue dot on this map, surrounded by undemocratic regimes & yet Israel is accused of being undemocratic. Tomorrow, Arabs - denied democracy in Arabic countries - will vote in Israel's elections. Because they live in Israel. The only democracy in the Middle East
Tracking Tyranny in an Age of Democratic Backsliding A valuable and timely piece. The Tyranny Tracker by @HRF's qualitative approach is particularly useful in an era of incremental democratic erosion, and its insistence on the judiciary as the decisive institutional check is one of its clearest contributions. As the authors note, “democratic erosion and democratic backsliding often start with measures taken against the judiciary and consolidate when judges lose their ability to be an effective check on government abuse. Independent judiciaries serve as the backbone of all democratic processes.” When courts cease to produce genuinely uncertain outcomes in cases involving executive overreach—whether on electoral rules, media control, or opposition rights—the system has already crossed a critical threshold, even if elections continue. The distinctions drawn between hybrid authoritarian cases and democracies under severe pressure that still retain meaningful judicial contestation illustrate this point well. I’m grateful to be attending a private dinner in London this week to mark the launch of the #TyrannyTracker in my capacity as UK Associate at @democracywb. Tools that centre the rule of law and institutional accountability in this way are essential for anyone working on democratic resilience. Looking forward to the discussion. @JavierElHage. @Piaggio_g. @malaak_jamal @WLCongress

The BBC tried to convince us the "Palestinian cause" was a family-friendly peace movement advocating a cease fire in the Middle East. Today the Islamist and Leftist insurrection across Europe is wrapped in that flag.

The IRA were terrorists, not soldiers. Their campaign of murder and bombing was not a war of equals, and no amount of historical revisionism will ever make it so. Labour’s Northern Ireland Troubles Bill risks allowing the IRA to rewrite history while British veterans face the prospect of being dragged through investigations decades after serving their country. Where is the accountability for the IRA? Where are the answers from the Irish Government about those who fled across the border, the support they received and the supply of weapons? I served in the British Army. My friend, Captain Robert Nairac, was murdered by the IRA. His body has never been recovered. His family still deserves to know what happened to him and where he lies. The IRA cannot be allowed to portray its campaign of terror as justified by the Good Friday Agreement. Peace does not retrospectively legitimise murder. There is no moral equivalence between terrorists and those who served to uphold the law. This Bill is a betrayal of our veterans and of families still waiting for the truth.
“This is a terrible bill and a terrible act.” Iain Duncan Smith SLAMS the Troubles legacy bill, following the Northern Ireland Secretary’s insistence that it is not an amnesty for soldiers. @jkyleofficial @MPIainDS

I support the #NoToExecutionTuesdays campaign. On 20 Oct the Iranian prisoners’ campaign marks its 143rd consecutive week. UN Special Rapporteur Léopoldo Maldonado joins tomorrow with a 24-hour hunger strike following Gina Romero last week. Stand with them. End the executions.

On the fifth anniversary of the murder of my good friend Sir David Amess, killed doing his job as an MP, I'm thinking of his family. David was unfailingly kind & treated everyone equally. In our democracy, everyone should be able to go about their work without fear of violence.

This is part of an ongoing, largely ignored actual genocide against Nigerian Christians. Every detail from Gaza floods the headlines, world leaders issue statements, broadcasters express outrage. Where is the coverage here @BBC @skynews, where is the action? Silence is complicity
A three-year-old boy was one of eleven Christians just butchered in Nigeria by Islamists. His father: “I saw more than 15 heavily armed men moving from house to house and chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ while macheting our people.” And not a word on this from our media. Wonder why?

Can @QUBelfast please urgently clarify why this rabble were able to invade this space, intimidate those manning this stall and get away with it?
Pro-Pal students at Queens University in Belfast just invaded a careers fair and bullied the RAF into leaving then covered their stand with a Palestinian flag. They said they “reclaimed it for Palestine”. What on earth is going on? @QUBelfast

#Iran On Tuesday the 13th, I am joining the 'No Execution Tuesdays' hunger strike. The death penalty is being used against people for exercising their rights to freedom of assembly, association, and expression, as well as their political rights. 1/
