The American Heart Association recommends getting no more than 6% of your Calories from saturated fat.
A 6-month, weight-loss-controlled randomized trial found that a ketogenic diet with 23% of Calories from saturated fat produced better cardiometabolic benefits than a Mediterranean or low-fat plant-based diet in people with obesity.
Low-carb / High-Sat fat diet had:
👉 Largest drop in blood sugar
👉 Largest drop in liver fat
👉 Largest drop in LP-IR (7x that of plant-based)
👉 Same LDL and ApoB drop as plant-based
How evidence-based are the AHA's recommendations?
For a nuanced deep dive, see today's letter on reversing fatty liver (3/3 in 🧵👇)
How to Reduce Liver Fat by 68% in 6 Months (Proven in RCTs)
1/3) Fatty liver affects roughly 1 in 3 adults. But it's rapidly reversible.
In fact, in a 6-month weight-loss-controlled, human randomized trial, a low-carb diet (4% Calories from carbs) beat a Mediterranean diet and a low-fat plant-based diet for reducing fatty liver.
Absolute reducing in intrahepatic triglycerides (fat in the liver: 19.4 to 6.2)
And it not only reduced liver fat more effectively, but also improved insulin resistance and reduced the liver's production of new sugar and fat...
🔴 TUESDAY NIGHT LIVE!
We're back tonight, and I've got a few things to catch you up on!
I'm around day 11 of getting back on track. I've completed two fasts, been keeping my meals simple with beef and eggs, and I'm already noticing some encouraging changes.
Tonight we're talking about what's working, why I'm keeping things simple, and something we should ALL be doing: checking those nutrition labels! You might be surprised by what's hiding in some everyday foods.
I'll also be talking about YouTube ads, memberships, Super Chats, and what it actually takes to keep a small channel like KetoSimple running.
Plus, a little housekeeping to make sure nobody gets missed in our live chat!
☕ Grab your coffee, pull up a chair, and come spend Tuesday night with us!

WHICH RUNG IS BEST FOR YOU?
The Proper Human Diet has more than one level, and you get to pick the spot where your body does best.
Low-Carb is under 100 grams of total carbs a day. Keto is under 20. Ketovore is under 10. Carnivore is close to zero, animal foods only. Lion is meat, salt and water.
The rules stay the same at every level. Real whole foods. No ultra-processed food, no grains, no seed oils, no added sugar, no Keto-labeled products and no bliss-point snacks.
If you're lean and healthy, Low-Carb may be all you need. If you're fighting hyperinsulinemia or type 2 diabetes, you'll likely do better further down the ladder. Start where you can stick with it, and move down if your labs and your waist don't budge.
Where are you on the ladder right now?
I Made It Through Halloween… What's Next? ☕ nitter.cf/i/broadcasts/2kEbyZABz…
Halloween is officially behind me, and I made it through without a single piece of Halloween candy! I CALL THAT A WIN! 🎃💪
Now, let's be honest. I've been struggling to get myself back on track lately. It's been a process, and I'm working on rebuilding the habits and consistency that I know I need.
I'm currently about 42 hours into a planned 56-hour fast, and I'm also working on incorporating shorter fasts into my regular lifestyle.
It's not about perfection, quick fixes, or flipping a switch overnight. It's about taking steps forward, rebuilding discipline, and getting back to the things that work for me.
One win at a time. Let's go! 👊 – at Clermont, IN
🍫 70 CALORIES. 1g OF SUGAR. WHAT'S THE CATCH?
Have you spotted the new HallPass Candies at Walmart?
They're getting attention for their incredibly low calorie and sugar numbers, but there's more to the story than what's on the front of the package!
🔎 Here's what caught my attention:
⚠️ EPG (alternative fat): This ingredient passes through the body largely undigested. Consuming large amounts can cause loose stools or gastrointestinal discomfort.
🍬 Alternative sweeteners: Depending on the variety, these candies use ingredients such as allulose, tagatose, and sucralose.
🥜 Allergen warnings: Milk and soy are among the allergens to watch for, and certain varieties also contain peanuts or wheat. Always read the specific package if you have an allergy.
None of this automatically makes these candies good or bad. But it does mean we should look beyond the calorie count and sugar number!
The front of the package tells you part of the story. The ingredient list and warnings help tell the rest.
👇 Have you tried HallPass Candies? Have you seen them at your local Walmart? And would you give them a try?
Let's talk about it!

This is a joke, right?
Please put your hand up if you have reversed type 2 diabetes with diet and movement so we can educate this mainstream cardiologist.
Diabetes, like so many chronic diseases is completely reversible if you improve what you eat and move your body. Full stop.
Rest in Peace!

🔴 TONIGHT ON TUESDAY NIGHT LIVE: I'M NOT GIVING UP.
I've got some things I need to get off my chest tonight, and I'm going to be honest with you.
I've let myself fall back into old habits. My weight has crept back up, physical challenges I thought I'd overcome are returning, and the reality of where I am today has hit me harder than I expected.
After losing over 150 pounds and spending years sharing this journey with you, it's difficult to admit that I'm struggling. But I'm done pretending everything is fine.
Losing my job in 2020 affected me more than I realized. Life changed, old habits crept back in, and somewhere along the way, I lost sight of the progress I'd made.
My recent vacation was a wake-up call. I don't want to live with shame, guilt, and disappointment in myself. I want to be healthier, more active, and present for my kids, grandkids, and whatever the future holds.
I don't have every answer. I don't have a perfect plan. But I'm ready to start making changes, simplify my approach, and be honest about the journey ahead.
Tonight, I'm sharing where I am, what I'm thinking, and what comes next.
❤️ I'm not where I want to be, but I'm not giving up.
Come join me for Tuesday Night Live. Bring your coffee, share your own experiences, and let's talk about what it means to get back up when life knocks us off course.

This is unbelievable!
Frédéric is right. And the Dutch press release tells you why.
The Netherlands Nutrition Centre cut its meat advice from 500 grams to 300 grams a week, with a max of 100 grams of red meat. Their own examples show 100 grams raw is one small piece of steak. Per WEEK.
Legumes went up to 250 grams a week. Cheese got cut in half.
How did they get there? Their press release says the calculations set limits for greenhouse gas emissions and water use. That's climate math in a food guide.
Compare the NutriRECS panel in Annals of Internal Medicine. Five systematic reviews, GRADE methods, and environmental impact explicitly left out. Their advice: adults can continue their current red meat intake. The evidence for cutting it was low certainty.
I've made videos on the red meat scare for years (see below).
If red meat were really the problem, why did they need emissions math to justify the cap? Meat is a health food...

Literal FOOLISHNESS from WebMD.
They left out the part that matters most: what you eat when you do eat.
Your gallbladder squeezes hardest when fat hits your gut. Starve it of fat and the bile just sits there.
In a trial of two very low calorie diets, 6 of 11 people on the nearly fat free version (3 grams of fat a day) developed gallstones. On the version with 12 grams of fat a day: 0 of 11. The higher fat group's gallbladders emptied significantly better.
Fat phobia is bad for your gallbladder. Eat real animal fat with your meals and let that organ do its job.
Your gallbladder releases bile each time you eat. When you skip meals, those bile juices build up. This raises the cholesterol levels in your gallbladder. Over time, the waxy fats can harden into gallstones. Some bile acids also may make you more likely to get gallbladder cancer. So carve out time for regular meals. wb.md/4e8G1Ln
☕ Sunday Morning Coffee — I'm Back!
We're home from vacation, the coffee is brewing, and I've got a lot on my mind this morning.
Sometimes getting away gives you exactly what you need. And sometimes it gives you a few reminders that there are things in your life you need to take a closer look at.
This morning, I want to have an honest conversation about my health journey, where I am right now, and why transparency matters so much to me. After nearly ten years of living this lifestyle, I've got some things to work on, some lessons to revisit, and a plan for moving forward.
I'm not giving up, and I'm not going to pretend that everything is perfect.
Grab your coffee and come hang out with me! Let's talk about the struggles, the setbacks, and what it means to keep moving forward.
❤️ Love, hugs, and coffee!

Just a quick clarification about videos on No Carb Life…
I've received a few comments recently from people who are concerned that I'm now charging to watch interviews.
I want to make something absolutely clear. Every interview on No Carb Life is FREE to watch, and that isn't changing!
The only difference is that channel members get to watch new interviews a little earlier as a thank-you for supporting the channel.
Unfortunately, YouTube sometimes recommends these early-access videos to people who aren't members yet. When you click on one, it can look as though you need to pay to watch it.
You don't! You just need to wait until the video is released to everyone.
I have no intention of putting my interviews behind a paywall. My goal has always been to share people's experiences with the carnivore diet with as many people as possible.
So if you see a video that says "Members First” please don't worry. It will be available for everyone to watch for free very soon!
Thank you for watching and supporting No Carb Life!
