Canned tuna is a good cheap protein. The article says about 22 grams of protein in 3 ounces, and no carbs. The dietitian says to limit tuna packed in vegetable oil, which means soy, corn or canola oil. I'd skip those cans altogether. Get it packed in water or olive oil, and pick skipjack (light) if you eat it often, since it's lower in mercury. The new Dietary Guidelines say 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram a day. That's about 0.54 to 0.73 grams per pound. Skip the pasta and grain bowl recipes and eat your tuna with a couple of boiled eggs. My video is below.

The American Heart Association recommends getting no more than 6% of your Calories from saturated fat. A 6-month, weight-loss-controlled randomized trial found that a ketogenic diet with 23% of Calories from saturated fat produced better cardiometabolic benefits than a Mediterranean or low-fat plant-based diet in people with obesity. Low-carb / High-Sat fat diet had: 👉 Largest drop in blood sugar 👉 Largest drop in liver fat 👉 Largest drop in LP-IR (7x that of plant-based) 👉 Same LDL and ApoB drop as plant-based How evidence-based are the AHA's recommendations? For a nuanced deep dive, see today's letter on reversing fatty liver (3/3 in 🧵👇)
How to Reduce Liver Fat by 68% in 6 Months (Proven in RCTs) 1/3) Fatty liver affects roughly 1 in 3 adults. But it's rapidly reversible. In fact, in a 6-month weight-loss-controlled, human randomized trial, a low-carb diet (4% Calories from carbs) beat a Mediterranean diet and a low-fat plant-based diet for reducing fatty liver. Absolute reducing in intrahepatic triglycerides (fat in the liver: 19.4 to 6.2) And it not only reduced liver fat more effectively, but also improved insulin resistance and reduced the liver's production of new sugar and fat...

WHICH RUNG IS BEST FOR YOU? The Proper Human Diet has more than one level, and you get to pick the spot where your body does best. Low-Carb is under 100 grams of total carbs a day. Keto is under 20. Ketovore is under 10. Carnivore is close to zero, animal foods only. Lion is meat, salt and water. The rules stay the same at every level. Real whole foods. No ultra-processed food, no grains, no seed oils, no added sugar, no Keto-labeled products and no bliss-point snacks. If you're lean and healthy, Low-Carb may be all you need. If you're fighting hyperinsulinemia or type 2 diabetes, you'll likely do better further down the ladder. Start where you can stick with it, and move down if your labs and your waist don't budge. Where are you on the ladder right now?

This is a joke, right? Please put your hand up if you have reversed type 2 diabetes with diet and movement so we can educate this mainstream cardiologist. Diabetes, like so many chronic diseases is completely reversible if you improve what you eat and move your body. Full stop.

This is unbelievable! Frédéric is right. And the Dutch press release tells you why. The Netherlands Nutrition Centre cut its meat advice from 500 grams to 300 grams a week, with a max of 100 grams of red meat. Their own examples show 100 grams raw is one small piece of steak. Per WEEK. Legumes went up to 250 grams a week. Cheese got cut in half. How did they get there? Their press release says the calculations set limits for greenhouse gas emissions and water use. That's climate math in a food guide. Compare the NutriRECS panel in Annals of Internal Medicine. Five systematic reviews, GRADE methods, and environmental impact explicitly left out. Their advice: adults can continue their current red meat intake. The evidence for cutting it was low certainty. I've made videos on the red meat scare for years (see below). If red meat were really the problem, why did they need emissions math to justify the cap? Meat is a health food... Sources and my videos below... – at Tennessee, USA
Some of the dietary guidelines out there are just insane. The Netherlands now recommends a red meat cap of max 100 g ... a week (!) For Homo sapiens, - a species that has evolved on meat and animal fat as staple foods. Even chimps eat more than that.

Literal FOOLISHNESS from WebMD. They left out the part that matters most: what you eat when you do eat. Your gallbladder squeezes hardest when fat hits your gut. Starve it of fat and the bile just sits there. In a trial of two very low calorie diets, 6 of 11 people on the nearly fat free version (3 grams of fat a day) developed gallstones. On the version with 12 grams of fat a day: 0 of 11. The higher fat group's gallbladders emptied significantly better. Fat phobia is bad for your gallbladder. Eat real animal fat with your meals and let that organ do its job.
Your gallbladder releases bile each time you eat. When you skip meals, those bile juices build up. This raises the cholesterol levels in your gallbladder. Over time, the waxy fats can harden into gallstones. Some bile acids also may make you more likely to get gallbladder cancer. So carve out time for regular meals. wb.md/4e8G1Ln

Just a quick clarification about videos on No Carb Life… I've received a few comments recently from people who are concerned that I'm now charging to watch interviews. I want to make something absolutely clear. Every interview on No Carb Life is FREE to watch, and that isn't changing! The only difference is that channel members get to watch new interviews a little earlier as a thank-you for supporting the channel. Unfortunately, YouTube sometimes recommends these early-access videos to people who aren't members yet. When you click on one, it can look as though you need to pay to watch it. You don't! You just need to wait until the video is released to everyone. I have no intention of putting my interviews behind a paywall. My goal has always been to share people's experiences with the carnivore diet with as many people as possible. So if you see a video that says "Members First” please don't worry. It will be available for everyone to watch for free very soon! Thank you for watching and supporting No Carb Life!

Fiber is not an essential nutrient. Your gut does not need it. Appetite control comes from protein and fat, not psyllium. In a 2012 study of 63 people with chronic constipation, the ones who stopped eating fiber entirely were all cured within six months. The ones who kept eating high fiber? No improvement. Read the actual study. Link below...

A normal A1C doesn't necessarily mean normal insulin levels. A1C estimates average blood glucose. Fasting insulin measures insulin circulating after a fast. It can add helpful context about insulin resistance. Ask your doctor to interpret both alongside your health history.

Had a great time at #LC4BH (Low Carb for Better Health) a couple weeks ago. Even signed some books people brought with them! 🥰📚 Always good to see people I only see a few times a year at things like this, like @deckerlesscarbs @KenDBerryMD @DoctorTro @drtonyhampton @ketosavage @REV_Insulin_Res @carbaddictcoach and so many others. We had a screening of the Healing Humanity documentary (@HHDocumentary) ... incredibly moving. It's impossible to ignore or dismiss the power of dietary carbohydrate restriction. Does everyone need to eat this way? No. But it can be profoundly therapeutic for so many -- particularly when (numerous) conventional treatments failed them, and their doctors are out of ideas. 🥩🍖🐟🍗🍳🧀

Low-carb means giving up everything you love? Yeah, no. That’s baloney. You don’t have to make food miserable to eat fewer carbs. There are plenty of ways to keep the flavors and meals you love in the mix. Low-carb eating should fit your life, not turn every meal into a punishment. Progress beats purity.
