Outside LAFLA's Santa Monica office. Santa Monica paid them over $700k last year. LA County sent $157 million countywide between 2020 and 2025, and City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto's October 9 report found $55 to $87 million that doesn't match LAFLA's public records. Nithya Raman steered over $106 million their way. LAFLA disputes the findings and says the money is accounted for.
Santa Monica's oversight is twice-yearly reports and risk-based reviews, not a full audit. Given what's come to light, every contract with them deserves one. I'd also push to digitize all city contracts/audits online so any resident can track where their tax money goes.
