#Ethiopia is once again sliding towards armed conflict. How many more wars must its people endure before its leaders learn? They continue to impose violence than building mutual respect. Is Ethiopia heading toward fragmentation into separate states? @USUN @StateDept @BBCNews

Getachew, before lecturing our hero President Isaias Afwerki, perhaps explain your alliance with Abiy Ahmed while Tigray continues to suffer. Funny how some politicians find time to lecture others but never answer for their own choices. @GetachewK_R @AbiyAhmedAli @SecRubio
President Isaias was in Moscow for the Russia-Africa Summit. In an interview with Sputnik, he made it abundantly clear he was “not coming from the vantage point of Eritrea and Eritrean interests because it has nothing to do with the reality on the ground.” One is at a loss what to make of such a statement coming, as it does, from a leader of an impoverished nation that spends most of its meager resources more to bankroll destabilizing campaigns throughout the region than in building badly needed clinics or schools. Far from pursuing bilateral relations that could perhaps help improve the plight of his people, he has made it perfectly clear he is more interested in ‘righting the wrongs’ in the global financial system including addressing the containment policy against Russia than in taking care of bread and butter issues of the people of Eritrea. In light of President Isaias’ proclivities to punching above his weight, such grandstanding is not entirely out of character. What’s so striking about his remarks in Moscow, however, his dismissal of the relevance of individual countries’ cases including that of Eritrea as agenda in the summit in Moscow called exactly to address Russia’s relations with African countries. Many on social media were commenting on President Isaias’ dejected look, with his hands loosely hanging by his waist, and looking confused and out of place. Indeed, for a casual observer, the Eritrean president cut a sad figure throughout the summit and appeared to have difficulty fitting in the hustle bustle in Moscow. But that’s beside the point. The bottomline is President Isaias didn’t hold any bilats, didn’t address the gathering nor proffer his unsolicited views on global order to the Summit. He was just too bored to broach such silly subjects as Russo-Eritrean relations or Russo-African relations. If anything, this is yet another admission by the Eritrean President for life that when it comes to his priorities as a leader it is the unfairness in the global order, not Eritrea’s national interest, that comes front and center. After all, Eritrea has always been too small a project for a president whose imperial overreach knows no boundaries.

Funny how Ethiopia’s regime receives World Bank funding while weapons flow in from other sources, amid reports of violence against its own people. When will taxpayers wake up & ask where their money really going? 🤔 @SecRubio @realDonaldTrump @AUC_PAPS @IGADsecretariat @eu_eeas
❗️Hypocracy at its finest The regime in Addis Ababa kept complaining about the “militarization” of East Africa. And yet, it has just spend 8 billion dollars of “AID MONEY” to go out for a shopping spree in Moscow. For what purpose? to just threaten its neighbors. Yes the government in #Ethiopia did spend billions of dollars on armaments. Yes it just slashed 8 billion dollars on new armaments from #Russia. But, PP is dropping those bombs on #Tigray, #Amhara & #Oromia. That’s excluding #Sudan. 8 years in power. Close to 1 million people vanished in Tigray & Amhara combined. Just today, PP drones just killed close to 23 innocent civilians in Tigray. There is nothing positive with PP, except war, destruction, instability etc @SecRubio @StateDept @antonioguterres @EUSR_Weber @MFAEgOfficial @MFA_China @mfa_russia @WhiteHouse

More than 10 innocent civilians were reportedly killed and 20 wounded in a drone strike by the Ethiopian government in Rama, Tigray. How many more innocent lives must be lost before the world pays attention? Civilian communities continue to face deadly attacks, while the international community remains largely silent. The killing of innocent civilians must stop. Silence is not an answer. The world must speak up and demand accountability. @BBC @cnnbrk @FoxNews @AJEnglish

The ritual is predictable and repugnant as ever! Potemkin Party's broken gramophone has to emit- almost every other day - the same stale chorus. Its senior political and military leaders have apparently been instructed to renew their loyalty pledges to the delusional project in some pre-arranged shift system - "ጸማም ሓደ ደርፉ!" እዩ እቲ ነገሩ። For the umpteenth time, let us underline that the countries and peoples of the Horn do not deserve another cycle of war and turmoil that stem from, and are stoked by, the Potemkin Party's pipedreams of "grandeur" through brazen violation of the inviolable sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbors.

Egypt 🇪🇬 warns Ethiopia 🇪🇹 at the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow 🇷🇺 Egypt opposes the militarization of the Horn of Africa or any change in the status quo for the countries bordering the Red Sea. Egypt faces severe water scarcity and relies primarily on the Nile River. He emphasized the importance of river management, prior notification, and consultation. Transboundary waters should be a bridge for cooperation, not a cause for conflict—this is how Egypt deals with African countries. He added that Egypt opposes the militarization of the Red Sea and the presence of non-littoral states in it. This came during the general session of the "Russia-Africa" Forum summit in Moscow today, with the participation of 48 African countries and the attendance of the presidents of 22 countries. @mog_china @NadiaMa14905909 @EgyptForeignMin @khaledmahmoued1 @infowars @InfowarsJournal @RealAlexJones @realDonaldTrump @Trump
Russia’s 🇷🇺 False Mediation: Arms to Ethiopia 🇪🇹 Undermine Peace Offer to Eritrea 🇪🇷 Moscow’s Dialogue Proposal Coincides with Advanced Weapons Transfers to Addis Ababa Russia’s recent offer to mediate between Eritrea and Ethiopia appears increasingly hollow as Moscow simultaneously finalizes major arms deliveries that strengthen the Ethiopian military amid Addis Ababa’s open demands for access to Eritrea’s sovereign coastline. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov stated that Moscow is ready to host contacts between the two sides, including on the sidelines of the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow on 28–29 October 2026, if both parties agree. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki are both expected to attend.¹ Yet the timing undercuts the gesture: on the summit’s opening day, Abiy announced Ethiopia’s receipt of the first 12 Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets from Russia, with four S-400 air-defence batteries to follow—delivered a year ahead of schedule.² Ethiopia’s Aggressive Posture and Russian Enablement These deliveries form part of a broader pattern. Ethiopia has also received Russian Orion-E drones and Yak-130 trainers, while Moscow has signed agreements to help the landlocked country rebuild a navy.³ ⁴ Ethiopian leaders have repeatedly framed “sovereign access to the sea” as irreversible, language Eritrea regards as a direct challenge to its territorial integrity and a potential prelude to aggression. Eritrea has already severed diplomatic ties after Ethiopia closed its embassy in Asmara and expelled Eritrean diplomats. Rather than pressing Ethiopia to respect Eritrean sovereignty, cease hostilities, and end reported support for Eritrean opposition groups, Russia is arming the side making expansionist claims. Historical precedent reinforces the concern. From 1977 to the early 1990s, the Soviet Union supplied Ethiopia with billions of dollars in weaponry that sustained campaigns against Eritrean independence forces.⁵ In the late 1990s, under Boris Yeltsin, Russia provided Ethiopia with superior Su-27 fighters while selling Eritrea the less capable MiG-29; Russian sources reportedly informed Ethiopian counterparts of Eritrea’s purchases, tipping the air balance.⁶ Eritrea’s Consistent Support for Russia Goes Unreciprocated Eritrea has long demonstrated goodwill toward Russia. It was one of only five UN member states to vote against the 2022 General Assembly resolution condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, opposing unilateral sanctions and calling for diplomacy.⁷ Asmara has also refrained from offering Russia a naval base, preserving strategic balance. Yet these positions have not translated into Russian pressure on Ethiopia to halt its Red Sea ambitions or proxy activities. Double Standards in the Sudan War Russia’s regional role further highlights inconsistency. While Wagner-linked elements previously backed Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), official Russian channels have engaged the Sudanese Armed Forces. Meanwhile, investigations by Reuters and the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab have documented Ethiopian territory and military facilities being used to train and support RSF fighters operating against Sudanese government forces.⁸ Ethiopia, now receiving advanced Russian systems, stands accused of facilitating this proxy dimension. Eritrea has publicly noted these contradictions. A mediation offer unaccompanied by demands that Ethiopia respect Eritrean sovereignty, stop arming opposition elements, and end regional destabilization risks appearing as cover for continued military support to Addis Ababa rather than genuine peace facilitation. Russia describes both countries as partners and calls for restraint; actions on the arms front speak louder. Ethiopia has taken delivery of 12 Russian-made Su-35 fighter jets and will later receive four S-400 air defence systems from Moscow as part of a drive to bolster its military capabilities, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said on Wednesday. reuters.com/world/africa/eth…
