Guys I love the concept of the popular vote interstate compact. It's dangerous because once we sign on, good people will campaign as if it's real. And then the minute results are in, bad people will bring unbearable pressure on participating states to break away...
Like what if PA votes for the GOP candidate but popular vote goes for Dems. ICan you imagine the PA legislature resisting the huge political pressure they will be under for their electoral votes to reflect their own voters ? Unless ever single state has agreed it doesn't work...

I stopped by Renee and Alex’s memorials today and was inspired to see all those who showed up to pay their respects and leave an “I voted” sticker.
We have not forgotten. Accountability is coming.
Cheesecake factory customers don't come from the places they are located. They are for tourists visiting the big city from their little towns. I call foul on the very important electoral metric
Msnbc just cut to Trump first live remarks after election and .... He's droning about the ballroom. It's ... Almost frightening
Lol this was literally a bit in the Onion re WW2... NY Times made their headline so big it didn't fit on the phone

I was with Ann Richards on election night in 1994 when she conceded to Gov. Bush (t was one of those big brick looking cell phones). I was next to her when the lights went out for Democrats in Texas. For 32 years I have been waiting, praying, grieving loss after loss. Cycle after cycle. Election after election.
And tonight, we elected James Talarico to the United States Senate and Gina Hinojosa Governor of Texas.
Ann is the reason I’m in politics at all. She gave a young gay man from Houston his first shot, and she taught me that the first step is to stop waiting for someone else to do it. Tonight, nobody waited. Not the block walkers who knocked doors in August heat for candidates everyone said couldn’t win. Not the organizers who kept registering voters in counties the consultants had written off. Not the candidates who ran and lost in ‘02 and ‘06 and ‘14 and ‘18 and ‘22 and did it anyway, because every one of those campaigns built something the next one stood on. Not the donors who gave when the smart money said Texas was a lost cause. Not the young people who looked at a state that had never once voted for them and decided to make it vote for them. Not the Tejano moms in the Valley, the suburban dads in Collin County, the church ladies in my beloved Houston who have been doing this work since before James Talarico was born.
Tonight belongs to all of them. To Gina and James and their families, who carried the weight of 30 years of hope with grace. To the staff who haven’t slept since the primary. To every Texan who got told no for three decades and showed up one more time.
The lights are back on in Texas. I know Ann is watching from heaven tonight, and I know exactly what that grin looks like.
Thank you, Texas. Thank you, everyone. Now let’s go to work. #TX2026
Best news of the day already? The lack of any reports of the widespread voter intimidation by federal agents that we feared

Happy Republicans starting to be concerned with the deficit again eve for those who celebrate
Unbendably.... This is an accurate summary
Stevens offers her most detailed explanation (in writing) of what happened. Distilled further: She made demands of him, which, she acknowledges, he met. But because he didn't want her to campaign with him because she was making demands, she then pulled her endorsement

Starting to thing George Lucas made a mistake by exposing a generation of youth to multiple seasons of Clone Wars cartoon as their primary Star Wars narrative - undercut his own narrative by making Anakin the hero not the villain
This is such an insane argument. One more time from the chorus: YOU CAN'T REGISTER TO VOTE TO BEGIN WITH UNLESS YOU ARE A CITIZEN

An old family friend in Montana was telling me recently about the great time she had as a 17-y.o. visiting NYC with her friends back in the late 70s:
she: “Of course my dad would never have let me do that today…”
me: “… what do you mean? Why?”
she: “Well, it’s so dangerous now!”
My brain almost melted. The 70s!! Right-wing media is monstrously effective at creating a wholesale alternate reality.
