UPDATE: The European refrigeration cyberattack has now reached Italy and Romania, bringing the total to at least 10 countries affected across Europe.
In Italy, several Coop stores in Sicily were hit, including at least three in Catania and one in Palermo. In Romania, at least six stores have reportedly been affected.
Some affected businesses have yet to publicly disclose the incidents, meaning the actual number of countries and locations impacted could be even higher.
The full scale of this cyberattack remains unknown.

Latvia has just assumed the Presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the first time.
On this day in 1919, Latvian Colonel Krišjānis Berķis signed the order to launch a counteroffensive against German-Russian forces.
After liberating Riga, Latvian forces went on to achieve full victory in the Latvian War of Independence, securing the sovereignty of their young republic in international law.
107 years later, this now enables Latvia to take a world leading role in standing up for the sovereign rights of all nations to exist in peace and security under international law.

Pennsylvania officials caught a scheme involving 10 forged mail-in ballot applications submitted by a woman from Idaho.
The best part? She was an independent contractor for Mobilize the Message, a conservative voter outreach operation founded by Republican strategist Cliff Maloney.
The system worked as designed. All 10 applications were flagged and rejected. No ballots were issued.
The irony? A Republican-aligned political operation caught up in an election-fraud investigation. Meanwhile, Scott Perry was already misrepresenting what actually happened.
Facts matter. Apparently, especially when Republicans are doing the explaining.

Talked to my dad in Ukraine. Today is the anniversary of the day he moved to Kyiv from Poltava to pursue his PhD.
The letter he received from the university said that he had to show up there at 9 AM on November 1st.
He only had a short time to pack, and what’s worse, there were no train or plane tickets available.
As was often the case in the Soviet Union, my grandmother arranged for him to fly on a mail plane through someone she knew.
So, on October 31st, my dad boarded an An-2 plane to Kyiv. There were only two passenger seats available. The rest of the space was taken up by mail covered with a tarp.
My dad found out why it was covered shortly afterward, when it started raining and it turned out that the plane’s roof was leaking in several places.
Shocked by what he was witnessing, my dad went up to the pilot and asked him if it was dangerous.
“Don’t you worry!” the pilot said. “The floor is leaking too, so we won’t drown!”
This story made me laugh. I hope it puts a smile on your face too!

REMINDER: TRUTH is a complete defense to defamation claims.
🚨 BREAKING: A federal judge has DISMISSED Trump’s defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal over its reporting on his alleged birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein.
The judge dismissed the case WITH PREJUDICE, meaning Trump cannot simply refile the lawsuit in the same court.
In a major First Amendment ruling, the judge rejected Trump’s argument that his denials should have prevented the newspaper from publishing its reporting, warning that such a standard would run afoul of the Constitution.
The judge also described the Journal’s reporting as a “thoughtful and detailed investigation” and concluded that Trump’s defamation claims “lack merit.”
The judge left open the possibility that Trump could be ordered to pay the newspaper’s attorneys’ fees.
Trump can appeal, but for now, this is a major legal defeat.
