I just finished Hudson's Killing the Host, after reading Mises' Human Action, Hayek's The Road to Serfdom, and Rothbard's Man, Economy, and State last year.
Hudson's book is better than all three combined. Austrian economics is a thousand-page handjob for landlords.

“The money that doesn’t exist”🤣 of course it doesn’t. Until the government votes to spend it. THEN it exists. We use a fiat currency (fiat=by decree). Decree the spending and the money is created.
(See Exchequer Act 1866, S13 & S15).
“Next year he actually has to find the money that doesn’t exist.”
“There are things the Government can do that aren’t just about tax.”

I spent five years visiting the different Christian communities of the Middle East and I can say with authority that your conclusions are way off, and reek of ignorance about the way Christian and Muslim communities in the Middle East coexist. Murderous Islamist are certainly there, in the same way murderous gunmen exist in the US, regularly shooting down school kids; but to claim they are the norm is simply to show you actually know nothing about this world.
Two things I’ll say about this statement from the Patriarchs in Jerusalem that Huckabee is too diplomatic and gracious to say himself:
1) Without the protection of Zionism, they’re dead. Their churches burned, holy sites destroyed, their women raped, and their congregations beheaded by Islamists.
2) The Patriarchs in Jerusalem have openly admitted to cooperating with Hamas and PA propaganda in exchange for protection in Gaza and the West Bank. They know Israel’s protection is unconditional, but Palestinian protection is conditional on them taking public stances on Israel like this. Pizzaballa admitted this himself. The previous Patriarch, Sabbah, was even worse—a supporter of Palestinian Intifada and a Hamas apologist. This statement must be seen in that context.
I wish Catholics and Orthodox brothers I otherwise respect would stop taking statements like this from a heavily compromised church leadership in Jerusalem at face value.
In the comments, I will link to an article from a Catholic Journal outlining the Jerusalem Catholic church’s history of corruption and compromise with Islamic terror in exchange for protection.

Excellent thread on the fact that a far right, Nazi-literature-selling bookshop was working the Battle of Ideas, while a panel there ignored it and fretted about antisemitism on the left.
A thread about antisemitism and Battle of Ideas:
At the recent Battle of Ideas a far right bookshop called Oldspeak Books was listed as the official festival bookshop. 1/

🚨 THIS SHOULD ALARM EVERY PARENT IN ENGLAND.
Tomorrow, the Government is expected to receive 27 recommendations on tackling antisemitism in schools and colleges.
Among the reported proposals:
• Schools to reconsider political symbols, including Palestinian watermelon badges.
• New guidance on teaching the Israel–Palestine conflict, emphasising political impartiality.
• Greater scrutiny of how teachers discuss geopolitical issues.
• Encouraging schools to adopt the IHRA definition of antisemitism, including its controversial examples relating to Israel.
Let me be absolutely clear...
Antisemitism must be challenged wherever it exists. Jewish children deserve to feel safe in every school.
But this is not about antisemitism.
IT IS ABOUT BRAINWASHING OUR CHILDREN TO COVER UP OUR GOVERNMENT'S COMPLICITY IN WAR CRIMES.
What the hell are we doing when expressing solidarity with Palestinians becomes something schools are encouraged to challenge?
When teachers are expected to demonstrate political impartiality, who decides what constitutes impartiality?
And since when should the documented genocide and displacement of Palestinians be treated as simply another political opinion?
Human rights ARE NOT a partisan position.
International law IS NOT a matter of political preference.
The slaughtering of civilians IS NOT something we should teach children to be indifferent about.
Education is being hijacked for political conditioning rather than encouraging children to think critically.
If we reach a point where children are discouraged from showing solidarity with victims of oppression, where teachers fear telling the truth about atrocities, and where political impartiality becomes a euphemism for silence, then we have crossed a truly terrifying, line.
Education should teach children to recognise injustice, question authority and stand up for humanity, not to condition them to look the other way when those in power are responsible.
And if our Government is more concerned about children wearing Palestinian badges than the suffering those badges represent, then we need to ask ourselves a very serious question:
Are we educating the next generation to prevent the atrocities of history from happening again, or teaching them how to accept them when they do?
