We mourn the passing of Patrick Stewart, who inspired countless individuals at NASA (and beyond) to boldly go where no one has gone before.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026) Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love. We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway. America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire. His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen. Ian McKellen 29 October 2026 Photo: University of Huddersfield

A timely repost: Happy Warrior Entertainment is so proud to have produced this incredible project. Now, more than ever, we need the wisdom of our intellects, the patriotism of our citizens, and the passion and talents of those who still believe in the American experiment. I am deeply grateful to Timothy Snyder for his 20 Lessons On Tyranny and for talents of the brilliant John Lithgow for bringing them to life. Great thanks to David Bender for his vision, the support of Abigail Disney, Susan Disney Lord, and Timothy Disney, and the imagination and direction of Sean McGowan, the producer of the PoliticsGirl Project. @TimothyDSnyder

Derrick Van Orden's AI slop deepfake videos of me reek of despiration. I can take a hit. But if he's willing to use AI to spew lies and put words in my mouth, what else is he lying to us about?

👋🏼Since there’s news about this race being a dead heat and Washington Republicans scrambling to bail out Richard Hudson, let me take a moment to reintroduce myself: I’m Richard Ojeda. I spent 24 years in uniform, deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, and served right here at Fort Bragg in #NC09. I didn’t serve this country just to watch politicians sell out working families to Big Pharma like Richard Hudson has done. Check out our new ad, “Corrupt,” and chip in $5 or $10 to help us keep it on the air: secure.actblue.com/donate/ri…

We lost one of the greats of stage and screen today. And, in my book, a tremendous friend and man. I learned so much from him. I will miss you, Patrick Stewart, all of my days. @mang0ld

I try to keep it clean but government insiders taking away the power of the auditor to find waste, fraud, and abuse of tax dollars is bulls*^t. If I'm elected, we will work together to restore the powers to the auditor's office - no matter who is elected - because that is what taxpayers deserve.

Thank you for your support, Maia. Every day, Russia makes the same choice – to kill. And only through joint pressure, joint action, and unity with our neighbors, all of Europe, and the entire world can we stop Russia and prevent this evil from spreading further. Ukraine is always ready to support its neighbors on security matters, and we expect our strong bilateral relations with Moldova to be exactly that – standing shoulder to shoulder for the sake of security and bringing guaranteed peace closer.
Russia is choosing escalation over peace. Today it hit a passenger train at Dnipro station, killing civilians, and struck homes in Chernihiv and Kremenchuk. Deliberate attacks on civilians are war crimes. Pressure on Russia must grow. Moldova stands with Ukraine.

Thank you, Emmanuel, for your condolences. Unfortunately, the death toll from the Russian strike on a commuter train in Dnipro has already risen to 14. And just a few hours ago, the Russians struck a residential neighborhood in Chernihiv with a drone and killed two girls. They were only 15 years old. In Kremenchuk, a Russian “shahed” struck an apartment building. Tragically, three people were killed. My condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. In these three attacks alone, 56 people have been reported injured, including 10 children. These are deliberate strikes against civilians, brazen in their cruelty, and the Russians are carrying them out right as the humanitarian operation in Oleshky is unfolding. Russia’s signals are clear – they want the war to continue, and everyone around the world must still work very hard to achieve major de-escalation through strong steps and appropriate pressure on the aggressor. Peace is needed – and for that to happen, Russia must end its war and terror.

With the money spent on this illegal war in Iran, we could provide pre-K for every four-year-old in America. We suffer not from a poverty of resources, but a lack of moral imagination.

As someone tuned into organizing efforts on the ground and the election protection coordination, I’m pragmatically optimistic. Dem voter turnout operations are elite. Partner orgs are stepped into high gear. Volunteers are plentiful. On the ground sentiment reflects what we’re seeing in polling. The backlash is real. On the back end of the vote, Senate, House, and State AG Dems have all been war gaming every election interference scenario imaginable. Alert systems are in place. Lawsuits primed and ready. Volunteers ready. We’re ready. Donald will fail. Go vote.
