Never Forget. Twenty-five years ago this morning, America was attacked. Nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered in New York, at the Pentagon, and in a Pennsylvania field. First responders ran toward the fire while the rest of the country watched in horror. Passengers on Flight 93 fought back and stopped the fourth plane from reaching its target. The towers fell. The Pentagon burned. A field in Shanksville became sacred ground. What did not fall was the American spirit. We remember the 343 FDNY firefighters, the police officers, the Port Authority officers, the EMTs, and every civilian who helped a stranger that day. We remember the families who still live with the empty chairs. We remember those who later died from the toxins they breathed while searching the pile. We remember that ordinary people became heroes in a single morning. Tonight the Tribute in Light will again send two beams into the New York sky, standing in for the towers that once stood there. Across the country there will be names read, bells rung, and moments of silence. That is right. Memory is not optional. We do not forget what was done to us. We do not forget who we are. We do not forget the men and women who ran toward the danger so others could live. Never forget. Never again. God Bless the fallen, their families, and the United States of America. 🇺🇸
