Brighton Council has now amended its plans for the Withdean Pool to include single-sex changing cubicles (hopefully in separate areas, though unclear). Original mixed-sex design was unsafe for women and girls.
Thank you for listening to residents’ feedback, @BrightonHoveCC.
This is Brighton Council's Equality Impact Assessment for the proposed Withdean Pool with its mixed-sex changing village (via FOI).
‘Does your analysis indicate a disproportionate impact relating to Gender Identity and Sex (including non-binary and intersex people)?’
‘Possibly YES – positive’ 🧐
Women and girls don’t need to worry about their safety in mixed-sex facilities because of ‘cubicle design’ and ‘operational management’.

I feel quite emotional reading this.
It came years too late but I pay my respects to RCEW CEO Ciara Bergman and the Board of Trustees who I know will have pored over this. Thank you.
Women victim-survivors of sexual & domestic violence & abuse deserve women only spaces. Finally.
A clear statement from @RapeCrisisEandW
- Every adult and child who has experienced sexual violence deserves access to to support
- The Rape Crisis National Service Standards recognise the benefit of women only services and spaces
- RCEW Centres MUST provide women-only spaces and services
- This does not mean that they cannot *also* provide services (or referral) for male survivors including trans-identifying men.

An Oxford lecturer is still posing in fake breasts despite criticism.
“There’s no evidence that this man identifies as a woman, but transgender demands muddy the water so that normal standards of behaviour are undermined.” @DerryBanShee in @jan_murray’s latest for [Un]Captured.

“We expect everyone involved in teaching to maintain appropriate professional standards and to treat students with respect.”
That was Oxford University's response when [Un]Captured asked about a male tutor wearing giant prosthetic breasts to work.
Biochemistry lecturer Matt Rattley has kicked off the autumn term with new photos wearing his infamous ‘norks’ - including one in a lecture theatre with students.
The university declined to discuss individual personnel matters.

"Another reason given for the surgery suspension was an approach, also in August, from what NHS Wales calls a “whistleblower” within the NHS. Dr Joseph Chrysostom had submitted a 42-page dossier about the complete lack of regulatory oversight of gender surgery in the UK and its miss-selling to vulnerable patients by the NHS."
What has been going on at the Welsh Gender Service is a big story. Thanks to NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee's commitment to relative transparency*, we can see it unfold.

NHS Wales papers say “many of the safeguards within the assessment process are not being followed in practice” at the Welsh Gender Service.
NHS Wales is meeting on Friday to discuss the concerns. We will be watching. Kudos to @nickwallis who's been on this since the go.

"“It is right that Labour backbenchers are sounding the alarm on the draft Conversion Therapy Bill. It is a complete mess and the risk of criminalising parents just for trying to support their children as advocated by Dr Cass is clearly unacceptable"

It should never have been otherwise. But this is good to see - women at the most vulnerable can feel a little safer.

This statement by @oliviabaileymp is a mess. The Conversion Practices Bill is amply capable of criminalising normal parenting. There's no "abuse threshold" at all - "abusiveness" is expressly a question of fact for the court/jury.
This was from back in June on the Conversion Practices Bill. There was only a handful of us raising concerns.
I remember being staggered at the time how clear it was that the Minister hadn’t read or understood her own bill. And she didn’t even attempt to answer the question on whether a parent withholding consent for a child to participate in the puberty blocker trial could be at risk of 5 years in prison.
This Minister is now the Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee.

Another trade union wing member recused from sitting on an employment appeal tribunal because of the appearance of bias when considering gender critical belief discrimination.
Gloria Mills is National Secretary for equalities at UNISON and was President of the TUC.
Some are more equal than others according to Unison.
Unison and the TUC have campaigned against the lawful gender critical views of the sort expressed by Peter Wilkins.
We are reporting today from the Employment Appeal Tribunal of Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (or DSTL) v Wilkins. DSTL is appealing.
Dr Peter Wilkins, a civil servant, won an employment tribunal case in March 2025 for constructive dismissal, harassment and direct discrimination based on his protected gender-critical beliefs.

Because a certain kind of man believes that not getting everything he wants from women is oppression. This applies both to incels and to the type of trans-identified man who insists that speech, laws and physical spaces should be reconfigured around his self-image.

The thing is, Mike, we aren't that fussed when we are in the queue at Tesco. We are a bit more worried if the person with a penis is in the locked female psychiatric ward, prison, changing room.
I KNOW! Context is really hard to understand.

💯 and this also applies to #NHSWales 🏴
🚨THIS is what @10DowningStreet @DHSCgovuk should be prioritising - a public inquiry to pull the #NHS back from its near total capture by gender ideology.
❌ NOT introducing amateur & unnecessary #ConversionPractices criminal legislation which will only reinforce that capture.
“There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, & indeed young adults has failed,” Baroness Hilary Cass told The Sunday Times".
@UKLabour eventually caught up that we were right about Self-ID being incompatible with single-sex provision, the scandal at GIDS etc.
It will possibly catch up soon that we're also right about the harms of the CP Ban Bill & the need to tackle transactivist/Stonewall ideological capture of the NHS, govt & public bodies...
But hell's teeth, it's hard work...
