I just read this on Facebook: Someone asked "Why do many British people not like Donald Trump?" Nate White, an articulate and witty writer from England, wrote this magnificent response: 1/

MAGA how can you possibly think Trump is not senile? Listen to the actual words he says in his speech.
Here’s another clip of a woman reading Trump’s words verbatim from a recent rally in Mississippi that puts a giant magnifying glass over how gone he is cognitively and unfit he is for office.

In other news, I’ve reached a landmark trade agreement with Morrisons. They’ve agreed to let me go into their stores and I’ll consider buying things. Could be huge.
This morning, I signed a landmark trade agreement with Tainan in Taiwan, strengthening ties between our regions and creating new opportunities for trade, investment and innovation. Greater Lincolnshire has a huge amount to offer, and this agreement is another step towards showing the world what we do best. 🇹🇼 🇬🇧

The rightwing victimhood industry in a nutshell: see an AI generated image, wet themselves with outrage, blame migrants, invoke WWII, demand the military be deployed, then leave the post up AFTER it’s exposed as fake. Imagine having a victimhood complex so massive that even your evidence is imaginary. The truth is irrelevant. The grift must go on. Clowns

Nigel Farage says it's banter, it's just what blokes say when they're relaxed down the pub after a few drinks. Well @Nigel_Farage I've been out with the Thursday club today, there were 10 of us, we all had 'a few drinks'. Not one of us used the word parasite when talking about others, not one of us likened a female to a child and declared that 'Thursday night would always be bath night', not one of us said that if a woman hugged us we would 'finger her'. It is not normal behaviour. You @Nigel_Farage are a disgusting human being, your company is a disgrace to the UK.

I’m not reposting it but that video of Trump and a tiger posted by him on his “truth” social is just disgusting. When I thought he couldn’t stoop any lower, he somehow manages it. He’s a stain on humanity.

If a white person born in Australia can be Australian without Aboriginal ancestry, and a white person born in America can be American without Native American ancestry, why can't a Black person born in England be English without Anglo-Saxon ancestry?

Measles is the most infectious virus known to man. It is so contagious that it can linger in a room for two hours after an infected person has left. Unless you're vaccinated Then it won't get you

Another night of police resources being unavailable to locals because George has dogwhistled to his followers to block police and border force doing their job by detaining migrants instead of letting them land and run away.

George, again, you are presenting all of those resources as though they were required simply to “protect illegal migrants”. ⠀ That is not what the police themselves say. ⠀ There were 149 people brought ashore. ⠀ They had to be transferred from RNLI lifeboats, medically assessed where necessary, placed onto coaches and transported securely to holding facilities in Kent for processing. ⠀ But there is another rather significant reason for the police presence. ⠀ PROTESTERS. ⠀ Hampshire Police explicitly said officers were deployed both to support the emergency response AND to facilitate peaceful protest. ⠀ They imposed Public Order Act conditions. ⠀ They introduced powers relating to face coverings. ⠀ They imposed a dispersal order. ⠀ Why would they need those measures if this was merely 149 people quietly stepping from lifeboats onto coaches? ⠀ Because crowds were gathering around Haslar Marina. ⠀ And the police already knew from the previous incident in Gosport what could happen. ⠀ On that occasion six people were arrested. ⠀ Charges included alleged assaults on emergency workers and a racially aggravated public-order offence. ⠀ So when you film a substantial police escort and describe it as: ⠀ “Look at the enormous security being provided for migrants” ⠀ you are leaving out a very important part of the reason that security was necessary in the first place. ⠀ The coaches were travelling through an area where people had specifically gathered to protest their presence. ⠀ That is rather different from some presidential-style motorcade being provided as a luxury. ⠀ And your comparison with Donald Trump is rather theatrical. ⠀ Trump receives protection because he is a former and current US President and an obvious security target. ⠀ These coaches required policing because officers had to move people safely through a developing public-order situation. ⠀ People absolutely have a right to protest peacefully against immigration policy. ⠀ But there is a rather obvious contradiction in encouraging large numbers of angry people to gather at the place where migrants are arriving, and then expressing astonishment that the police deploy substantial resources to keep everybody separated and safe. ⠀ If nobody gathered to confront the coaches, considerably fewer public-order officers would be required. ⠀ So perhaps some of the people complaining about the cost of the police operation should acknowledge what was actually creating much of the policing requirement. ⠀ Again, context matters.

90 years ago today, 30,000 people gathered on Holbeck Moor in Leeds to stop British fascist leader Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts holding a rally. My grandad was there to help stop the fascists. I was so proud to speak at the unveiling of the plaque commemorating that day.
