Every family’s baseball journey is different. You deserve guidance that puts your player first.
I created Respect the Game to help families navigate development, academics, and the decisions ahead—with perspective built over decades in baseball.

You are 100%. It’s a combination of a lot of different things, but not letting things slide is the first one. keeping a standard. Willing yourself to not strike out with men on second and third. Hard 90s. Just those little things that separate.

Feeling you buddy...the truth always prevails. It's the way the game was meant to be played. 👊

There was regression and major injuries this year, but last years Blue Jays team was the same way. They won with being the lowest K rate team and high batting averages

Another legendary Pat Murphy recruiting story. 🔱
After a night out on his ASU recruiting visit, Eric Hosmer showed up to breakfast on about 20 minutes of sleep.
Murphy immediately knew:
"Hosmer, you're disgusting. You went out last night." 💀

I figured that you did. Coach against him, but I know people that know him well and they say he’s a great kid. Definitely an athletic family.

Yes, I know his family a little bit through his uncle Trent who is the BYU head coach, his cousin Ozzie played at BYU a few years ago as well.

"I got up on the mound and Derek gets in the box... he looks at me and I look at him. We both smiled like, 'Man, this is gonna be fun.'"
Curt Schilling was ready for the moment in Game 7.

In the spring of 2018, a man walked into my gym and introduced himself as Pat Murphy. We had a few mutual friends and connections within the Milwaukee Brewers organization in which he served as Brewers bench coach.
—
Pat and I hit it off. He is a character unlike any. Moxy, faith, intellect, experience, leadership, humor; I remember thinking the guy had it all. He is a connector. Authentic.
——
We talked of his life’s wins and life’s struggles. And I knew quickly he was an invested father. Thirty minutes went by quickly and he left me with a read that was profound. A first inclination of his ability to impact.
——
We grabbed dinner at The Iron Horse a few times and eventually I’d coach his sons.
—
In 2021, the day my sister got married, Pat connected my older brother, Tim, with Arizona State Baseball. Within a month , Tim was serving them as the S&C coordinator before eventually coming back to the Brewers to be the Rehab S&C lead. Pat is an opportunity creator.
——
I haven’t seen Pat in years. He was never Murph to me, rather a friend and father in my community. A coaches, coach. A guys guy.
-
Today, I’m simply a fan. Without a doubt, we’ve watched one of the best coaches on the planet create a legacy in Wisconsin, baseball and sport.
—
So what’s the takeaway - connect, encourage and be fu⚡️🎉ing relentless.

The Brewers were the best team in baseball this year and it wasn’t close. Rasmussen of the Rays has been around and he says this was the best team he’s seen in over five years. Is this going to be the start of a correction the way they play the game in the MLB and below? What other offense and philosophy wears down and knocks out guys like Yamamoto and Skubal in four innings. Absolutely relentless! @zack_cozart @jaegersports @JWonCATCHING @DMEASrecruiting
