There you have it.... You need to eat a thousand gherkins a day to be better off under this @UKLabour Budget if you're a regular working person that doesn't claim benefits... That's beyond me however much I might want to stick it to the Man 😂
Around 17,500 jars at the mocked 4p saving each, to offset roughly £700 net from frozen thresholds after the £21 food cut. That is 350,000–440,000 gherkins a year, or nearly a thousand a day. The freeze dominates.

Today's update on the Daily Sceptic is here. Ofcom wants ID checks for all social media users over 16; Labour's Budget will send Net Zero costs soaring, warns Paul Homewood; and teacher Joe Baron exposes the rampant antisemitism in Britain's schools. dailysceptic.org/todays-upda…

Wow. Brilliant analysis by Bernie.
WTF? A Prime Minister who has never run a business in his life demands answers because a private business fails? … let me help you, Andy & co. A retail chain needs to stay in fashion, needs to go with the flow! … But you and successive governments don’t like their “tat” products (mostly sourced off shore to sell them at £1!!! That the whole point right?) anyway… for free (without a taxpayer funded £MULTIMILLION enquiry I’ll tell you the problems… (you’re welcome) ▪️massively increased regulations and compliance costs. ▪️cheap tat sourced from abroad, with rising shipping and transport costs. ▪️Hit by increased minimum wages and employer National Insurance. ▪️Hit by rising rents and business rates. ▪️Hit by soaring energy bills and net zero costs. ▪️Hit by higher interest rates. ▪️Hit by consumers with less disposable income. ▪️Hit by the soaring cost of borrowing to buy stock months in advance. ▪️Hit by higher insurance premiums. ▪️Hit by shoplifting, organised theft and security costs. ▪️Hit by packaging taxes, recycling regulations and environmental compliance costs.( which you just throw into general taxation, non of it changes the weather) ▪️Hit by higher fuel, warehousing and distribution costs. ▪️Hit by increased employment costs, pensions and statutory obligations. ▪️Hit by competition from overseas online retailers operating with very different overheads.( duty free … for foreign businesses oops) ▪️And hit by the impossibility of passing those costs onto customers, who shop at Poundland precisely because they need cheap stuff! … which isn’t cheap anymore (see above) Every single time you add something on … so do they! And the idiot, deluded politicians who have made Britain more and more expensive and difficult to do business in, are demanding to know why businesses are struggling? You are all moronic. My work here is done 🤡

If wind and solar are cheaper, then how come we're paying ~£12bn/yr in renewables subsidies? And even more in backup, grid balancing and expansion costs.
Clean Power is here to stay. Because cleaner power is cheaper power. Solar and wind are 75% cheaper than fossil fuels.

I do just wonder how this will affect people like me on a fixed term tariff for gas. Obviously I hope I will still get the benefit of the standing charge removal and not see any corresponding increase in the unit rate.
Thin gruel for bill payers as the Chancellor announces he will cut gas bills by up to £50 in the Budget, while average household energy bills are forecast to rise above £2,000 a year in the coming months. Healey plans to scrap standing charges on household gas bills and instead recover them through the unit price consumers pay. #CostOfNetZero
