My favorite Patrick Stewart story is that he loved driving dune buggies, so he demanded a scene in Nemesis where he drives a dune buggy, even though a. it makes zero sense that Starfleet would use dune buggies and b. it was totally out of character
But look at that smile.

In 1952, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand secretly paid for a dirt-poor 11-year-old to take a drama course.
He never told him and the boy didn’t find out until decades later.
By then, he was a knight, that little boy’s name was Patrick Stewart.
He was born into a poor family in Mirfield, a small mill town in Yorkshire and his father came home from World War II a violent man, and he was violent toward Patrick’s mother.
Young Patrick learned exactly when to step between his father’s fist and his mother.
An English teacher put a copy of Shakespeare in his hand and told him to get up and perform.
He never stopped and left school at 15.
By 19 he was completely bald... most agencies told him he'd never make it because of that.
In 1987, the LA Times called him an “unknown British Shakespearean actor” when he was cast as Captain Picard.
Then he became one of the most famous faces on Earth.
You’ve probably heard that part.
Here’s the part you haven’t:
He spent decades as a patron of Refuge, sheltering women and children from domestic violence.
But he never stopped trying to understand his father.
He dug up a 1940 newspaper clipping that said his dad had come home with severe shell shock.
He went to France and walked the ground where his father’s unit was pinned down under bombing for hours.
He learned his father had PTSD, and nobody ever helped him.
So Patrick became an ambassador for Combat Stress, a charity that helps veterans.
In 2013, a young woman at a Texas convention told him she was a survivor of domestic violence.
He asked, “My dear, are you okay?”
Then he hopped off the stage, held her, and told her: “You never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.”
At Dragon Con, a Make-A-Wish girl dressed as Spock came to meet him.
2,000 people were waiting for him to speak... he sat down and talked with her for 15 minutes, making all of them wait.
He told her that since they were friends now, whenever she saw him on screen she could wave and say, “Hello Patrick.”
After 9/11, he felt helpless, so he brought his one-man A Christmas Carol back to Broadway for a full week of charity shows.
He played every character himself and donated every cent.
In 2019 he did it again, and every dollar went to feeding hungry New Yorkers.
In 2017, he fostered a pit bull named Ginger, who had been rescued from a dogfighting ring.
She was his first dog in more than 50 years.
He couldn’t bring her home to England, so he found her a family.
Then he kept fostering more.
When he said he was done with Star Trek so many people told him the show had gotten them through the hardest times of their lives.
So he wanted to see if Picard could do it one more time.
Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick 🖖

I will never deal in fear. I deal in truth.
I don't believe for one second the grid is going down on any scale (not now, anyway).
If I'm wrong, I'm wrong (I'm not).
One thing I do know is that your Walmart battery-operated flashlight and canned tuna ain't gonna save you if the shit really goes down. Your gun won't even save you (but do be packing, tho.)
What will save you - what has ever saved anyone - was their community connections, creativity, actual survival skills, ability to lead without fear, ability to improvise, adapt, and overcome, and their ability to keep a calm head and strategic thinking intact in a potentially volatile situation.
Hone those skills first, fam.
Then get the tuna.

Important to note that this is a relative risk increase.
“Typical low birth weight rates (<2,500 g) are roughly 7–9% in high-income countries such as the US”.
A 7% increase of that is an increase of 0.5% in absolute risk. So risk of low birth weight goes from 7 to 7.5% in absolute terms.

Honestly that mindset in itself is a huge help in natural birth. The pain in labor isn’t pointless, it’s your body working towards a good end. Being able to make yourself not brace against the pain and relax through the contractions literally makes them a lot easier to bear, and often makes them less painful.
I have nothing against the choice of an epidural. I have my hang ups and things I’m aware are a bigger risk with them, but I don’t think it’s a bad choice or an inferior one.
I’ve had 3 unmedicated births so far and will probably have another. I’ve found a method that works so well for me, that it’s only truly painful during transition and pushing, which after my first, has only lasted a few minutes with my subsequent births.

Literal NONSENSE from Health.com.
Oatmeal, a smoothie and low-fat yogurt is a sugar bomb. Spike the glucose, spike the insulin, and insulin tells your kidneys to hold on to sodium. That's not a blood pressure lowering breakfast. That will increase your blood pressure. How dare I? Read on...
Their best evidence for oats? A 2 to 3 point drop. Wow.
In an actual randomized trial, patients who cut carbs under 20 grams a day dropped systolic pressure almost 6 points in 48 weeks. The low-fat (high-carb) group went UP. Same weight loss.
Carbs are optional & not helpful.
Eat the eggs, the meat and the animal fat, and watch your blood pressure come down...
Read the actual studies. Links below... – at Tennessee, USA
Blood pressure-friendly breakfasts include oatmeal, yogurt, and smoothies. They provide fiber, potassium, and calcium that help keep blood pressure in check. health.com/breakfast-foods-f…

Literal FOOLISHNESS from WebMD.
They left out the part that matters most: what you eat when you do eat.
Your gallbladder squeezes hardest when fat hits your gut. Starve it of fat and the bile just sits there.
In a trial of two very low calorie diets, 6 of 11 people on the nearly fat free version (3 grams of fat a day) developed gallstones. On the version with 12 grams of fat a day: 0 of 11. The higher fat group's gallbladders emptied significantly better.
Fat phobia is bad for your gallbladder. Eat real animal fat with your meals and let that organ do its job.
Your gallbladder releases bile each time you eat. When you skip meals, those bile juices build up. This raises the cholesterol levels in your gallbladder. Over time, the waxy fats can harden into gallstones. Some bile acids also may make you more likely to get gallbladder cancer. So carve out time for regular meals. wb.md/4e8G1Ln

In addition to animal welfare violations, these farms have been proven to engage in price fixing schemes internationally; they also cover up food safety fiascos.
We can fight the corporate excess from our own backyards, together!
A million chickens just killed, due to HPAI in rose acre farms facility.
Mass factory farms are pure hell for animals. And also just the perfect breeding grounds for disease.
A horrible end, to a million unique lives.
If you eat eggs, please consider raising and loving chickens of your own. Or Purchasing from someone who does that. ❤️
I hope they are someplace dust bathing in the sun 😢 💔 I’m sorry humans failed you so badly.

I'm glad to see this, but the likeliest driver isn't a direct anti-aging effect of the drug. Tirzepatide lowers insulin and body fat, and those changes alone should slow most aging markers. A new review of the epigenetic and proteomic data says some effects may be partly independent of weight loss, but it also says they don't yet prove slowed aging. The best use is still to let the drug curb carb cravings while a person builds protein-first meals and a lifting habit that keeps working after the last dose.
Tirzepatide may actually slow biological aging.
An epigenetic sub-study from Eli Lilly’s SURMOUNT-5 trial, presented at an aging research conference at Harvard, found that all 15 biological aging clocks advanced more slowly than chronological time. Some even moved backward.
This is a promising longevity signal.
Some of these improvements may come from weight loss and better metabolic health, but researchers are also investigating whether tirzepatide’s direct GLP-1/GIP metabolic actions provide additional benefits.
The key is getting the dose right.
You don’t want to suppress your appetite so much that you’re chronically undereating, losing muscle, or feeling depleted.
Find the lowest effective dose, eat sufficient protein, and lift heavy to preserve muscle.
Get those fundamentals right, and tirzepatide could be an incredible tool for both body composition and long-term metabolic health.
The anti-aging findings are preliminary, but the potential is exciting.

Peer-reviewed studies have to be funded by a vested interest. We will never have peer-reviewed studies that back up Intactivism because no one makes $ off of *not* harvesting neonatal tissue. Funny how he doesn't require peer-reviewed studies to condemn FGM..
Trust the science cuckoldry won't be tolerated here because it's illogical nonsense to expect million-dollar peer-reviewed studies to be done in support of things that are ultimately non-profitable. People would do well to aspire to rationality, ESPECIALLY when it concerns science.
Replying to @woodwardianone @grok
You made the argument that procedure in question didn't make dent in disease prevention. Regardless of it being cultural. I debunked your theory three times already.
Show the masses through peer reviewed studies that intactivism leads to healthier outcomes.

99% of women and girls in Somalia have been mutilated in the following way: the clitoris is cut off, along with the inner labia. Then the inner flesh of the outer labia is removed before both sides are sewn tightly together, leaving a hole no bigger than a matchstick for urine and menses to trickle through.
All of this is done in childhood, and without any form of anesthesia whatsoever. Sometimes the little girl is given a scrap of leather or a stick to bite down on. The cutters use old razor blades, or sometimes a piece of broken glass.
This is only the beginning of a girl’s pain.
Most wedding nights in Somalia are aided by “the little knife” — that is, the new husband slices his bride open so that he can penetrate her now cut and bleeding scar tissue. Some men, however, simply batter their way through, tearing that tiny hole open by sheer force. When a woman goes into labor, she’s cut open more widely, then sewn back up afterwards so that when sex resumes she will have to be cut open yet again.
This practice leads to countless deaths from infection and a drastic increase in maternal mortality, but Somali men still refuse to marry uncut women, forcing mothers to have their daughters cut or face social stigma. Uncut girls are seen as dirty; the term for clitoris is a playground taunt in Somalia, and girls who are not cut are usually ostracized by their peers.
The Somali government recently debated the legality of this appalling custom, and the parliament largely split along gender lines. Female MPs roundly condemned FGM, while male MPs insisted that having a clitoris made a woman more difficult to penetrate, and quoted the hadith in which Muhammad condoned the practice. These are educated men who nevertheless claim that cutting a girl is necessary in order to control her sexuality, and that an uncut woman will be promiscuous and untrustworthy.
In spite of the Somali government’s continued support for FGM, foreign aid continues to flow into Somalia unobstructed. The West should refuse to give the Somali government so much as a single dollar until they outlaw FGM and take positive steps to combat the problem.
One tactic that has been highly successful involves showing Somali men a video of a girl being mutilated. Because FGM is seen as women’s business, most men have no idea what it entails. Men who watch this video are horrified, and the most common reaction has been “Not my daughter!” This proves that FGM is not hopelessly entrenched in Somali culture. Western pressure and resources could make an enormous difference in the lives of Somali women and girls, and put a stop to this barbaric practice.
