On national TV, Sunny Hostin told America she was the holdout juror in the “Butcher of Tompkins Square Park” case. Daniel Rakowitz killed Monika Beerle, cut her up, boiled the remains, and served them to homeless people in the park. What the tf!!! Eleven jurors wanted a guilty verdict. Hostin said she talked them off it (one by one)until all twelve found him not criminally responsible by reason of insanity. He went to a psych ward, not a prison cell. She called that “a different type of prison” and said that’s how much she believes in the insanity defense. A woman was murdered and cooked. The co-hosts sat there stunned. The rest of us heard a morning-show host treat the most grotesque crime in the file like a résumé line. Unfreakingbelievable. This is the same woman that tried to get her son off from his crime. And people wonder why we say repeal the 19th amendment. Women like her make me sick. You don’t put these people in a mental hospital. You put them in prison or you give them the death penalty. I can’t believe she admitted this on live tv. Her mind think is dangerous to Americans.

Dario has written that we need to “pace the frontier,” and Sam has agreed. People may be surprised by my response: go ahead. You guys are the frontier. By any reasonable metric — market share, revenue growth, model capability — the two of you have a duopoly on frontier intelligence. You’ve also claimed the lead is widening because of recursive self-improvement. I don’t see what you see in the lab. If the unreleased models are scary enough that you think you should slow down, I support your decision to be responsible. But stop pretending you need anyone else’s permission. Stop pretending antitrust law has to be suspended so you can form a cartel. Stop pretending you need a regulatory approval process that supersedes product liability. Stop pretending METR is independent when it is intertwined with Anthropic’s investors and staff. Stop pretending you need those same evaluators to police competitors who aren’t even at the frontier. Most of all, stop pretending the motivation to slow down is purely altruistic. You face massive product-liability exposure if your products enable a truly damaging cyberattack. The market already punishes models that behave in unpredictable or unauthorized ways. After the Hugging Face episode, it is simply good business for OpenAI and Anthropic to trade some raw power for reliability and predictability. Call it alignment if you want. It is also just giving customers what they want. Pacing the frontier would also create breathing room for a more intelligent conversation about regulation than Bernie Sanders’ “shut it all down.” China is very unlikely to join a global agreement, as you know, and that has to be taken into account as well. So go ahead and pace the frontier. You are the ones setting it. The easiest way not to build superintelligence is for you to agree not to build it. Demanding your preferred regulatory framework as the price of that will look like blackmail of the public and the political system. So just do it. If you do, you’ll buy goodwill for the next conversation. If you don’t, we’ll know this was just another bid for regulatory capture — or an election-season psyop.

Are you serious with this? Why not just talk to your family and actually build a relationship. This guy is just out there.
cool use case of chatgpt work i heard last night: connect your family calendars and explain your kids' interests. every morning for the drive to school, have it make a podcast that talks about one kid's soccer game that afternoon, one kid's upcoming birthday, some news, etc.

There’s a new third-party seller scam happening with Amazon that I just encountered, and I’m curious if anyone else has experienced it. I ordered a product that was supposed to be delivered on September 2. While a shipping label was created, it never even shipped, but the shipping label creation makes it show up in Amazon’s system as having been shipped (this will become important later). After the scheduled date, which clearly was not going to be met, I received a message it would arrive September 5. I can’t cancel the order because Amazon thinks it’s shipped, and when I request a refund, it tells me I have to wait 48-72 hours after the missed shipping date to eve request a refund. September 5 arrives (the product still hasn’t shipped), and I get a new message saying it will arrive by September 8. That again resets the refund request clock. The third-party seller refuses to respond to any inquiries, and Amazon’s system won’t allow refunds to be requested since it think it’s already shipped and hasn’t passed whatever arbitrary post-scheduled delivery threshold required by Amazon. At this point it’s pretty obvious the whole thing is a scam. So I then leave a bad review and waste who knows how much time finally getting someone from Amazon on the phone. Amazon refunds my money. This is where it gets very weird. My review then gets crossed out on Amazon and Amazon adds a message below it claiming “The fulfillment issues associated with this order were not due to the seller.” This is obviously a lie. The seller created a fake label, never shipped the product, then repeatedly manipulated the scheduled delivery date to prevent customers from obtaining a refund via Amazon’s website. I start going through the 1-star reviews for this seller on Amazon, and Amazon has added this same lie/language to nearly every single negative review of this company over the last month. This strikes me as obvious fraud on behalf of both Amazon and the seller. The seller scams Amazon’s customers by refusing to fill or even ship orders, manipulates the system to prevent refunds, and then Amazon comes in and crosses out negative reviews and then lies about the third-party seller’s fraudulent scheme. How on earth is this legal?

The cap is there for a reason: Social Security taxes earnings only up to a limit because benefits are also calculated only up to that same limit. In 2026 the taxable maximum is $184,500. A worker who hits that ceiling pays the 6.2% employee tax on no more income, and those extra dollars do not count toward their benefit. The maximum monthly benefit at full retirement age is about $4,152. Someone earning $10 million does not get a $10 million retirement check. They get the same capped benefit as someone who earned the taxable maximum every year. That is the design. Social Security is structured as social insurance with a contribution base that matches the benefit base. Remove the tax cap and leave the benefit cap in place, and high earners would pay far more without receiving more. That breaks the link between what people pay in and what they can get back. It turns a payroll tax tied to a defined benefit into a general tax on wages above $184,500. If the argument is that the richest should pay more into the system, say so plainly and debate whether benefits should rise with those extra taxes, or whether this should become a transfer program instead of insurance. Pretending the cap is just a loophole for billionaires leaves out the other half of the rule. But of course they all know this and hide it.
96% of Americans pay Social Security Tax on 100% of their income. An incredibly easy way to solve this budget and services problem is to make the richest Americans do the same.

David Lee Roth caught mid-flight in a spotlight split jump while Eddie Van Halen shreds on his striped guitar at the Glasgow Apollo on May 27, 1978. Photographed by Fin Costello while opening for Black Sabbath on their debut world tour. 🎸 David Lee Roth brought martial arts athleticism and acrobatic stage leaps to arena rock, turning fronting a band into high-flying theater. Who do you consider the most dynamic frontman in rock history? 🎸 👇️

I’ve now eaten six burritos in the last 24 hours…enjoyed every one of them…all for under $10. That said I need to get off X for a few days to digest and touch grass

What I’ve learned here is that there’s literally nothing anybody can say short of “everything is horrible and we’re all gonna starve to death” that will appease some people. Offering any type of solution, mitigator, or encouragement is condemned. If you bring up how you couponed and ate out (maybe?) once a month and drove around in a car with no AC all summer in your 20s, you get told you “just don’t understand what kids these days go through.” If you bring up how other generations weathered economic calamity throughout history and encourage people that they, too, have the power to survive this, you get told you want everyone to live like it’s the Great Depression and be happy about it. If you tell someone it’s cheaper to make a burrito at home than DoorDash Chipotle, you get accused of demanding they live off rice and beans. (Which is ironic considering this whole thing started because someone was complaining about paying $20 for…rice and beans.) If they scream that ground beef is $12 a pound and you point them to a store that has it for $5 a pound, you get told that’s subpar beef and would NEVER feed their family of eight, five of which are teen boys, what are you, a monster?! If you agree that prices are insane and we have deep systemic problems that need fixing but that, in the meantime, perhaps people can save money with some simple changes, they just ignore you said the first part and accuse you of telling everyone to eat cake. If you bring up those deep systemic problems and what it would take to fix them, everyone ignores that tweet because nobody *actually* knows how to realistically go about uprooting the welfare state, curbing government spending, getting the national debt under control, or dealing with foreign threats without spending money - most if not all of which would take the participation of our deeply broken Congress. And in all of it, you get accused of sending a terrible political message to socialism-loving young people, and that the “correct” political message is to fuel mass hysteria over prices and let Iran have nukes so milk will magically come back down to 2005 prices. Which wouldn’t work because the issues are so much deeper than that and we’d wind up with egg all over our faces, but whatever. They will find a problem with whatever you say because anything short of “you should be able to live at 23 without budgeting, penny-pinching, or sacrificing” (which literally no generation has ever done but okay) or “no one should have to give up a single creature comfort to buy food” is considered “bad political messaging” to the youths. There’s no winning for anyone here because the point is not to have a conversation or to offer people hope. Many in the outrage mob don’t even see when someone is agreeing with them on the underlying issue but merely offering an alternate angle from which to approach it. They just want to be angry and they want everyone else to declare Doomsday with them and when someone doesn’t, they throw a fit. Which, apparently, is considered GREAT political messaging.
