Truth is determined by reality, not by ideology, consensus or personal preference. That's the principle behind @corTheory, an initiative supporting independent writers, researchers & creators committed to discovering what's true. To learn more, check the video in the comments.

The school is actively recruiting. Please pray for its current students and teachers, and for the school to grow.

It also happens to be the official policy of reality itself, which is even better!

We began as humans on the savannah, naked, banging rocks together, with nothing but our bare hands. Today, we've reached the Moon & split the atom. How? By discovering & applying objective truths about reality. Classical realism explains how that's possible & how we can continue.

Thanks to everyone who joined Wednesday's meetings. We'll keep the first meeting (early session) at the same time for next Wednesday. But we'll move the second meeting (late session) to about 4 hours later than last time. Hopefully that helps more of our American members attend.

Reality is discovered, not invented. Science is an important way to discover reality, but it’s not the only way. A close examination of the Bible shows a profound Design underlying human history. Scientific discoveries further illuminate this Design.👇
Reality has an intelligible order, but how much of it do we recognize? In Decoding Bible Messages, @mapp_john14664 examines remarkable patterns connecting the Old & New Testaments, showing how events centuries apart fit into God's providential order. amazon.com/dp/1512710407?lv=…

1. More billionaires are associated with less poverty. 2. Increasing billionaires per capita by ten fold lowers poverty by 43 percentage points. 3. Sweden has more billionaires per 10M people than the U.S. (34 vs 30) 4. Correlation is fairly strong (R-squared of 0.6 for two variable cross-section data) 4. Since the graph is only a correlation, what do you think is the cause? 🔗in🧵

Everyone orders goods, consciously or not. When we impose our preferences on their objective order, absurdities follow: comfort outweighs justice, identity outranks truth, power overrides morality. Classical realism requires us to correct our priorities according to reality.

It's funny, I argue with many of my favorite people on here. The key is that they believe in reality. We just disagree on how to negotiate reality. The people I don't like tend to be those who thing they can create Reality or set Truth.

For me, @mapp_john14664 is one of the best people on this site. A true friend. His posts are like gems. He's a serious thinker & writer. If you want to learn about the Bible, like I do, I can't think of many better sources than Decoding Bible Messages. Link in the comments.
Why do the same patterns appear throughout the Bible? Isaac, Joseph, Moses & Jonah all prefigure Christ. In Decoding Bible Messages, @RealistGuild member @mapp_john14664 explores these connections & what they reveal about God's providential order. youtube.com/watch?v=BmoMhEgZ…

We call this the hierarchy of goods, which establishes what deserves greater or lesser love, while the order of loves (ordo amoris) is the proper ordering of our affections according to that hierarchy.

Sure, but you’re assuming a philosophy and metaphysics that is distinctly Catholic. The massive red dot in the center MUST be God. Then you. Then your family. Then your community, etc. If the first one isn’t right, the whole thing is still gravely disordered.

Every single “trans law” takes away other people’s rights. Every single one. The entire ideology is an erosion of everyone else’s rights. It may just be the point of the whole thing.

All ideologies make 1 subordinate good, i.e. liberty, equality, nation, class or tradition, etc. the governing principle of everything else. All their starting points are already disordered. Name 1 that doesn't do that. If you can, say why it isn't called "classical realism." 👇
