We began as humans on the savannah, naked, banging rocks together, with nothing but our bare hands. Today, we've reached the Moon & split the atom. How? By discovering & applying objective truths about reality. Classical realism explains how that's possible & how we can continue.

Reality is discovered, not invented. Science is an important way to discover reality, but it’s not the only way. A close examination of the Bible shows a profound Design underlying human history. Scientific discoveries further illuminate this Design.👇
Reality has an intelligible order, but how much of it do we recognize? In Decoding Bible Messages, @mapp_john14664 examines remarkable patterns connecting the Old & New Testaments, showing how events centuries apart fit into God's providential order.

1. More billionaires are associated with less poverty.
2. Increasing billionaires per capita by ten fold lowers poverty by 43 percentage points.
3. Sweden has more billionaires per 10M people than the U.S. (34 vs 30)
4. Correlation is fairly strong (R-squared of 0.6 for two variable cross-section data)
4. Since the graph is only a correlation, what do you think is the cause?

Everyone orders goods, consciously or not. When we impose our preferences on their objective order, absurdities follow: comfort outweighs justice, identity outranks truth, power overrides morality. Classical realism requires us to correct our priorities according to reality.

It's funny, I argue with many of my favorite people on here.
The key is that they believe in reality. We just disagree on how to negotiate reality.
The people I don't like tend to be those who thing they can create Reality or set Truth.

For me, @mapp_john14664 is one of the best people on this site. A true friend.
His posts are like gems. He's a serious thinker & writer.
If you want to learn about the Bible, like I do, I can't think of many better sources than Decoding Bible Messages.

Why do the same patterns appear throughout the Bible? Isaac, Joseph, Moses & Jonah all prefigure Christ.
In Decoding Bible Messages, @RealistGuild member @mapp_john14664 explores these connections & what they reveal about God's providential order.

Every single “trans law” takes away other people’s rights. Every single one. The entire ideology is an erosion of everyone else’s rights. It may just be the point of the whole thing.

When we name a problem incorrectly, we direct attention towards the wrong cause & often prevent the right solution from being found.
History offers plenty of examples 🧵

Build nuclear plants,
Elon Musk says the AI boom will hit a WALL by the end of 2026.
He says the whole industry is about to learn a hard lesson in hardware.
Chip output is exploding, but electricity is nearly flat everywhere outside China.
So the two lines cross this year.
He says by the end of the year, we will be making more AI chips than we can actually turn on.
Millions of them pile up with nowhere to plug in.
In his words, the bottleneck for the next year is not chips, it is raw power.
Whoever can turn on the most chips fastest wins the race.
In the end, the AI race comes down to one thing:
Raw electricity.

Amen! 💯
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn. You cannot build character and courage by taking away man’s initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

True. The fight against gender is yet to begin.
If you ever suspected this organisation either doesn’t really understand what it is doing or is intentionally behaving as a huge distraction from the severity of the situation with regard to trans ideology being used as an engine of destruction upon our democracy, our humanity and to facilitate predatory exploitation of children (be that sexual, political or commercial), then I think this rather confirms the case.
At a time when vulnerable children are being lined up for grotesque medical experiments and law is being proposed to criminalise parents and orgs that dissent, they decide to make a bigger spectacle of themselves than a rugby team in drag, just to advertise their lawfare on who can get in which pond.
For goodness sake, please just stop and call for a united campaign to repeal gender laws.

It’s crazy that a company that started with the motto, “don’t be evil,” is now basically a dystopian corporate super-villain.
Breaking: Google will turn off web search for schools that opt out of A.I. for kids.

The history of slavery is not taught accurately in school because of ideological bias among professors, and one is taught an almost inversion of reality.
Slavery was near universal (including among Native Americans, Africans, Asians, etc); it was not invented by Europeans. It still exists today in parts of Africa and the Middle East. Slavery was ended first by Europeans.
The failure, on average, of historians to speak accurately on this topic, even to this day, has resulted in catastrophic social costs to social cohesion, wellbeing, and race relations.

All living humans can repent. Demons are fixed in evil. But Aquinas recognizes truths even in what demons say. This teaches me that truth doesn't depend on who speaks it. Even the worst source can contain truths worth recovering, separating from falsehood & ordering rightly.
