Microdramas are booming. Unfortunately, most of them are ridiculous soap operas about marrying your dom billionaire boss. Let’s build a new network. On N1BW, creators get 70% of revenue … keep movie & TV rights … no exclusivity! Bring scripts! n1bw.com – at Los Angeles, CA

Kara Swisher's NYT columns & pods declaring the end of movie theaters, glazing streaming CEOs & Warner's soon-to-be-ousted Jason Kilar (who fumbled Christohper Nolan), and declaring her own lack of interest in moviegoing as indicative of a national trend have aged like dogshit

For Autopilot at @Number1bw, we had to pick a video model that would work well autonomously. We tested Wan 3, Grok 1.5 and Seedance with the following cost and quality results: - Wan 3: $3.00 (Quality: Good) - Seedance 2.0: $14.52 (Quality: Good) - Grok 1.5: $0.60 (Quality: OK) Seedance rejected 11 of 12 tasks for having "likenesses of real people". But there were no likenesses of real people. Totally useless, unfortunately. Wan was cheaper and more reliable, so it won.

On the image gen side, we tested Seedream, Nano Banana and Flux 3. Flux 3 won with a "film-look" prompt and a specification that everyone but the lead should look "like a character actor".

Good question. We don’t take any rights in doing AUTOPILOT except for the right to make these shows and broadcast them online. But we don’t take anything more eg movies, tv merch, etc.

Wow, I had no clue. It explains though why I felt that some highly rated movies I saw were pretty average...

The domestic box office is nearing $8.3B — up 21% on last year at this point, and roughly $700M from the biggest post-Covid year. With two months left. Theatrical is roaring back.

There should be an academy award for getting people to read your script to begin with. It's the thing that Hollywood people least want to do.

Part of what's keeping movies alive is all these clowns who come from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and SCTV who are terrific. I mean, you can't get away from it. (1989)

Better in Asia: roads, airports, airlines, public safety. Better in the US: movies, software, guided missiles.
