Sorry, @Jaguar , @JLR_News: I don't like it. I have loved every Jaguar from the E-Type, including the Mark IX, Mark X, 420, S-Type, 2.8 Mark 2, and I fell to my knees with tears of joy when the XJ6 was launched... Jaguar is in my DNA. My father was a founding (financial) member of Ecurie Ecosse, I had a very complicated model of a D-Type... Loved everything Jag...persuaded friends to buy them... I don't like 01. You probably don't care but if you would like to try and persuade me, part of my mind is still open.

This apology from disability charity Scope, for cancelling my choir’s London Marathon performance because of my gender-critical views, is required to stay on its website for seven days. Today is Day 6. Women don’t always get the apologies they deserve. So I’d be grateful if you could help make sure this one is seen by sharing it over the next 24 hours (link below). 🙏 Thanks again to @SpeechUnion for supporting my legal case and helping secure this apology.

Andy Burnham has gained plaudits for stopping David Lammy's attack on Juries. But this is misinformation - juries are still under threat in the Courts and Tribunals bill. I tried to explain why it matters.

Hmm. This is interesting. The Estate Agency field is very competitive - always has been but modern IT is making it even more so. The advent of AI tools like Claude has made it easier to check claims and also easier to get solid and verifiable listings disseminated and searchable, quickly - well, it will do if you let someone else do the heavy lifting. With the caveat that they know what they're doing, of course! People like MyPorta, who have gone to the trouble of deep diving to check and verify claims made by some of the biggest names in the business. The OP's name? Mere coincidence. That, and the fact that he is both my Godson and my nephew! modelprop.ai/insights/legacy

60 Orthodox Christians massacred in Ethiopia. A report buried on a website is not enough. Where is the sustained outrage and interest from the legacy media? Why is Christian persecution so easy to look away from?

Clive Lewis, a Black Gay man, probably had his life saved by Israel refusing him entry into the West Bank, which has a severe racism problem (they refer to Blacks as slaves) & homophobia (gays are thrown off buildings or beaten to death). Was he grateful? No, not really! 🙄
Yesterday, I was barred from entering the West Bank by Israeli officials, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. What's happening here in Palestine is unjust. We've just witnessed what Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and many others have called a genocide unfold in Gaza. We came here to show the world, and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Israeli government didn't allow that.

"Will Arabs be Israel’s kingmakers? They want Netanyahu out" They are not the only ones - but, to be fair, Israeli Arabs don't want to destroy Israel and wipe out Jews in order to achieve it. unherd.com/2026/10/will-arab… via @UnHerd

Nine Christians murdered in Jordan. No relentless sharing of their faces. None of you know their names. @bbcnews couldn't even be bothered to tell you that two more died of their wounds. An attack on Christians in Jordan does not fit their narrative. So it must be swept aside.

You wonder how people can get into responsible positions with such a lack of understanding of basic economics. He seems to be under the impression that people and businesses will pay whatever taxes are levied. They won't the rich will sail ioff to Papua New Guinea in their yachts; the less well off will be left to carry the burden and will do what they must, which will probably involve black market trading. See cigarettes for recent example.
Nope, that’s not how taxes and price works. The price is determined by demand and supply. Companies charge the highest price they can given demand. A tax levied on *profits* does not affect a company’s cost ie supply. Taxes on *windfall* profits (like oil and gas) are the most efficient kind of tax there is.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Corporate profit taxes do not directly shift marginal costs but empirical studies show partial pass-through into higher consumer prices. Windfall taxes on oil and gas have deterred investment and production in practice despite theoretical efficiency on rents. dadun.unav.edu/server/api/cor… ecb.europa.eu/pub/pdf/scpwps… taxfoundation.org/blog/big-oil-p… scottishfinancialreview.com/2025/09/03/win…

A good question. Brexit gave the UK government the opportunity to set our own priorities. The opportunity has been wasted, so far, and would be removed completely if the UK rejoined the EU.
The EU's trade commissioner reiterating that the UK must make a permanent financial contribution to the EU's Social Cohesion Fund to 'reduce economic and social disparities' between EU Member States. Meanwhile, the UK is not eligible to receive any of these funds. Why is it the UK's responsibility to reduce inequalities in the EU, and why do we not direct our own money towards levelling up poorer areas of the UK first? dailymail.com/news/article-1… via @DailyMail

Hand or CNC? Three things decide it. Material: we hand spin up to 3mm in copper, aluminium, mild steel and brass, and 2mm in stainless steel. CNC goes up to 3mm in aluminium and copper, 2mm in carbon steel and 1.5mm in stainless steel, with brass also available. Shape: hand spinning goes up to 1.5m in diameter and 800mm deep. CNC spinning goes up to 650mm. Volume: for a one-off or a few parts, hand spinning can be the most cost-effective route. Precise, repeatable batches and production runs suit CNC. Capacity depends on geometry and grade. Send your drawing, material and quantity and we’ll recommend the route: excellmetalspinning.com #MetalSpinning #HandSpinning #UKManufacturing

Saw you on the train the other day. If I had realised that you needed some help with basic arithmetic, I would have offered. FYI: This is energy we would have needed and used anyway. The difference is: we get royalties & tax revenues from Jackdaw. There are also fewer air miles involved in getting it here.
We are in a climate emergency & yet the government just approved Jackdaw. As Green MPs, we've tabled an Early Day Motion calling on the Government to keep fossil fuels in the ground (including Rosebank) and to focus on things that would actually lower bills & create secure jobs.

But it's the triple lock that's the problem? – at Kensington, London
Well done shrinking private sector we’re now expected to fund a projected £60 BILLION a year in public sector pension costs! Public sector pay growth - 6.3%. Private sector pay growth -3%. Higher state pension contributions. Guaranteed, inflation linked retirement incomes. And greater job security. And millions in the private sector carry their entire weight with nothing like the perks or the security! It’s all about to fall over 💣
