Thank you for emphasizing and expounding on this. Together we can save lives.
Thank you for this important public awareness message. Protecting Ugandans from human trafficking and labour exploitation should be a collective responsibility. Many people are desperate for employment opportunities abroad and may fall victim to unscrupulous individuals and unlicensed recruitment agencies. I encourage everyone seeking employment abroad to verify recruitment agencies through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development before making any commitments or payments. Prevention, awareness and proper verification can save lives and protect families. Thank you for prioritising the safety, dignity and welfare of Ugandans.

Avoid being recruited or a loved one for labour export by individuals or companies whose legal status you are unsure of. If in doubt, let us know and we will help you to verify with the Ministry of Gender’s list of licensed agencies to avoid being trafficked. Alternatively, check by yourself on the Ministry’s EEMIS online portal.

We haven’t worked with the heart institute before, but wonders never cease. 😜

Afande @SKasingye , is this number for police matters only, or can it also handle matters of the heart? Asking before I get arrested for falling for an officer!

Report to the police station nearest to you. They will do the necessary preliminaries and we will assist with communication to the UAE
Replying to @SKasingye

It’s an area we are working tirelessly to improve. Our target is to make it a one day process and we will soon achieve it.
Replying to @SKasingye
But why does getting a certificate of good conduct take "forever" to come out even after the interview?

The easiest way is to enlist in the police force and get deployed to the directorate, but there is a chance for civilian workers too. I will soon inform you about how to apply.

Trust me, most of the vulnerable people will call their families back home. Sometimes the situation restricts them from any interaction with the local community where they are.
Replying to @SKasingye
Since we don't have functioning embassies in those countries, what a brilliant idea! And my loved one is stupid enough instead of calling the local police he calls me In Uganda for his rescue!

I have given a number , but we will still need to receive a written report. You can make use of the nearest police station to take down the complaint and give us a report.
Replying to @SKasingye
So someone who receives the information back home in Kabale / Kisoro will first board a 9 hrs bus to Kampala to report?🙊 Just asking

We prefer that the information is brought in person to the offices so that we are able to interview the complainant and obtain more vital information than we would get over the phone.
Replying to @SKasingye
Where is the channel to send the info to?

If your loved one abroad informs you that his/her life is in danger, do not wait to lose communication completely. Get as much information as possible especially about their exact location, write it down and inform us. Through the INTERPOL communication channels we will ask the police of the country in question to locate and rescue your person.
