I shared AQA GCSE Biology RP worksheets a while ago, but have now added Chem & Physics to the collection. All can be found here- drive.google.com/drive/folde… May be particularly useful at the moment in time of virtual/ guided practicals! @ScienceLTEAM @ChatChemistry @ChatPhysics

Hello all, does anyone have a 6th form sciences student voice survey they could share? I want to start doing them regularly with our 6th form science students (Bio, chem, phys and BTEC).

**New blog posts**
A different sort of blog for me - I've started a series on the challenges of teaching KS4 Structure and Bonding and how I've adapted my teaching following excellent summer lockdown CPD from @chemDrK @Katenics81 and @cogscisci

Allow them to plough their own furrow. The way you lead may not be the way others do it but you need to provide opportunities- especially for aspiring post holders - to take on responsibilities and gain experience #SciLTChat

How can your whole school middle leadership CPD complement the CPD needed by your TLR holders? Do they cover the people management aspects so that you can solely focus on subject-specific leadership aspects of CPL? #SciLTChat
Q2 - Ok so HOW do we develop the leadership skills of postholders. Some discussion on modelling already from @DWalkerdine 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thoughts? #SciLTChat

Helping postholders to realise the difference in their role/identity within the school, e.g. professionalism, not engaging with moaning/cliques etc - setting a good example #SciLTChat

Definitely. The Science Department SEF should incorporate science-specific aspects but should link to the whole school SIP #SciLTChat

Coordination between whole school and departmental programmes is important. They need to compliment each other and not compete. #SciLTChat

Aspects of it can and potential should be looked at as part of the recruitment and selection process, not necessarily the finished article. Having a clear remit and knowing that they can ask the HoD/HoF for support/guidance at any time (and particularly in the 1/2 #SciLTChat

You can be exposed to practical ways of undertaking certain jobs. Leadership is best undertaken by modeling what you want to TLR holders. #SciLTChat

What note taking and summarising formats do teachers model and use?
Personally modeled Cornell notes, mind maps.
What formats do you use? Why? What evidence is there that infers this is a good instructional strategy?

I realise my emphatic praise for this book might sound that I’m advocating only those teachers ‘not in a relationship’ should read it.
Of course, I mean ALL teachers should read it 🙌🏼
Just finished reading this gem.
It is so accessible, I really think every single teacher should read Motivated Teaching:
“Motivation influences behaviour, learning & wellbeing... Motivation for learning is something we must actively build.”
Completely brilliant @PepsMccrea.

#SciLTChat I make sure I take time for me and my family, I run to clear my head and I use the support of the professionals around me. Having the time in lockdown gave me chance to explore new methods that develop learning and the curriculum.

Although going #backtobasics but worth a reminder. Plan out time where you will not be disturbed, remember as a teacher (as well as a leader) you need dedicated PPA time and time to reflect. Have these slotted in your diary & stick to them (emergency-dependent!) #SciLTChat
Ok final question! Now focusing on you. Q3 - How do you stay motivated as a leader with others depending on you? What top tips do you have to share with the team? #TopTips #SciLTChat

Trying out new things due to necessity and see which way works best and what can be bette than before... Teams, onenote, Forms etc could lead to a lot of auto marking and auto feedback and also save lots of paper in the future!! #sciltchat

Visit lessons - if you see the fruits of the department labour in lessons...great stuff!
If you don't, do something positive about it to bring about the change #TopTips #SciLTChat

Unwavering positivity and optimism. When I feel myself flagging I make sure to take time to look after myself - even if it’s taking the night off. Your own oxygen mask and all that!

CPD around teaching from the front without roaming the room. Only because some of my staff kept saying how stressful they were finding that. I wouldn't have added extra CPD otherwise. Lots of talking about wellbeing more often.
