Take Messi out of the equation, and Xavi is my favorite player ever. The purest midfielder I’ve ever watched since I started watching football. As a coach, Xavi is the man who stepped into the chaos, sacrificed his own career and took charge during Barça’s transition period. Whether you like him or not, you simply cannot erase the fact that he played a part in building the Barça we have today. I wish nothing but the best for a club and football legend who defined an entire era from midfield.
