UNDER MY DIRECT OVERSIGHT: President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says the US$2.5 billion (approximately N$41.14 billion) Dangote Namibia Tank Farm, and Regional Pipeline Project will remain under her direct oversight until completion.
Speaking at the official launch in Walvis Bay today, Nandi-Ndaitwah said she had placed the project under the Office of the President to fast-track implementation and prevent bureaucratic delays.
โPlease know that this project will remain a presidential project until it is completed,โ she said.
The project is aimed at strengthening Namibiaโs fuel storage capacity and securing petroleum supplies for Namibia and landlocked neighbouring countries, including parts of the DRC and potentially South Africa.

Affirmative Repositioning (AR) leader Professor Job Amupanda has rejected the proposed allocation of N$200 million to the Ministry of Defence in its current form, proposing that the money be placed under the Finance Ministryโs contingency fund until concerns about its intended use are addressed.
Contributing to the Mid-Year Budget Review debate in the National Assembly, Amupanda stated that MPs had not been given sufficient information about outstanding government utility bills or the purpose of the proposed allocation.
He also questioned fuel deliveries to a military facility, saying fuel transported from Botswana was not being subjected to the required taxes and levies. He questioned transactions involving August 26 and private companies and called for accountability over government procurement.
Prof. Amupanda said the Mid-Year Budget Review should promote fiscal transparency, public accountability and real-time management of public finances, rather than simply approve additional spending without proper scrutiny.
He also highlighted the need for the budget to address economic shocks, including the impact of foot-and-mouth disease and external developments on Namibiaโs economy.
