Imagine your kids are starving with no clothes, and as a father you buy a 65-inch TV so they can watch Cocomelon in HD.
That's exactly what this government is doing.
Ebola must be soooooo disappointed at how much coverage it didn't get.

@YvonneOkwara, thank you for eight years of fearless journalism at @citizentvkenya. By consistently holding power to account, you served the public interest and strengthened accountability.
As you move on to build something else, I wish you every success.
May your next chapter continue advancing truth and the sovereignty of the Kenyan people.
Thank you all of you; thank you for allowing me to practice my journalism as fearlessly as possible. I will miss all of you terribly. I’ll leave it at that before I go viral for crying on TV🥹😭, which wouldn’t be a bad thing after all – @YvonneOkwara's final words as she signs off from Citizen TV
We wish you all the very best in your next endeavours!
Trust @YvonneOkwara to make even a sad end sound like the introduction to a beautiful beginning
Heartfelt, precise, meaningful.
Keep building and keep asking the right questions

Sifuna and Kang'ata on paper seem like such a dream pairing. Ideologically, though, they are quite different. If they ever became president and deputy, they would need a concrete priority plan on nation building.
If you read Kangata's articles, there is an emphasis on capital accumulation, productivity, manufacturing and building large Kenyan corporations capable of competing globally. Very Kibaki-esque. He also has rather socially conservative views.
Sifuna, on the other hand, emphasis is on constitutionalism, the rule of law, accountability, reducing government wastage and relieving the economic burden on ordinary citizens. If you listen closely, infrastructure and economic development mean little if citizens cannot enjoy their constitutional rights, afford basic necessities or access functioning public services. Like a young James Orengo.
Kang’ata seems to be more interested in how the country creates wealth. Sifuna is more interested in how the state wields its power, manages public resources and serves its citizens.
I think both men mean well for the country, but those differences become important when you move from political philosophy to actual governance. They have a priority problem. A nation needs both the capacity to create wealth and institutions that prevent that wealth from being captured by a few.
Agreeing on what kind of Kenya you want is the easy part. The kizungumkuti is agreeing on what must be sacrificed, funded or postponed to build it.

Kuliendaje champ?
Yesterday, Manchester City played rugby and lost to Aston Villa.
Chelsea played badminton and lost to relegation-threatened Tottenham.
Arsenal won, but it was just bad football tactics from their Mozambique coach.
Today, you’re all invited to Old Trafford to watch the best and most entertaining match. We’re finally bringing back that 2008 vibe. Come and enjoy!
