The more obvious framing for this story is government wanting to fast-track legislation to remove the triple lock.
This is all the more so given strong, unified opposition to the bill and the huge implications it has for Ireland's foreign policy.

'The nearly 5 million Palestinians in Occupied West Bank + 2.3 million in Gaza do not vote in Israeli Elections. But the 1 million Israeli citizens living illegally in West Bank do vote in the elections'. And the EU calls this the only Democracy in the Region.? Total nonsense...
The Palestinian population in Israel is approx. 25%, at 2.5 million. They are classified as Arabs, not Palestinians, in order to deny them their identity, and sever their relations with Palestinians in the occupied territories. They vote in the Israeli elections, and expect about 19 seats in the 120-member Parliament in the current elections.
Nonetheless, they do not enjoy the same rights as the Israeli citizens. There are over 100 laws that discriminate against these Palestinian citizens in Israel. The country is codified in law as the national homeland of Jewish people. There is none in the Cabinet, but they have a judge in the Supreme Court. They serve in the army and police but at a deputy commander level at most.
The nearly 5 million Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and 2.3 million in Gaza do not vote in Israeli elections. But the 1 million Israeli citizens living illegally in the West Bank do vote in the elections.
Historically, the Palestinian/ Arab parties in Israel stay out of Government. With 19 seats, and a tie in the two major coalitions, they will be the kingmakers if they opt to join the Jewish coalitions which in the campaigns have made it clear they would not want to form a coalition with Arab because of their conditions. In the above clip, Netanyahu rules out a coalition with them. But will the Arab Palestinians want to join his Government anyway?

Put it to the people @HMcEntee!
THE Minister for Defence has defended the proposed change to the Triple Lock after she was criticised by Michael D Higgins.
Former President Higgins was highly critical of the Government's proposal to scrap the requirement for a UN mandate to deploy troops, and claimed Ireland is moving towards military alliances.
Asked about his comments Helen McEntee said there is a lot of rhetoric' about plans to change the Triple Lock, but that it will always be 'Ireland's choice' to deploy troops:

Irish Government begins dismantling UN linked Triple Lock so they can send Irish troops on an EU Mission to help Israel take control of Southern Lebanon, all part of the Greater Israel Zionist Project that wants all of Palestine too. Whatever happened to Ireland's Neutrality...?

'Alarmism'.
We're talking about a situation where Israel has occupied Southern Lebanon, displacing over 1 million people, destroying entire villages.
This mission, with no UN mandate, is to 'stabilise' Lebanon, led by an EU that has sided w/ Israel throughout the genocide.
There’s a lot of alarmism about this planned Lebanon mission. I have not yet formed a view about it, but here is a summary of the military side of the mission which is still at the planning stage.
“The military pillar will provide advisory support and training to strengthen the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces, for border security andmaritime security, including in land border surveillance and control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, counter-smuggling and operational coordination.”
That doesn’t sound too alarming but I’ll reserve judgement.

The UN is NOT "a grouping of states." It is a universal forum for global diplomacy and conflict prevention established by the UN Charter after World War 2, 'to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war' by working to maintain international peace through the peaceful resolution of disputes between states. It is *the* source of international legitimacy for peacekeeping operations.
A UNSC mandate means a peacekeeping mission conforms to the fullest extent possible with international law and is not being pursued over the objections of a superpower. A neutral country that wishes to remain neutral and avoid getting drawn into superpower rivalries should restrict itself to UN-mandated peacekeeping missions.
The EU is a regional bloc of states, attempting to assert itself as a geopolitical actor with strategic interests, increasingly by force projection. It isn't remotely the same thing as the UN. Increasingly, the EU's military missions are explicitly perceived as part of the EU's conflict with a superpower.
A MINIMUM test for ensuring an EU military mission is compatible with Ireland's neutrality is by requiring that it also enjoys a UN mandate before deploying to it. If it has no UN mandate, there is an unacceptable risk it is likely to make Ireland party to a conflict between superpowers, i.e. not neutral. A neutral country has no place becoming involved in such a mission.
The fact that the government has already announced its plans to involve Ireland in TWO such missions after the Triple Lock is abolished (EUNAVFOR Irini and EUSM Lebanon) is all the proof we need that FFG in government cannot under any circumstances be trusted to maintain our neutrality, and must be compelled to do so by force of law. The Triple Lock must remain in place.
Some people seem to think that a mandate for a mission that comes from the UN is inherently superior to one devised by the members of the European Union. That is not the case. The UN does not possess any unworldly wisdom. It is a grouping of states just like the EU. We should examine UN & EU mandates with the same rigour and work out what works best for us. We will have a bigger say in any EU mandated mission.
No chance of her or her ilk joining the military mission she wants to send our troops to-
To a civil war in Lebanon to assist Israel in its attempt to ethnically cleanse of Southern Lebanon
