My biggest concern is that if there is a clean sweep by Democrats of the House, Senate and Presidency in 2028, they will: 1. Make DC and Puerto Rico states to gain a strong majority in the Senate. 2. Open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority. 3. Increase the size of the Supreme Court to gain an immediate majority. This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word. All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one.

Having a job is one of the few outlets for men's thymos in the modern world--his inborn desire for recognition, his "spiritedness"--so we should hardly be surprised if men who are stripped even of the small dignity of a job end up wanting to burn the whole system down.
Men have gained essentially no jobs since Trump took office. Since December 2024, the US has added about 760,000 jobs, and nearly all of them went to women, per government payroll data

Great conversation with @tylercowen on Science: A New Golden Age. The ecosystem that defined American science and technology in the last century has changed, and our approach to S&T has to change with it.

Immigration policy must be driven by the present, not the past, and business leaders are too terrified of the left AND the right to acknowledge this. Recent H1B discourse revolves around a longstanding immigration sleight-of-hand. H1B proponents point to exceptional people who came here decades ago as if they represent the current state of the program in the same way that advocates for low-skill/illegal immigration point to very favorable immigrant crime/welfare/education/etc statistics that do, in truth, have them beating native-born Americans on many fronts. It is all a sham. The world that created those statistics, people, and businesses no longer exists. Brilliant but desperate Vietnamese fathers who fled communism have nothing in common with young men from Honduras, and the crime rates/economic acccomplishments/integration of the former should not be used to justify mass migration of the latter. Nor should the accomplishments of people who managed to get an H1B visa in the 90s (when the program was capped to just 65,000 visas) be used to justify staffing agencies and tech companies using the program to replace American jobs for less money. The obvious abuse going on is politically suicidal and something that even the most ardent supporters of the visa should want to crack down on, no immigration program can possibly survive the obvious and widely known reality of what is going on. I am a longtime outspoken advocate for stealing the best people from other countries to make our own better, runaway abuse of existing programs robs the government of the worker trust required to do so. Lots of people in the tech space know this. Even the dumb people are smart enough to see it. Nobody actually believes these are all incredible people with unique talents performing jobs no American can. Everyone knows the guy in Cubicle Bay 7 doing mediocre but functional web design for half the salary of his American peers is no savant and doesn't meet the statutory requirements for his H-1B visa. Unfortunately, most people with power or profile are terrified that any public statement or acknowledgement will get them attacked by the right (You guys have been screwing over American workers for years with visa abuse, you damn hypocrite!) or the left (You are racist, sexist, misogynist, and sucking up to this fascist administration!). Or, more likely, both. I know too many tech execs in particular who feel trapped, like the only winning move is to stay silent. JD is blowing the whole thing wide open by putting facts and stats front and center that nobody wants to engage with. Critics will talk about anything and everything else but these damning facts and this obvious truth, that H1B visas serve neither their original purpose, legal purpose, invented purpose, or the American people.
Vice President JD Vance breaks down the data: "If you are working as an H-1B visa in the United States of America, you’re earning $20,000 less than an American citizen hired in the same position. If you were brought in by one of these foreign outsourcing firms, you’re making $48,000 less than an American citizen in a similar position. So I’m sure that everybody here understands the game that is being played. You bring in indentured servants from outside the country, you lay off American workers and, if you’re a corporation, you make a ton of money by under cutting the wages of American workers, replacing them with people who frankly shouldn’t be in the United States of America to begin with."

The post-war order is the pre-Internet order. And the rise of the Internet means that order is ending. But what comes next? Decentralized democracy — or American monarchy? Curtis makes the case for centralization. I make the case for decentralization. Live in Singapore later today. And streaming online for free. This is Network State Conference 2026. ns.com/conf2026
I’ll be debating Balaji Srinivasan at the Network State conference in Singapore on October 9

USA became a superpower in the 20th century, in part, due to our free market industrial economy and a competent, merit-based civil service. In the 70s, the left decided merit was racist, and that we should make it nearly impossible to fire underperforming staff. No suprise, government got slower & dumber. Now, @skupor is bringing merit back, weeding out low performers, and rewarding top talent.  Policy matters, and we're getting back to what made us great! 🇺🇸
NEW 🚨 The Tech Leader Who Is Shrinking Government, Exposing Billions in Waste & Bringing Back Merit @JTLonsdale sits down with a16z Managing Partner-turned-OPM Director @skupor at @uaustinorg - Why leave tech to be attacked in DC? - How did he reduce the size of government for the first time in generations? - How is he bringing merit back to the civil service? - What is he doing to incentivize our best minds to serve in government? - Who should join the U.S. Tech Force? AI/maxxi. maximum compute. maximum intelligence. maximum agents. maximum robots. maximum energy. maximum abundance. maximum memes. 10x is cowardice. we want 1,000,000x. build the datacenters. build the power plants. build the chips. train the models. ship the robots. mint the memes. intelligence is the ultimate resource. memes are the transmission layer. more AI. more memes. faster. if it can be automated, automate it. if it can be scaled, scale it. if it can be memed, meme it. no brakes. no ceilings. no vibes left unoptimized. AI/maxxi ↗↗ compute go brrrr. agents go zoom. memes go viral. humanity goes interplanetary.

Palantir Co-Founder Joe Lonsdale's prediction for the 2030s: 1) Decade of disinflation 2) We're going to all get rich 3) We won't need to raise taxes 4) We're going to start growing faster 5) The deficit will come under control "If you get productivity up to 3% to 5%, which you 100% should be able to do with these things... that solves the deficit problem." — @JTLonsdale, @8vc founding partner and @PalantirTech co-founder, on @SquawkCNBC

Not too late for Trump to inspire young people with a bold Five Year Plan of replacing all the slave labor in Our Economy with agents, robots and Americans. Just stop issuing or renewing H-1Bs. Debank helots, then prosecute their employers. Teach the meth heads to hang drywall
