Out on the #LabourDoorstep in #PrioryHeathWard, South East #Ipswich, with a fantastic team of @IpswichLabour campaigners.
Following the #Budget, we were out listening to #residents, discussing what matters and making the case for #Labour.

🔴 Budget 2026
General Secretary, @Joe_Dromey reacts to the Chancellor's budget:
"This budget will be a relief to families across the UK. In the face an energy price shock – triggered by Trump’s reckless and bungled war in the middle east – the Chancellor has set out a much-needed package on bills that will give people breathing space.
"The work of the previous Chancellor to restore our public finances, and build up our headroom, has proved invaluable. This buffer means that the government is able to manage the impact of the global economic storm that is raging.
"While the tax and spending changes were relatively small, this was not a budget short on ambition. The Chancellor has set out some bold measures to nurture the green shoots of recovery, by unlocking investment and backing innovation. He has promised a devolution revolution, with greater fiscal power for local leaders to drive growth.
"Attention will now turn to the ten year plan later this year, and the spending review early next. The government will need to set out how they can deliver on their big long-term commitments, from bolstering our defence and re-building our relationship with the EU, to building a national care service."

As a Jew who cares deeply about peace between Israelis and Palestinians, I am hugely grateful to Israel's Arab citizens.
If not for record high Arab voting, Netanyahu's fascist bloc would have won another majority.
A reminder of the value that diversity brings to democracy.
Love that @HKane!

Yesterday, I was barred from entering the West Bank by Israeli officials, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation.
What's happening here in Palestine is unjust. We've just witnessed what Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and many others have called a genocide unfold in Gaza.
We came here to show the world, and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Israeli government didn't allow that.

What brings me joy as a football fan is seeing Ronaldo’s massive smile after he announces Harry Kane 😊💥
So Jack should have used Government connections to secure the win? That might be your idea of politics, but we believe in winning on merit, not dodgy backroom manoeuvring. Your comments say more about you than Jack!

The world cannot ignore what is happening in Sudan.
One year on from the mass atrocities in El Fasher, the UK is sanctioning those linked to these and other atrocities, and strengthening support for survivors and communities at risk of famine.

Eritrea has had every chance to accept the return of criminals and those with no right to be in the UK. Unlike other countries, it has refused.
My message to the Eritrean government is simple: take back your nationals or face a complete ban on your citizens entering the UK.
I will not hesitate to impose further measures on other countries refusing to co-operate.

I was delighted to secure £1.5 million for Ipswich and I'm delighted we have moved quickly to invest that money.
Thanks to the Government's Pride in Place funding, 25 community organisations will upgrade buildings and facilities used every single day by local residents.
Salaam Aleikum @hzomlot, unfortunately we missed each other at the conference. Please take a read of this article I wrote, and sent to @andyburnham and @Ed_Miliband: Never Again Must Mean Everyone.
